Position description

The Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach courses in Accounting as a lecturer should an opening arise. The pool will remain in place for one year.



General Duties:

In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include:

* Holding office hours

* Assigning grades

* Advising students

* Preparing course materials.

UC lecturers are academic appointees and are represented by an exclusive bargaining agent, University Council - American Federation of Teachers (UC-AFT). This position is represented by the bargaining unit.



For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States (such as a US visa that allows employment) is required by the start date of the position. The department is unable to provide a visa/work permit.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

The minimum qualification to be an applicant is a Bachelor Degree or equivalent international degree at time of application.



Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

A minimum of four years in the professional practice in relevant field to the course being taught.



Preferred qualifications

A minimum of 2 years' experience in the professional practice of Accounting at a business, government or not-for-profit organization by start date. Higher education teaching experience and advanced degree by start date are preferred.

This is a full-time academic year, non-tenure-track position with primary responsibilities for undergraduate laboratory and classroom teaching.


Duties


It is expected the successful candidate will be an engaging and effective teacher with a strong commitment to student learning and success. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate physics courses including upper-level physics laboratory courses; providing assistance to senior capstone and research projects; collaborating with faculty to enhance the physics curriculum; academic advising; participating in department, university and professional service; and fostering interdisciplinary collaborations in education.


Minimum Qualifications


Candidates must have earned a PhD degree in physics or related field at the time of employment; have experience with teaching at the college level, particularly at the undergraduate level; possess excellent communication skills; demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence, and be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis.


Preferred Qualifications


Strong candidates will have outstanding credentials that clearly demonstrate their ability and commitment to undergraduate teaching, including in particular upper-division laboratory offerings; the experience and ability to teach upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses; and the potential to participate in scholarly activities.


Candidates from all physics backgrounds will be considered, including fields represented by current research interests in the department, including astrophysics/astronomy, AMO physics, computational physics, gravity, nuclear physics, and quantum information/computing/optics; or in closely-allied areas such as physics education research. Assistant Professor - Management (Tenure-Track)


The department of Management & Marketing of the Charlton College of Business at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth seeks an Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) in Management to conduct innovative research within this field that is aligned with the college's mission and the department's research priorities. The appointee will also teach three sections per semester of undergraduate or courses, pursue pedagogical innovation, and engage in service activities. The appointment will be effective on September 1st 2026.


The Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track) in Management is expected to publish research in well-regarded scholarly management journals. Candidates working or interested in one of the following areas will be given priority: entrepreneurship, small and medium businesses, international business, or innovation management. The teaching load is three sections per semester of undergraduate and/or graduate courses, specifically in the areas of general management and organizations. These courses are taught at the undergraduate and MBA levels and are delivered in-person, online and blended. The appointee will pursue pedagogical innovation and engage in university or community service.


The Charlton College of Business is an AACSB-accredited school with seven undergraduate degree programs, an MBA program and several specialized Master's degree programs, offered in the traditional face-to-face, blended and fully online formats. Located on the South Coast of Massachusetts, Dartmouth is near some of the most beautiful coastlines in the United States. Dartmouth is also conveniently located near Cape Cod, Providence, Newport, and Boston. New York is a three-hour train ride away.
