Job Description:

Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Safety, the Regional EHS Coordinator achieves operational health and safety goals through a proven, pro-active approach in safety management. Working closely with facility leadership, Regional Environmental Managers, and Corporate Safety, the Regional EHS Coordinator will develop consistent and uniform safety practices specific to the site’s operational safety hazards. This position is responsible for implementing safety programs and assisting with environmental programs monitoring and training for their assigned region.

The Regional EHS Coordinator works in the following essential functions by area:

Health& Safety (H&S)

• Leads and coordinates the implementation and monitoring of the effectiveness of the safety and health program.
• Implements processes and training necessary to ensure compliance.

Environmental

• Work with our environmental department to assist with personnel training and inspections.

Regional Operational Safety

• Works closely with operations and management to understand industry specific equipment and associated health and safety risks.
• Works with each manager to identify incident trends and solutions to prevent any future injuries.
• Performs incident and injury investigation, root cause analysis and ensures corrective actions are developed to prevent repeat events.
• Working knowledge of: Local/State/Federal Safety requirements; NFPA compliance; National Electric Code; Workers Compensation implications.
• Acts as a technical resource responsible for maintaining specific programs such as contractor safety, fall prevention, illness and injury prevention programs, accident investigations, hazard communication, emergency action plan(s) and ergonomics programs.
• Evaluates equipment design, administrative procedures, and training requirements to establish best management practices and safe work practices.
• Provides health and safety coaching/assistance to develop managers and safety teams.

The Regional EHS Coordinator should have the following qualifications:

• BS in Health and Safety preferred; 3 - 5-year heavy industrial safety experience required.
• Knowledge, skills, and ability to execute local, state, and federal health and safety laws and other government compliance regulations.
• Experience in heavy manufacturing or industrial environment required.

This position will work closely with the trade partner’s leadership team and site safety management to ensure compliance with OSHA standards and project-specific safety requirements. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on field safety professional with experience supporting construction or mission-critical environments.

Director of Risk and Safety (EHS / Safety & Compliance) Responsibilities:

Fire Inspection & Emergency Preparedness

• Coordinate monthly fire drills, annual fire inspections, emergency preparedness drills,
• and elopement drills across all communities; document results and ensure follow-up compliance.
• Maintain and oversee the company Emergency Preparedness Manual and prepare required Department of Human Services filings.
• Provide annual fire extinguisher training and deliver Department of Human Services “train-the-trainer” instruction for coworkers responsible for new hire and annual fire safety training.

Safety Programs & Risk Management

• Develop, implement, and maintain company safety programs, policies, and annual safety objectives supporting operations across all communities.

• Monitor OSHA 300 and 300A logs and train campus office managers on OSHA incident reporting procedures.
• Monitor lost-time injuries, illnesses, and workers’ compensation claims and support prevention efforts.
• Maintain the Hazard Communications Program and required OSHA safety documentation.
• Prepare OSHA and Department of Labor reporting and review safety inspections, committee reports, and incident investigations to ensure appropriate follow-up and corrective action.

Position Summary

This role will provide leadership and oversight of EHS activities across local manufacturing and warehousing operations.

The EHS Manager will report directly to the Director of Environmental, Health, and Safety, with a dotted line to the Plant Manager, ensuring alignment between corporate EHS initiatives and plant-level execution.

This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations, as well as PPC’s internal policies and programs. It will also collaborate with internal stakeholders and external service providers, including insurance carriers, brokers, and consultants, to implement and continuously improve EHS systems, training, and best practices.

Position Responsibilities

The EHS Manager will be responsible for leading, developing, and implementing programs to maintain a safe and compliant workplace. Specific responsibilities include:

Compliance & Program Management

• Develop and implement programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
• Maintain and promote EHS policies and procedures throughout the site.
• Create and manage plans to ensure EHS training complies with or surpasses regulatory standards.
• Perform risk assessments and create strategies to reduce hazards.
• Oversee the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.

Operational Support & Oversight

• Ensure safety gear (e.g., PPE, forklifts, overhead cranes, machine guards, hearing protection) is accessible, maintained properly, and being used.
• Ensure that routine inspections (e.g., fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, machine guards, warehouse racks, grounds) are carried out and documented.
• Manage the implementation of waste reduction and sustainability projects to lessen environmental impact.
• Work with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into every part of operations.
• Keep the Plant Leadership Team updated on EHS program performance and compliance status.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Keep all necessary safety, accident, and environmental records and documentation.
• Develop and share an EHS Scorecard to monitor performance and promote improvements.
• Attend monthly EHS meetings with site and corporate personnel.
• Serve as the local representative for the company’s Safety Center of Excellence (COE) and Green Team.
• Perform other related duties assigned to support the success of the EHS program.

Skills And Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety management, EHS Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Safety Programs: Hands-on experience in developing, implementing, and managing a Behavior-Based Safety (BBS) program.
• EHS Management Systems: Experience with Environmental, Health & Safety Management systems (VelocityEHS or similar).
• Committees & Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead safety committees and foster cross-functional engagement.
• Training: Proficient in creating and conducting EHS training programs for diverse groups.
