Job Summary:

The Healthcare Physical Security Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of security systems within healthcare facilities. This role involves overseeing all phases of system implementation, including installation, testing, and performance verification, to ensure optimal functionality. The technician plays a critical role in maintaining a secure environment for patients, staff, and visitors by ensuring all security systems operate effectively and in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.


Job Roles & Responsibilities

System Installation

  • Installation of CCTVs, access control, and other security systems.
  • Ensures that systems are installed properly and in accordance with procedures, manufacture recommendations, and quality control standards.
  • Collaborates with clients and/or internal stakeholders to address security system issues promptly.
  • Provides accurate documentation for completed work.
  • Offer guidance and training to end-users on system operation and best security practices.

Trouble Shoot, Test and Fix of Security Systems

  • Stays up to date and knowledgeable with current technology as well as internal processes and procedures.
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance (PM) on Security devices and address security system issues promptly.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning security equipment, including hardware and software components.
  • Provides feedback and information to identify any potential issues.

Inventory Management

  • Responsible for providing proper documentation for inventory control. Must be available to perform inventory counts.
  • Maintains assigned company-owned vehicles, tools, equipment, and individual tool issue.
  • Maintain detailed records of installations, maintenance, repairs, and system configurations.
  • Ensure that all security systems meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Technology Maintenance

  • Perform preventative maintenance to extend the lifespan of security systems.
  • Monitor security systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and provide timely responses to alarms or alerts.
  • Conduct regular system tests and drills to verify their effectiveness and reliability.


Experience/Skills/Training

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communications skills (both verbal and written)
  • Knowledge of relevant security regulations and industry standards
  • Mechanical aptitude and thorough knowledge of hand and power tools
  • Strong electronics knowledge/background (AC/DC theory, series and parallel circuits, open/close loops) and ability and knowledge to use digital volt meters.
  • Knowledge of Serial Communication (RS232, RS485)
  • Basic knowledge of IP, Ethernet, and networking protocol and Cat6 technologies.
  • Knowledge of door hardware, electric and mechanical locking devices and building codes pertaining to construction, fire, and electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of Access Control Components
  • Working knowledge Access Control burglary intrusion Components
  • Working knowledge of Video Management Systems


Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of security systems
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, software, and equipment related to security technology
  • Lenel OnGuard and Milestone certification preferred
