Job Title: Emissions Certification Engineer
Location: Dearborn, MI
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Emissions Certification Engineer to support regulatory certification and compliance activities for gasoline, diesel, and hybrid powertrain programs. The candidate will work closely with calibration, testing, and regulatory teams to ensure vehicles meet EPA and CARB emissions standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead vehicle and engine emissions certification submissions to EPA & CARB
- Prepare and manage certification documentation per CFR requirements
- Coordinate emission testing (FTP-75, US06, HWFET, WLTP, etc.)
- Support powertrain calibration teams to achieve emissions compliance
- Analyze emission test data and resolve compliance gaps
- Support OBD, evaporative emissions, and durability requirements
- Interface with regulatory agencies during audits and reviews
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of U.S. EPA & CARB regulations
- Hands-on experience in automotive emissions certification
- Background in Powertrain / Engine Calibration
- Familiarity with 40 CFR Part 86 & Part 600
- Experience working in OEM environment (Ford preferred)
Preferred:
- Hybrid / Electrified vehicle certification experience

Works collaboratively with the case management team, hospital care team, community partners and insurance companies to ensure that patient care needs are met regarding post-acute care prior authorizations.
Obtains and maintains contacts with insurance companies to streamline barrier removal.
Maintains knowledge of proper portal functionality and medical necessity requirements for post-acute care.
Understands payer requirements and how to apply benefits in various circumstances for post-acute care and is responsible for identifying medical criteria for post-acute care from chart review and developing an effective clinical packet to justify the level of care needed.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Duty 1: Initiates and manages the pre-certification process for patients transferring to post-acute care.
This includes collecting necessary patient information, submitting requests to insurance companies via portals, websites, or other required methods, and tracking the status of authorizations.
Duty 2.
Communicates with interdisciplinary teams.
Works closely with clinical staff, physicians, and other relevant departments to gather necessary clinical documentation and facilitate the approval process.
Duty 3.
Organizes and maintains accurate documentation.
This includes patient records, clinical documentation, and all correspondence related to authorization requests.
Duty 4.
Addresses and manages denials, communicates denied authorization requests to relevant parties and facilitates the appeals process for post-acute care placement.
Duty 5.
Documents all activities and communications related to the pre-certification process within relevant systems (e.g., EHR, patient management systems).
Duty 6.
Maintains positive relationships with managed care providers and works to ensure patient and provider satisfaction.
Duty 7.
Stays updated on payer policies and requirements and acts as a resource to team members and patients.
Duty 8.
Complies with HIPAA regulations and ensures confidentiality of patient information.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Previous experience in a medical office, hospital, or skilled nursing setting, specifically with managed care pre-certification.
Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare and Managed Care procedures.
Understanding of insurance verification and authorization processes.
Familiarity with medical terminology and coding (CPT/ICD-10).
Proficiency in using computer systems, including Microsoft Office applications and relevant healthcare software (e.g., EHR systems, insurance portals).

Key Responsibilities
- Comply with and stay current with changes in safety regulations such as EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and Cal-OSHA.
- Create and implement site specific Accident Prevention Plan for construction per EM 381 1-1.
- Create and review Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) and Work plans based on project schedule and definable features of work.
- Create, prepare, and train field staff members with “toolbox talks” on various job site safety practices and procedures
- Prepare safety documentation of various forms depending on nature of the project (lift plans, safety logs, daily safety plans, etc.)
- Ensure all required safety submittals are created, submitted, and approved by the GDA (Government Development Association) well in advance of scheduled preparatory meetings.
- Interact with Superintendent, subcontractors, owner’s representatives, and other contractors on behalf of the company to resolve safety challenges.
- Assist the construction team in incident notification procedures.
- Conduct or assist with incident investigations to determine root cause and identify corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training as needed for the projects.
- Develop and enforce the site-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP).
- Lead morning tailgate safety meetings and morning stretches.
- Conduct and document daily safety and health inspections through the entirety of the shifts.
- Maintain site safety records, such as inspection logs, near-miss reports, safety and health deficiency tracker, and daily production reports.
- Serve as Environmental Officer when required.
- Oversee disposal of substances according to environmental guidelines.
- Ensure statutes, regulations, and codes are clearly understood and met.
- Maintain appliable site safety reference material on the job site.
- Attend project meetings.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualification & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Health/Safety/Environmental Management, or similar degree
- Minimum five years’ experience in construction safety
- MUST HAVE EM 385-1-1 40 HOUR CERTIFICATION (proof of certification required)
- Must have OSHA 30 Certification (yellow card or certificate within last 3 years)
- Experience with federal construction projects
- Experience creating construction safety documentation (APP, AHJ, Daily Safety Log, Project Safety Plans, Site Safety Records, Inspection Logs, Near-Miss Reports, etc.
- Ability to pass a background check to gain access to work on military bases
- Continuing safety training and evaluations as determined by Corporate Safety Officer
Preferred:
- CQMC Certification
- Heavy Lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and physical stamina required, and ability to work in various weather conditions
- CPR/ First Aid/ AED training certification preferred
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.
- Ability to create images as examples of proper safety techniques within safety documentation

About the Job
As a Certification Technician II, you will independently test and certify HEPA-filtered equipment such as biological safety cabinets, chemical fume hoods, and cleanroom environments at customer sites. In this role, you may also lead cleanroom certification projects and support other technicians onsite while ensuring compliance, safety, and customer satisfaction.
