The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer – DevSecOps to support our Phantom Works Virtual Warfare Center team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

The DevSecOps Lead Engineer will architect and implement secure development and execution environments for the rapid prototyping and experimentation we use to answer our customers’ toughest questions about future technologies and capabilities. The Virtual Warfare Center executes far-reaching analysis to address military capability gaps in and across multiple warfighting domains in the face of accelerating adversary capabilities. As the Virtual Warfare Center’s DevSecOps Team Lead you will lead a team of engineers designing, implementing, and monitoring software development infrastructure across multiple networks and physical locations across the United States. You will build and maintain cross-functional relationships with multiple teams to coordinate the selection, approval, deployment, and maintenance of a consistent set of software tools in all locations. Your work will guarantee our development and deployment infrastructure and processes are reliable, efficient, consistent, and secure. Your team will partner with relevant stakeholders to create processes, design cloud-based solutions, support deploying applications in cloud environments, evaluate solution performance and implement enhancements. You will guide the team through the update of a legacy software development infrastructure to use modern technologies including containers, cloud, high performance computing, AI/ML, and automation. This position requires mentoring early-career employees on DevSecOps design, implementation, maintenance, communication, and leadership skills. Your team will track required software updates and drive the process to eliminate known vulnerabilities including monitoring systems, tools, and software packages for security vulnerabilities. You will contribute to a collaborative, cross-functional team managing software security approvals and automate the integration of security into all phases of the software development lifecycle. Your work with an array of software development, IT, and cybersecurity teams will address emergent issues while improving the efficiency and usability of our systems and software products.

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of engineers responsible for designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining a consistent, secure software development toolchain across multiple networks and physical locations.
• Spearhead the approval and implementation of continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines into collateral secret and program spaces.
• Coordinate between software development, IT, and security teams on vulnerability tracking and mitigation, driving efforts forward.
• Architect and implement the transition of a multi-site, multi-network software development environment into a cloud-based approach.
• Lead trade studies and tool selection to upgrade and modernize software development processes and operational infrastructure.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline or 17+ years equivalent related experience
• 10+ years’ experience with software engineering
• 3+ years’ experience with scripting languages such as Bash or Python
• 3+ years’ experience containerized software development
• 3+ years’ experience supporting DevSecOps lifecycle
• Experience with Agile development practices using continuous integration and deployment
• 3+ years of experience performing automation, implementation and deployments in both Windows and Linux systems

The Role

We are looking for a Software Product Manager who can guide our software engineering team with clarity and technical credibility. This is not a role for someone who will hand requirements over the wall and hope for the best. You will be embedded in the day-to-day work of the team: running sprint ceremonies, owning the backlog, writing requirements that engineers can act on, and making product decisions that hold up under scrutiny.

The right candidate has a software engineering or technical background and has moved into product management because they want to shape what gets built, not just how it gets built. You understand system architecture well enough to know when a proposal does not fit, and you are willing to say so. You write requirements you have thoroughly reviewed and own the outcomes that follow.

What You Will Own

Day to day software team leadership

• Own the product backlog and sprint planning for the software engineering team
• Write and maintain requirements that are accurate, scoped, and actionable
• Run Agile ceremonies and serve as the primary product voice to engineering
• Manage trade-off decisions between scope, quality, and timeline in real time
• Report sprint progress to executive leadership
• Work with customer-facing teams and market focused Product Managers to triage requests and manage communication related to software releases

Software roadmap and platform strategy

• Define the “What”, “Why”, and “When” of what the software team builds.
• Own the software and cloud platform roadmap, including API integrations and third-party partnerships
• Ensure roadmap initiatives have well defined software requirements before engineering picks them up
• Partner with hardware and market focused product managers to identify what software can realistically deliver, surface revenue opportunities, and align software commitments to system level plans.
• Maintain visibility into technical dependencies and surface risks early

AI product direction

• Provide product leadership for Inovonics' AI capabilities, including our dealer facing AI assistant and AI driven monitoring features
• Translate the engineering team's AI and ML capabilities into a committed, realistic roadmap
• Identify where AI creates genuine product value versus where it adds complexity without payoff
• Work with commercial and customer facing teams to validate AI use cases before committing engineering resources

