Responsibilities:
- Assisting with investigations to determine the at-fault parties in a case.
- Regularly communicating with clients to learn their injuries, medical treatment status and economic losses.
- Diligently obtaining up-to-date medical records, billing records, and other documents in support of clients’ damages claims.
- Determining the applicability of any health insurance or other liens.
- Drafting demand letters; strong persuasive writing skills are a must.
- Preparing cases for settlement and litigation.

- Familiarity of legal procedures in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

MercyOne Dyersville Medical Center is a 20-bed critical access hospital serving 17 rural communities in western Dubuque county. As a Level IV Community Trauma Care Facility, it offers 24/7 emergency and trauma services, along with acute and skilled inpatient care, ambulatory surgery, home care and specialty clinics. The center includes a fully equipped laboratory, imaging services, retail pharmacy with drive-thru and delivery and Phase II cardiac rehabilitation tailored to those recovering from heart events. Outpatient and inpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy are available locally to help patients regain function and independence. As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will promote excellence in nursing practice and a thriving professional practice environment, as evidenced by our designation as a Magnet Hospital. PRN Status
Nurses work 12-hour shifts
Day shift: 0600–1830, Night shift: 1800–0630
This unit self-schedules, and schedules are six-week blocks
General Requirements:

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
Maintains a professional, collaborative work environment so as to foster a positive public image for MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center.
Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, and medical information (i.e., HIPAA, Stark, etc.).
Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.
Practice within the legal scope of a registered professional nurse as outlined in the Iowa Board of Nursing Practice Act and deliver competent care consistent with standards/policies defined by professional nursing organizations, MercyOne Dubuque/Dyersville Medical Center, and external regulators/accreditation/certifying organizations.
Utilize research and evidence-based practice standards in the delivery of patient care.
Education:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Must be a registered nurse and must hold an active license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.
Certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization is preferred and strongly encouraged.
The registered nurse continuously seeks opportunities to enhance his or her own professional nursing practice. Membership in an appropriate professional nursing organization is recommended.
Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training is required within 6 months of hire and every 3 years thereafter.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) will be required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
