Department description:
The 6 East and 6 West Child Unit is a 20 bed secured psychiatric unit providing care for children between the ages of 3 and 11. The unit is located at our CHA Somerville Campus. A multi-disciplinary approach is used to provide patient and family centered care. A continued emphasis on restraint reduction is ongoing and treatment focus is on assessment, stabilization, and after care treatment planning. Our approach is trauma informed, patient and family centered, and evidence based.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Massachusetts RN license required
- American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers BLS (Basic Life Support) certification is required
- BSN or ASN degree required
- 1-2 years acute inpatient psychiatric experience preferred.

According to DMH we have a lower than average restraint rate, and use a sensory approach to de-escalate patients as well as DBT/CBT group therapy. All staff are educated in trauma-informed care, which provides each patient a plan of care that is based on their individual needs. Patients are cared for by a dynamic interdisciplinary psychiatry team of nurses, milieu counselors, providers and social workers.

Position Summary
The Generator Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing residential generator systems. This role involves hands-on technical work, customer interaction, and travel to job sites, including occasional overnight stays and participation in emergency response during major power outage events.
What You’ll Do
- Perform maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on air-cooled and liquid-cooled generator systems with minimal supervision
- Troubleshoot and repair automatic transfer switches
- Repair or replace generator accessories, including Smart Modules, remote monitors, and surge protection devices
- Respond to urgent service requests and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
- Support generator installation efforts as needed during high-demand or outage situations
- Travel daily to customer locations, with occasional overnight travel during large outage events
- Strong ability to diagnose and repair systems using training materials, drawings, line drafts, and schematics
- Ability to read, interpret, and create electrical drawings and schematics

Documented interventions are related to planning of care. Interventions reflect the standard of care for patient condition/diagnosis. Interventions include utilizing agency and community resources. Performs therapy interventions consistent with home care protocols. Interventions reflect knowledge of standard home care supplies and equipment used inpatient care.Independently organizes patient assignments for completion of tasks within acceptable time frames. Seeks assistance from PT III Rehab Care Manager or supervisor regarding complex patient problems. Maintains necessary clinical records collects data and prepares reports on activities. Submits completed admission records within 48 hours and daily records within 24 hours with a Ninety-five percent accuracy on technical audit. Recertification completed prior to recert date. Maintains caseload mix and productivity for acuity level of patients.Initiates and participates in regularly scheduled case conferences; includes all disciplines. Includes patient and family in mutual goal setting and care plan revision.Maintains effective working relationships with other departments and participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and agency in community outreach efforts. Enhances growth and development and enriches personal knowledge and skill through participation in educational programs and affiliations.Performs history and assessment related to episode of patient illness to determine the patient's habilitation/rehabilitation needs. Recommends adaptive equipment and/or home modifications to maximize the patient's functional abilities and safety. Identifies primary patient problems from assessment. Identifies discharge planning needs including referrals to appropriate community resources. Interprets abnormal clinical data to anticipate problems associated with changing patient status.Performs procedures and modalities including but not limited to therapeutic exercise functional mobility training gait training heat/cold application and ultrasound. Minimal Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school required
- 1-2 years Clinical experience required
- PT - Physical Therapist License to practice Physical Therapy in the District of Columbia Maryland or Virginia or any combination based on work location(s) Upon Hire required and
- DL - Valid State Driver's License in good standing with a dependable vehicle for transportation Upon Hire required
- CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and
- Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