What Success Looks Like in Year One

• The engineering team trusts your requirements and does not spend cycles reworking stories because of gaps or inaccuracies
• The software backlog is clean, prioritized, and current
• Roadmap projects have software requirements captured and ready before they enter sprint planning
• A clear, defensible AI roadmap exists with prioritized use cases tied to business outcomes
• You are operating independently and are the recognized product leader for the software team

What We Are Looking For

Required

• Background in software engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline
• Hands on experience running Agile development: sprint planning, backlog management, story writing, and retrospectives
• Demonstrated ability to write detailed, accurate product requirements that engineering teams can execute without constant clarification
• Ability to engage in architectural conversations and recognize when a proposal does not fit the existing system
• Experience owning a SaaS or cloud platform product end-to-end
• Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make and defend product decisions with incomplete information

Strongly preferred

• 5+ years of product management experience with a software or engineering foundation
• Experience with IoT, connected hardware, or embedded systems products
• Familiarity with physical security, life safety, or building automation markets
• Experience shipping AI or ML powered product features; practical understanding of what AI systems can and cannot do

Summary Pay Range – Level 4 (Senior) - $119,000 - $172,000
Summary Pay Range – Level 5 (Lead) - $145,350 - $211,600

Senior Software Engineer – Deployment & Reliability (Digital Pathology / Medical Imaging)

A fast-growing technology company operating in the digital pathology and medical imaging space is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to support the deployment, configuration, and long-term reliability of advanced imaging and AI-driven software systems.

This role sits at the intersection of software deployment, infrastructure engineering, and site reliability, ensuring complex software platforms are successfully installed, integrated with customer IT environments, and maintained at high levels of performance and stability.

You will work closely with engineering, customer support, and monitoring teams to ensure a smooth transition from system deployment to ongoing operational support while contributing to improvements that make deployments more scalable and reliable over time.

Key Responsibilities

Deployment & Configuration

• Lead end-to-end deployments of imaging, AI, and data management software systems at customer environments
• Configure and integrate servers, clusters, and storage systems within hospital or laboratory IT infrastructures
• Work with networking, authentication, storage, and security configurations to ensure successful installations
• Collaborate with field engineering teams during system installation and commissioning
• Develop standardized deployment playbooks, documentation, and validation checklists

System Reliability & Upgrades

• Manage software version rollouts, upgrades, and patching across deployed customer environments
• Work with monitoring and observability teams to track system performance and health
• Troubleshoot complex issues across multi-component systems including imaging software, AI inference pipelines, and storage layers
• Improve automation around upgrades, rollbacks, and maintenance processes

Engineering Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

• Identify recurring deployment or performance challenges and work with R&D teams to design long-term solutions
• Provide structured feedback from field deployments to improve product architecture and deployment workflows
• Validate new deployment tools, frameworks, and configuration approaches prior to wider rollout
• Contribute to improving the scalability and resilience of the overall platform

Customer IT & Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Serve as a technical liaison with customer IT teams regarding networking, infrastructure, security, and data access
• Ensure deployments comply with institutional IT policies and healthcare regulatory requirements
• Collaborate closely with support and monitoring teams to align escalation processes and root cause investigations
• Participate in post-deployment reviews to improve operational processes and reliability

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

• Maintain detailed installation and configuration documentation
• Develop deployment guides, troubleshooting documentation, and internal knowledge resources
• Support and mentor field teams on standardized deployment and configuration practices

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
• 5+ years of experience in software deployment, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or systems engineering
• Strong Linux (Ubuntu) administration and scripting skills
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with database technologies such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB
• Familiarity with web service configuration (Nginx or Apache)
• Solid understanding of networking concepts including VPNs, firewalls, and authentication systems
• Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems across software, infrastructure, and data layers
• Strong communication and collaboration skills when working with cross-functional teams and customer IT stakeholders

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to medical imaging systems, digital pathology, or healthcare technology environments
• Familiarity with DICOM or PACS systems
• Experience deploying or supporting AI/ML models in production environments
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK)
• Knowledge of regulated environments and healthcare compliance frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR, IVDR)
• Experience supporting hardware and software integrated systems
