Key Responsibilities
Building Effective Relationships
- Partner with Estimating to ensure a seamless handoff from preconstruction to operations.
- Prioritize a strong working relationship with the Lead Superintendent and actively support field operations.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with subcontractor Project Managers; proactively manage underperforming subcontractors.
- Maintain strong relationships with Design Team Leads and support proactive business development efforts.
- Act as the primary point of contact with the Owner’s Representative, building trust and positioning Matukat for repeat work.
- Confidently manage principals’ meetings, subcontractor defaults, supplements, and replacements.
- Keep business development and networking top of mind throughout the project lifecycle.

Contracts & Preconstruction
- Maintain 100% responsibility for project buyout, including creation and execution of a Buyout Matrix (“90 in 90”).
- Have a detailed working understanding of subcontractor scopes and be able to draft subcontractor contract agreements.
- Review, understand, and communicate Owner (Prime) Contract requirements to the full project team.
- Collaborate with Estimators during preconstruction to manage design phases, establish the GMP, and define General Conditions.
- Successfully manage projects with budgets ranging from $10M–$100M.
Cost Control & Financial Management
- Maintain full responsibility for cost control and forecasting, submitting accurate monthly cost reports.
- Maintain accurate and current PCI logs (internal and external) and identify cost risks during monthly reconciliations.
- Ensure General Requirements (GRs) and General Conditions (GCs) are fully captured in all applicable change orders.
- Resolve the majority of external PCIs through clear documentation and timely Owner Change Orders.
- Oversee all pay applications and invoicing in coordination with Project Administration.
- Maintain positive project cash flow and leverage financial tools to support subcontractor negotiations.
Risk, Schedule, Quality & Safety Management
- Recognize schedule as the project’s primary risk and provide proactive, meaningful scheduling input.
- Ensure weekly and monthly schedule updates are accurate and issued on time.
- Lead procurement meetings to align material deliveries with the project schedule.
- Negotiate, prepare, and defend the majority of potential project claims.
- Identify and address problematic subcontractors early and effectively.
- Ensure QA/QC plans are implemented and actively participate in quality oversight.
- Participate in safety planning and execution; uphold and enforce jobsite safety standards.
- Work closely with Superintendents and field teams to maintain compliance with site safety plans.
- Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative project team environment.
Staff Management & Leadership
- Develop and maintain the project responsibility matrix and organizational chart.
- Monitor staff workloads and reassign tasks to ensure balance and efficiency.

The Controller will lead all accounting and financial operations, partnering with executive leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, disciplined job cost accounting, and effective percentage-of-completion revenue recognition in a project-driven construction environment. Controller Responsibilities:
- Oversee all core accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, job costing, fixed assets, journal entries and bank reconciliations.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes and prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements.

- Must have strong knowledge of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting under GAAP.
- Experience managing month-end close, financial statements, and internal controls.
- Proven leadership experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software (such as Sage or Viewpoint Spectrum) and financial reporting tools.

Walsh Construction Co. is growing our Quality Assurance team in Seattle. As Quality Assurance Manager, you'll be involved in every phase of our projects - from establishing building performance goals with owners in pre-design to collaborating with architects and consultants during design, and to guiding Walsh's comprehensive Quality Control processes during construction.

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager with an architecture and/or construction background with 5 to10 of years of experience and an interest in all 6-sides of enclosure detailing to join our team.
JOB SUMMARY:
Assist with company-wide quality assurance activities, as well as those, which are specific to individual projects.
Essential Functions:

Project Specific
- Assist with project risk assessment
- Development of project quality plans for design phase
- Management of third-party envelope consultant involvement (if retained by Walsh Construction Co.)
- Assist is communications with design consultants
- Review QA/constructability of design documents (100% S.D. set, 50% C.D./permit set, bid set)
- Assist with scope clarifications / bid proposal review / contract review
- QA/coordination review of construction set documents
- Assist with building envelope coordination during construction phase: pre-submittal coordination meeting, submittal process, RFI process, mockup review
- Construction phase field review (min. 2-4 site visits per month during building envelope construction)
Regional Duties
- Assist with the development of training sessions for PM’s, Superintendents, and QC Coordinators (to be delivered at quarterly meetings)
- Assist with regional marketing of QA/QC Program
- Oversight of regional warranty program and issues
Company Wide Duties
- Assist with development and distribution of construction bulletins
- Management of regional input to Lessons Learned/Project Debrief database
- Research products, systems, materials, and methods of construction
- Job Scope
- Perform duties with little direction given, operating from established directions and instructions. Decisions are made within general company policy constraints but occasionally require independent decision-making.
- The complexity of this role is high with high attention to detail and organization. The ability to work under pressure is necessary. Errors in judgement could affect the company, project owners, and employees
Supervisory Responsibility
- Some supervisory responsibility of the regions Quality Control Coordinators with Quality Director, Enclosure Superintendent, and Management. This responsibility includes employee evaluation, training, and development.
Interpersonal Contacts
- Contacts are made with others both internally and externally. The most common internal contacts are with project managers, superintendents, and field crews. The most frequent external contacts are with project owners and architects. Internal interactions tend to be face to face and external interactions are most frequently face to face with occasional video conferencing. There is some exchange of confidential/sensitive information necessitating discretion.
In-Person Attendance - In-person, regular and reliable full-time attendance at a Walsh office with travel to and from construction jobsites and off-site meetings.
- Report to a Walsh office, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
- Occasionally travel to and from construction jobsites and off-site meetings as required

Education and/or Experience:
- Education – Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Building Science, or Construction Management; or equivalent education/experience in the construction field required.
- Experience – Minimum five to ten years’ experience in construction preferred.

Working Conditions:
- Physical Demands: Job involves sitting for long periods of time, using a computer, and typing on a regular basis. Additionally, use of telephone, copier, fax, as well as lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally.
- Environmental Conditions: Normally exposed to general office conditions, as well as construction jobsite where there is exposure to loud noise, equipment, climbing steps, climbing ladders, stooping, bending, and walking on uneven surfaces.
- Hours: Generally, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with some off-hours, as required.
- Must have reliable transportation to make frequent jobsite visits and ability to travel out of town, sometimes overnight.
Salary Range is $85,000 to $105,000 annually.
