Under the direction of the General Counsel within the Office of Victim Services (OVS) the temporary Senior Attorney, SG-25, will be responsible for the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Reviewing victim compensation investigation eligibility determinations and responding to legal questions from OVS victim compensation investigators
  • Researching and developing agency materials in collaboration with other OVS units, including but not limited to:
  • Guidance for OVS victim compensation investigators
  • Guidance for OVS grant unit staff
  • Legal memoranda
  • Supporting the research, drafting, and negotiation of legislative proposals in collaboration with General Counsel and other OVS units as needed
  • Collaborating with other Senior Attorney to prepare agency response and work with the Attorney General’s Office (AG) to secure injunctions on behalf of crime victims/surviving family members and other legal matters related to the state’s enforcement of the β€œSon of Sam” law [Exec law, Β§632-a], including:
  • Identifying qualifying crimes,
  • Identifying potential victims/surviving family members and notifying them, and
  • Vacating injunctions.
  • Collaborating with other Senior Attorney, as needed, to evaluate victim compensation appeal requests, make recommendations related to reopening victim compensation claims, prepare victim compensation file summaries, and prepare administrative appeal determinations.
  • Reviewing document disclosure requests, reviewing documents for necessary redaction, and preparing privilege logs when necessary.
  • Preparing and/or reviewing draft contract/MOU language.
  • Attend interagency, intra-agency, and stakeholder meetings as requested.


Minimum Qualifications: NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Assistant Attorney 1, NS (equated to SG-18): Law School Graduation (or other eligibility to take the NYS Bar Examination)


Assistant Attorney 2, NS (equated to SG-20): Admission to New York State Bar


Assistant Attorney 3, NS (equated to SG-22): One year as Assistant Attorney 2 or admission to the New York State Bar and one year of subsequent professional legal experience


Senior Attorney, SG-25: Admission to the New York State Bar and two years of post-licensure professional legal experience.


NY HELPS: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).

For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.

COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Job Description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for profitable revenue growth across all departments of the SGS Food business to include Microbiology, Chemistry, R&D, and Technical Services within the assigned territory. Client interactions will be anchored in the spirit of establishing strategic long-term, mutually beneficial business partnerships. This is a remote-based position requiring approximately 50% travel, including overnight if needed. The state territories covered in this role include: Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Texas

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Source and close new business from current and potential target accounts utilizing the tools provided for effective execution of the sales process
  • Establish strong relationships with an existing client base in the given territory at various levels with key business and technical contacts
  • Annual comprehensive business reviews will be performed on key accounts as defined by the VP of Business Development. Maintenance meetings of existing accounts will be performed on an ongoing basis as needed to ensure client satisfaction with lab partnership. Efforts will be reflected in the monthly meeting metrics
  • Must be able to review monthly sales reports for trends and respond appropriately in a timely manner
  • Act as the face of the company to food companies within the given territory (external clients)
  • Act as the face of food companies to company (internal clients) by working with CS, Ops, CBE, and IT to relay information critical to the success of the account
  • Responsible for facilitating and owning the Onboarding Process when initiating new accounts
  • Attend assigned trade shows and participate in customer-focused marketing plans as directed
  • Manage all aspects of the sales cycle including writing and presenting professional business proposals and assist with RFP/RFQ responses as directed

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field. Or a combination of education and related experience Required
  • Working knowledge of food testing laboratories through previous work or sales experience Required
  • 5+ years in the industry or equivalent experience Required

  • Commercial accountability – Measure overall product performance through the creation and ownership of appropriate business and product metrics and KPIs. Ensure effective product instrumentation and telemetry is always in place. Regularly report agreed upon metrics including revenue and EBITDA to senior leadership.

  • Product development - Lead cross functional development teams building consensus within the organization to create market driven solutions. Drive individual projects through the internal processes ensuring that each new product meets financial and business objectives.
  • Sales enablement – As an accountable business owner, lead and manage the creation of product marketing materials and product support to the sales force to maximize product revenues. Lead the creation of sales tools and materials to support the selling process. Lead development of the necessary collateral to support effective marketing of our products, including product presentations, product demos and videos, product introduction/training materials, data sheets, white papers and thought leadership pieces.
  • Product launch – As an accountable business leader, lead drive software go-to-market plans designed to increase revenue and improve market position in strategic and emerging market segments. Develop price structures, product bundling strategies and associated product positioning. Plan and execute launch for new product releases. This role will also be responsible for establishing measurement and ROI of new products and services.


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree with major course work in business, computer science, engineering, or a related field is required. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Experience with consumer transactional products such as digital / mobile wallet payments required.
