Job Overview:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire production process at our activated carbon manufacturing facility. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the entire activated carbon production process to ensure on-time and cost-effective output.

The Opportunity:
FSEC invites applications for an Undergraduate Summer Research Internship focused on low-carbon methanol production from fugitive methane resources. This internship will take place at M2X Energy Inc. (Rockledge, Florida), where the intern will collaborate with both researchers and industry engineers. All research and hands-on activities will occur at this off-campus sponsor facility.
Responsibilities:
This program focuses on supporting activities related to process development, optimizations and designs of portable, modular gas-to-methanol technologies in partnership with M2X Energy Inc., which involves, but is not limited to:
Development and review of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Creation and support of CAD drawings for equipment layouts, skid assemblies, and process components.
Design, assembly, and experimentation with benchtop instruments, including data acquisition and analysis.
Basic process control support and maintenance of engineering and manufacturing documentation.
Assembly, modification, and operation of flow reactors and adsorption testing systems (such as breakthrough rigs) to generate data for pressure swing adsorption (PSA) modeling and validation.
Participation in chemical laboratory experiments and processes, including but not limited to testing adsorbent materials to enhance methane recovery from renewable natural gas streams.
Preparation of written and oral reports summarizing experimental results, processes, and findings.
Minimum Qualifications:
Enrollment or recent completion in an engineering or science undergraduate program and basic proficiency in one or more of the following: chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or chemistry with scientific lab work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with process diagrams and CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) and interpreting or drafting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
Hands-on experience in bench-scale instrumentation development and experimentation.
Familiar with piping assembly, fittings, and gas cylinder handling.
Track records with detailed documentation of experimental procedure, SOPs plus good data management skills.
Familiarity with data processing, analysis and computing tools such as Excel, Origin, MATLAB and Python.
Interest in manufacturing, process engineering and clean technology processes.
Hands-on aptitude and comfortable working in a shop, laboratory and/or manufacturing environment.
Strong communication skills and awareness of other technical staff, external partners, equipment/instrument manufacturers, etc.

Overall, the objective is to achieve high plant on stream factors utilizing the Kuraray maintenance tools provided and adapted to meet the needs of Calgon Carbon with site specific gap analysis and corrective action plans. Additionally, the Director - Manufacturing Maintenance and Projects will have a global responsibility as maintenance liaison with Kuraray in support of MTE and DX strategies.
Budget for minor projects (up to $1MM) is approximately $30MM for the US Plants. The maintenance budgets for the US plants total is $34MM, and the average annual turnaround spend for the Prime lines is another $5MM per year
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Identify project needs, oversee the creation of AR's, plan work, and execute projects for all America’s capital project requirements
- Manage others, train, and delegate these activities to subordinates to expedite improvement
- Oversee the development of all aspects of the America’s maintenance budget, including capital projects
- Strive to maintain spending at the budgeted level
- Serve as Calgon Carbon’s subject matter expert (SME) pertaining to maintenance in its virgin carbon manufacturing and reactivation facilities and liaison with Kuraray regarding all matters maintenance related
- Oversee the scheduling, planning, and execution of plant maintenance turnarounds on a basis consistent with the maintenance strategy
- Develop a maintenance strategy that aligns with the plants' goals to reduce product costs and reduce required maintenance capital
- Manage line managers responsible for supervising the day to day activities of maintenance teams while moving them toward self direction
- Identify training and development needs of maintenance teams and insure that those needs are met
- Manage vendor relationships personally and via subordinates to insure that plant needs (quality, costs, and timing) are met

Position: Warehouse Technician 2
Location: Columbus Plant – Columbus, OH

The Warehouse Technician 2 is an experienced position whose duties will include: Transporting reactivated carbons, supplies, and equipment to and from reactivation plant to/from offsite warehouse. Shipping and receiving finished product and spent carbon; ensure accuracy of all inbound and outbound shipments; store and reorganize stock; operates forklifts and material handling equipment; keep warehouse clean, safe and orderly. Arrange for transportation of orders outbound orders as needed. The Warehouse Technician 2 will help to maintain warehouse inventory levels and assist in physical inventory and cycle counts and perform various SAP functions as needed
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Responsible for following all safety policies, JSP's and guidelines to ensure a safe and environmentally compliant workplace and facility
- Maintain a positive work environment and strong customer service levels for both external and internal customers
- Effective utilization of warehouse storage capacity and equipment and compliance with required warehouse standards (food grade facility, NSF, etc.)
- Responsible for accurate receiving, picking, and shipping of materials
- Follow warehouse inventory control procedures, participate in monthly cycle counts, and annual physical inventories

