Responsibilities:

- Performs professional duties in accordance with facility policies/procedures and standards of professional practice, State of New Hampshire Nurse Practice Act, OBRA and HIPAA.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to formulate individualized resident care plans. Updates care plans as necessary. Participates in Resident Care Plan Meetings.
- Institutes care protocols as indicated including: falls prevention, safety and elopement, behavior management, weight management, skin integrity, bowel/bladder management, infection control guidelines (Standard Precautions), and pain assessment and management.
- Assesses and documents changes in residents’ physical or mental status and reports findings to the primary care physician and treatment team. Provides complete clinical data to facilitate decision-making.
- Provides leadership and direction for direct caregivers. Prepares daily assignments and delegates workload appropriately. Supervises direct care through observation and evaluation of direct care results.
- Establishes positive working relationships with team members, residents and family members in order to facilitate open, direct communication.
- Obtains, administers and documents medications and treatments given to residents following professional guidelines and Nursing department policies. Inventories and maintains locked system for narcotics.
- Supports, creates, and maintains a positive culture for team members and residents

Qualifications:

- Must possess, as a minimum, a Nursing Degree or Diploma from an accredited college, University or nursing school.
- Long term care facility and specialized knowledge of nursing care of the elderly and rehabilitative nursing is preferred.
- Must hold a registered nursing (RN, LPN) license within the State of New Hampshire. Certified in intravenous administration preferred. Must maintain CEU's annually. CPR is required.

  3. Conduct regular patrols to monitor the facility, identify potential security risks, and deter unauthorized access.

  4. Respond to security alarms, fire alarms, and other incidents while following established protocols.

  5. Document security incidents, visitor logs, preparing reports for management and other relevant information.

  6. Greet visitors and employees in a professional and welcoming manner, verify identities, grant access to specific areas and issue visitor identification badges.

  7. Answer questions and assist guests and employees.

  8. Open/close, lock/unlock sensitive rooms and areas.

  9. Conduct personal sweeps in closed areas; monitor prohibited items in certain areas.

  10. Correspond and interact with corporate security personnel regarding orders and execution.

  11. Protect classified materials and ensure proper handling and storage according to regulations.

  12. Act as a first responder in emergency situations, assisting and coordinating with other emergency personnel.

  13. Explain security procedures and report incidents.

  14. Identify and resolve security issues, respond to emergencies, and make sound judgments.

  15. Accurately maintain records and follow procedures.

  16. Communicate with colleagues, supervisors, and other relevant parties regarding security matters.

  17. Perform other duties as assigned.



JOB REQUIREMENTS



1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent.



2. Experience: Minimum 3 years relevant experience or equivalent, with high-level security experience on DOD or military site preferred. Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) certification preferred.



3. Skills: Familiarity with security protocols, emergency procedures, and relevant regulations including DISS (Defense Information System for Security). Meticulous attention to detail. Basic computer skills to operate security systems and prepare reports. Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to articulate and explain dynamic situations coherently. Understand accountability and lead by example.



4. Clearance: Must have a current active secret clearance; ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance preferred.



5. Other: Ability to lift up to 35Ibs and move office equipment. Ability to walk and stand for extended periods. Ability to work a flexible schedule. This position is not eligible for telecommuting or hybrid work arrangements.

As a Clinic Nurse (LPN)/Medical Assistant at MercyOne, you will

  • Escorts patients to exam rooms. Obtains and documents data to include but not limited to chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, pain level, medication history, and fall risk. Obtains and reviews basic health history information. Anticipates and prepares exam room with equipment and supplies required for the visit. Assists with exam/procedures as requested.
  •  Utilizes written Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa policies and procedures, and universal precautions when performing laboratory/diagnostic tests. Performs, maintains and documents quality controls as applicable/requested (i.e., logs, proficiency test, maintenance records, etc).
  • Assists in scheduling patient for office appointments, lab/diagnostic tests/referrals. Reviews written test preparation handout with patient and documents in medical record. Refers patient to provider/registered nurse if education is required.
  • Completes charge ticket/submits charges in an electronic health record to include and obtain the diagnosis from the provider, identifying and initialing all billable supplies and services. Obtains ABN per e-LMRP as necessary.

Receptionist

  • Assures the conveyance of accurate and complete messages to appropriate personnel.
  • Responsible for the development, tracking and/or completeness of the charge ticket process through the patient visit.
  • Demonstrates functional knowledge of third party payers.

Surgery Scheduler:

  • Familiar with ICD-9/10 coding and CPT coding.
  • Coordinates physician surgery schedules between OR and office.
  • Proficient in computer and internet skills to access payers websites, perform surgery scheduling on multiple systems, verify patient eligibility for benefits, and to obtain surgery pre-certifications.
  • Provides appropriate pre- and post-surgery information, organization of surgery scheduling management.

Referral Liaison

  • Meets with patients both in person and by phone and is the point person in their coordination of care.
    • Works closely with insurance companies and makes referrals according to their guidelines and policies.
    • Coordinates referrals with other provider’s offices in a timely manner.
    • Implements and follows a tracking system for all referrals.
    • Processes requests for physical forms/immunization forms for parents, daycares, and schools as time allows.

Lab

  • Performs laboratory testing (including phlebotomy and a variety of routine and/or automated tests), and maintains records of tests performed and results received.
  • Reports results and pertinent information to patient and health care team members.
  • Complies with regulatory agencies (i.e. CLIA, COLA, OSHA in opera­tion of lab).
  • Responsible for quality control and proficiency testing appropriate for the testing performed ensuring that levels are maintained throughout the entire testing procedure from the initial quality control, throughout testing, and reporting of test results.
  • Responsible for reporting technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever tests deviate from established performance specifications.
  • Coordinates a variety of procedures, exams and diagnostic equipment.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work includes cross coverage in other clinic areas as team needs.
  • Responsible for following equipment maintenance protocol, identifying problems, and coordinating appropriate repairs.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement projects.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
