Schedule:

  • PRN Status

  • Nurses work 12-hour shifts

  • Day shift: 0600–1830, Night shift: 1800–0630

  • This unit self-schedules, and schedules are six-week blocks

General Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

  • Must be a registered nurse and must hold an active license to practice nursing in the State of Iowa.

  • Certification by a nationally recognized nursing organization is preferred and strongly encouraged.

  • The registered nurse continuously seeks opportunities to enhance his or her own professional nursing practice.  Membership in an appropriate professional nursing organization is recommended.

  • Develops a quality improvement plan utilizing the trauma registry and concurrent patient review.
  • Addresses quality issues with nurses, physicians and EMS involved in the continuum of trauma care.
  • Maintains the trauma registry.
  • Coordinates and acts as a resource in injury prevention activities.
  • Teaches TNCC and acts as course director of the TNCC program.
  • Organizes and coordinates Trauma Committee meetings with the Trauma Program Medical Director. 
  • Assists in the ED when needed to help with patient flow.  
  • Shares trauma, EMS and PEDS data with ED staff and physicians at department meetings to include thoughtful analysis of the data. 
  • Liaises between Mercy One and EMS to create a strong working relationship.  
  • Audits EMS charts to find trends that may need to be addressed in the performance improvement process.  
  • Provides EMS data to other departments as needed (e.g., Shared Services for contract review).
  • Works with Stroke Coordinator to improve pre-hospital care for patients.   
  • Assists EMS Medical Directors with the review of quality data and the provision of education to EMS.  Where appropriate, obtains CEHs for EMS.
  • Attends EMS meetings as a representative of Mercy One Dubuque Medical Center and Mercy One Dyersville Medical Center.
  • Liaises with NICC and promotes a positive clinical experience for EMT students at Mercy One.  
  • Manages EMS supplies, linens, and food by investigating ways to better distribute those resources while reducing waste. 
  • Coordinates the Dubuque County Drug Box Exchange Program on behalf of Mercy One in collaboration with the Director of Pharmacy.  
  • Provides education to ED staff on new or changing EMS practices, equipment, or legislative issues. 
  • Acts as a resource to ED staff and to other hospital staff with regard to HazMat and decontamination (decon) practices.  Assists with fit testing as able.
  • Participates in pediatric performance improvement activities. 
  • Coordinates the Pediatric Emergency Medicine meetings to include taking minutes and providing feedback on performance improvement activities.
  • Creates and revises emergency pediatric policies with input from the interdisciplinary committees.  
  • Participates in pediatric injury prevention programs. 
  • Assists the Emergency Department director with scheduling and payroll.
  • Assists the Stroke Coordinator with day-to-day reviews when needed. 
  • Performs other duties consistent with purpose of job as directed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive IVIG & SPRx growth in your region (Southern California or Washington) by increasing IVIG grams through our pharmacy and qualified specialty pharmacy new starts.
  • Partner with Provider Development Directors (PDDs) to co-own target accounts, align on call plans, and support pull-through on high-value therapies.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences, business, healthcare administration, or related field; or equivalent relevant experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of up to 15 employees (currently 11) across press operations, industrial finishing, polishing, complex assembly, and quality control.
  • Oversee hiring, performance management, training, and disciplinary actions.
  • Work alongside the team operating manual machines and hand processes and as needed to maintain production flow and deepen process expertise (true working manager role).
  • Optimize material flow and resource utilization through all production stages.
  • Develop, document, and enforce accurate timing standards; monitor and improve team adherence.
  • Generate and maintain detailed production schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and CAD teams to transition designs and tooling packages into repeatable serial production.
  • Perform first-article qualifications, validate new tooling/processes, and train staff on new equipment and methods.
  • Set and enforce in-process quality standards, lead material review board (MRB) activities, and drive root-cause resolution to maximize material yield.
  • Partner with in-house machine shop to achieve precise geometric fits and tolerances in complex assemblies.
  • Operate and maintain production data systems, advance tracking, reporting, and capacity forecasting capabilities.
  • Support prototype builds, customer returns/repairs, and special projects outside standard eyewear production.
  • Assist engineering in developing and implementing advanced manufacturing methods, tooling, and machinery.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce safety standards and protocols for the team.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • 5+ years of direct supervisory experience managing 8+ employees in a labor-intensive, precision manufacturing environment.
  • Proven hands-on expertise in machine setup, tooling qualification, first-article inspection, and sustaining consistent output.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and develop technicians on complex processes, tooling, and materials.
  • Extensive experience with close-tolerance, multi-process geometric assemblies.
  • Strong proficiency reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
  • Track record of creating and managing production schedules with multiple dependencies.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior communication skills—able to explain detailed concepts clearly in visual, verbal, and written form.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word); experience with production tracking/MES software a plus.
  • Comfortable leading group brainstorming and process-improvement sessions.
  • Familiarity with 3D printing and additive manufacturing is desirable.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.