- Work with Landstar for daily shipping activities
- Request COA’s as needed for deliveries by emailing pick ticket to QA
- Exports - Coordinate use of special pallets, arrange booking for delivery, request COA, complete customs paperwork and distribute as needed
- Troubleshoot problem orders or discrepancies in inventory
- Perform warehouse operations including shipping/receiving, inventory management
- Maintain full knowledge of their job functions and duties
- Be able & willing to step into any position when needed for job completion
- Control and comply with all requirements for shipping hazardous materials including
- Contacting forwarder to arrange shipments - compiling the booking information, DG forms, SDS, COA’s to send to said forwarders – and any additional paperwork they may require as different forwarders requirements vary
- Creating new labels to apply to shipments/samples
- Correct any issues as needed
- Attending training for IATA, IMO and Hazmat in addition to keeping up with regulatory changes that occur in between the training

Under the supervision of the E&A supervisor or group leader, the Welder II will perform all functions under this job description. The Welder II perform tack welding and finish welding of piping systems utilizing both SMAW, FCAW, SAW, GTAW and GMAW welding procedures (certification to CCC procedures required). The Welder II will weld small vessels and structural components utilizing SMAW, FCAW, SAW, GTAW and GMAW welding processes. The Welder II will perform these procedures to meet CCC certified procedures (These may include ASME, API, AWS, and ANSI code certification). Materials may include carbon steel, stainless steel and various other nickel-based alloys.

- Able to back-gouge using carbon-air-arc or plasma for full penetration welds
- Clean and polish welds to company design specifications
- Able to pass non-destructive testing of pressure retaining welds, on both pipe and vessels
- Works from drawings/sketches to determine weld size, weld location and weld process
- Inspects own work to ensure compliance to drawings and weld procedures and makes necessary repairs
- Assist with incoming parts inspection and final product inspection and complete appropriate documentation

Under the direction of the Production Supervisor or Group Leader, the Blaster will perform tasks as necessary in the fabrication and maintenance of Calgon Carbon Corporation products and equipment. Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
- Abrasive blasts interior and exterior of tanks and piping systems to achieve the specified SSPC surface cleanliness and surface profile
- Assists sprayers as required
- Inspects interior and exterior lining and coating systems on purchased and produced equipment
- Coatings include but are not limited to:Plasite4110, 4006,Ceilcote242, epoxy, polyurethane-based coatings
- Prepares equipment for painting and coating by cleaning, solvent wiping, taping and papering prior to painting

The Plant and Microbial Biology Department at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for an Assistant or Associate Project Scientist in the Shih Lab, in the area of photosynthesis.
This project is a highly collaborative effort between the Shih lab and Niyogi lab at UC Berkeley focused on photosynthesis, carbon fixation, and cyanobacteria. This work will focus on utilizing molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, cloning, and bacterial genetics, to study the genetic basis of carbon fixation. The position will also combine physiological measurements such as chlorophyll fluorescence and gas exchange. The position will have the opportunity to help mentor both graduate and undergraduate students. Within UC Berkeley, the successful candidate will have access to interacting with other photosynthesis labs at UC Berkeley and the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
The position will investigate photosynthesis and carbon fixation in Cyanobacteria using several approaches, including molecular biology, synthetic biology, and microbial genetics. They will be expected to contribute to experimental design, data interpretation, and the writing of their research for publication. They will have the opportunity to present their research in both informal settings (e.g., lab meetings) and larger forums (e.g., scientific meetings).

The Role: Make an Impact
The Graduate Sustainability Intern will help implement Lactalis US Yogurt's (LUSY) sustainable agriculture strategy to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in alignment with science-based targets. This role will focus on measuring farm-level carbon footprints and supporting the adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices that increase soil carbon sequestration and reduce emissions from enteric fermentation, manure management, feed production, and energy use.
