Responsibilities:

• Communicate with clients with empathy, clarity, and professionalism, especially in high-conflict or emotionally charged matters

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Instrumentation and Calibration Engineer has the responsibility for ensuring the site’s production instruments are operating at optimal levels and properly maintained to data collection in an FDA regulated environment. The position will be primarily responsible for ensuring all instruments are maintained in a calibrated state. Additionally, the Engineer will support general troubleshooting of production equipment/utilities, and asset management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES.

• Support the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program through the creation of new PM tasks, evaluation of existing PMs for technical relevance to current asset problems.
• Help create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for equipment operation, engineering analyses, PM and calibration tasks, that adhere to FDA and cGMP requirements.
• Support the management of the calibrations on production instruments, such as temperature sensors (RTDs/resistance thermometers), pressure sensors (electronic manometers, gauges), and other transmitters.
• Support root cause investigations to a detailed level required for an FDA regulated/cGMP environment, and translate these root causes to effective CAPAs that mitigate equipment risk.
• Assesses and monitors equipment for reliability of operation implementing necessary improvements
• Maintains system classification of incoming equipment with the system owner. Duties may include assembly of supplier operating and maintenance manuals, installation and operational qualification.
• Translate data from Root Cause Centered Maintenance (RCCM) data to support Autonomous Maintenance program. Train Operations personnel in Autonomous Maintenance.
• Maintain calibration records, and qualification of calibration contractor.
• Manages risk to achieve organization's strategic objectives in areas of environmental health and safety, asset capability, quality, and production.
• Conducts risk analyses routinely when production equipment is functioning outside of expected parameters
• Develops Total Cost of Ownership, Mean Time to Failure, Life Cycle Cost, Mean Time to Repair, specific to critical equipment in the production areas.
• Runs process improvement projects from design thru implementation. Apply Root Cause Centered Maintenance (RCCM) to develop improved preventive maintenance tasks.
• Executes changes through to completion, from initiation of change controls to revising SWIs, coordinating work with Maintenance/Engineering, etc., to close out of CCs
• Collaborates with other departments to ensure that reliability is integrated into all aspects of the organization
• Participates in and execute qualification and validation of equipment and processes

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE.

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 3 years of experience in a related or similar field, or
• Associate’s degree in an engineering or scientific discipline and at least 5 years of experience.

K2 Pure Solutions, founded in 2010, is a Chlor-Alkali Manufacturer operating inherently safer technology to produce chemicals such as bleach for water disinfection in the surrounding Northern California communities. Bleach is the modern, preferred water treatment chemical displacing chlorine throughout the world. K2 Pure Solutions produces bleach onsite from nothing but salt, water, and electricity eliminating the danger and risk of a chlorine railcar release into communities trans-America. Other chlor-alkali products produced by K2 Pure Solutions include chlorine, hydrogen, hydrochloric acid, and caustic soda. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, ladder logic, flow diagrams, P&ID's and construction blueprints

·      Will be working with low voltage

·      Install conduit and conduit bracing and fittings

·      Ensures that K2 Pure Solutions’ safety procedures are followed

·      Instrument calibration of equipment

·      Install tubing and perform instrument technician normal duties

COMPETENCIES

·      Must be familiar in instrumentation troubleshooting and repair techniques

·      Must be (or become) qualified to operate a man-lift, scissor lift, forklift and respirator fitted

·      PLC knowledge (Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000 preferable)

·      Must be able to work in high places and work in confined spaces

·      Must be knowledgeable of Miro-Motion Mass Flow meters, Hi-Tech Analyzers, level and flow meter installation and maintenance monitoring

·      Good PC working skills

·      Familiar with MS Office suite including Excel and Word

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

·      High School Education or Equivalent

·      ETEC degree preferred or relevant experience

Compensation - The starting base pay for this role is between $43.26 - $75.00 hr at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of K2 Pure Solution’s competitive total compensation package that can includes strong benefits, perks, and bonuses. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

• The primary responsibility of Instrument Services is to maximize equipment availability for processing by safely maintaining equipment and instrumentation through Calibration, Preventive and Corrective maintenance.
• All Instrument Services Technicians are trained to perform calibration and maintenance in the primary manufacturing support areas and Materials Management, Quality Control Labs, and Utility Operations.

Key responsibilities:

• Microprocessor-based equipment {PLCs, DCS, smart devices, etc.) Exhibit detail-oriented documentation skills to ensure Right-First-Time operations.
• Escalate process issues as necessary to ensure resolution of issue.
• Comply with cGMP, SOP and manufacturing documentation.
• Timely completion of tasks and work orders with appropriate documentation according to standard operating procedures, applicable standards, guidelines, practices, and policies.afe operation of tools and shop equipment, and safe execution of work in the field.
• Computer skill level appropriate to navigate and use corporate intranet and related applications, CMMS/CCMS, and standard word processing and spreadsheet programs.
• Cross functional interaction with Manufacturing, Quality, Technology, Engineering, and other departments to ensure satisfactory performance of instruments and systems.
• Assistance with systems start-up and validation.
• Collection and organization of technical data from equipment manufacturers, equipment users, and engineering personnel.
• Assistance with identification, Purchase and organization of spare parts.
• Installation, Troubleshooting and modification of process control instruments or systems, laboratory instruments and analyzers, and support utilities.
• Programming/configuration of microprocessor-based equipment {PLCs, DCS, smart devices, etc.) Exhibit detail-oriented documentation skills to ensure Right-First-Time operations.
• Train other technicians in group and individual settings.
• Ability to read and understand Piping and Instrumentation Drawings. (P&ID)
• Evaluate, review Standard Operating Procedures content and red line where appropriate.

Key requirements :

• High School Diploma.
• 5–6 years of relevant experience.
• 4 years in manufacturing process instrumentation, control systems, or analytical instrumentation preferred.
• Strong understanding of industrial process instrumentation principles and systems.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs with reasonable accommodations.
• Valid driver’s license.
