Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Imaging (Radiology) Technologist at our facility, you will perform professional duties involved in a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, with latitude for independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Position Purpose

What you will do:

  • General Sonographer; able to scan large and small parts

  • Performs diagnostic sonographic imaging and interventional procedures.

  • Produces real time images of optimum quality accurately and proficiently with the appropriate protocol for each exam. Knowledgeable in the proper use of the PACS and RIS systems in accordance with set protocols and the manufacturer recommendations.

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy    (normal, variant and pathological states).

  • Practices proper sterile technique. Adheres to infection control guidelines.

  • Room set up and patient preparation for diagnostic imaging procedure

  • Acquire and analyze these sonographic images

  • Perform office tests and administrative duties

Minimum Qualifications:

  • ARDMS required. 

  • BLS certification is required.

Formal Education / Training:
Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology and subsequent Accreditation through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Must be in compliance with CE Requirements.

The technologist must be able to troubleshoot basic maintenance, participate in QA, and resolve issues related to image processing and the image archiving system. The technologists will adhere to, and maintain, the expected imaging competencies as outlined by management. Observe radiation, personnel, and patient safety measures. Maintains radiation safety protocol while handling radionuclides and pharmaceuticals used in the department. Completes daily logs and periodic tests performed as required by the license.   • Ability to follow PACS downtime procedures as a PACS Superuser and escalate any problem(s) or issue(s) to the PACS administrator or Designee if needed.
  • Troubleshoots and reports any equipment malfunctions to the Director/Manager and/or Biomedical personnel; does appropriate follow-up.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Radiology Technology or other accepted and approved equivalent required

Experience

  • 1 year of experience in a clinical nuclear medicine setting preferred
  • Basic computer experience required

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • Nuclear Medicine Technology (N) by ARRT or NMTCB required
  • State Licensure required
    • Texas: MRT by TMB
    • Louisiana: LRT (N) or (F) by LSRTBE
    • New Mexico: NMT by MIRTP NMED
  • BLS required

    • Vascular Sonography (VS) by ARRT
    • Breast Sonography (BS) by ARRT
    • Breast (BR) RDMS by ARDMS
    • Adult Echocardiography (AE) RDCS by ARDMS
    • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by ARDMS
  • State Licensure is required if in New Mexico
    • DMS by MIRTP NMED
  • BLS required
