Responsibilities:

Requirements
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • Minimum three to five years work experience
  • Enrolled in or vocational education or four years formal apprenticeship preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of blueprint reading, GD & T
  • Extensive knowledge of accepted inspection practices
  • Knowledge of CNC programming and G & M code
  • Basic to intermediate tool probe
  • Demonstrated ability at operating computer numerical control machines
  • Ability to read blueprints to ensure accuracy in part making
  • Ability to speak basic English language
  • Must be able to understand three and four axis machining.

Job Summary : As a Manual/CNC Machinist at PRL, you will be responsible for operating various manual/CNC horizontal or vertical milling/boring machines and lathes. Your primary duty will be machining various parts to customer specifications from castings, bar stock, and other materials. You will work following blueprints, standards, and specifications, as well as verbal and written procedures, to ensure the highest quality and precision in every part you produce.
Job Qualifications :
Education : A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Advanced education, such as an Associate's degree, is preferred.
Experience : Related machining experience is very desirable. An appropriate combination of education and experience will be considered.
Skills : Ability to use manual machine tools (set-ups, machine positioning, etc.), read and interpret blueprints, and use various measuring tools. Knowledge of shop math, trigonometry, and geometric dimensioning/tolerancing is essential. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and read/write in English. Ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
Job Duties and Responsibilities :
1. Set up and operate a variety of manual and/or CNC machines in a productive, quality, and safe manner, following a reasonable training period. Use hand tools and measuring tools.
2. Use CNC machines, including familiarity with G and M programming codes, and the ability to make minor program edits at the machine.
3. Demonstrate knowledge of correct speeds, feeds, work holding methods, cutting tools, and cutting tool materials and shapes, print/drawing interpretation, routine equipment and machine maintenance, and measuring/finishing methods.
4. Machine parts to within tolerances as close as .0002\".
5. Participate in the design of jigs and fixtures for machining parts.
6. Follow verbal and written instructions, sketches, and blueprints. Communicate with co-workers in both verbal and written form, and advise others without written procedures.
7. Operate forklift trucks, overhead cranes, and hand/floor trucks as needed.
8. Verify that the information on the documents corresponds with the parts. Record the information following the instructions. Maintain accurate records of work performed, as requested.
9. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area. Perform other duties as assigned.
10. Work independently with limited supervision required, generally limited to work scheduling, supply needs, clarification of confusing instructions, and direct/indirect needs as may arise.
11. The Employer may assign additional duties to the Employee as required by business needs, provided such duties are reasonable and align with the Employee's qualifications.
12. Participate in annual required safety training.
Physical and Mental Efforts:
General: Extensive mobility is required, with some moderate-to-heavy lifting. The position requires occasionally lifting objects weighing more than 50 pounds, walking and standing for extended periods, examining objects closely, and hearing normal sounds with some background noise. The position requires concentration with some interruptions and attention to tasks for 45 to 60 minutes at a time.
