The Florida Solar Energy Center (FSEC), is the state's premier energy research institution. The Opportunity:
FSEC invites applications for an Undergraduate Summer Research Internship focused on low-carbon methanol production from fugitive methane resources. This internship will take place at M2X Energy Inc. (Rockledge, Florida), where the intern will collaborate with both researchers and industry engineers. All research and hands-on activities will occur at this off-campus sponsor facility.
Responsibilities:
This program focuses on supporting activities related to process development, optimizations and designs of portable, modular gas-to-methanol technologies in partnership with M2X Energy Inc., which involves, but is not limited to:
Development and review of Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Creation and support of CAD drawings for equipment layouts, skid assemblies, and process components.
Design, assembly, and experimentation with benchtop instruments, including data acquisition and analysis.
Basic process control support and maintenance of engineering and manufacturing documentation.
Assembly, modification, and operation of flow reactors and adsorption testing systems (such as breakthrough rigs) to generate data for pressure swing adsorption (PSA) modeling and validation.
Participation in chemical laboratory experiments and processes, including but not limited to testing adsorbent materials to enhance methane recovery from renewable natural gas streams.
Preparation of written and oral reports summarizing experimental results, processes, and findings.
Minimum Qualifications:
Enrollment or recent completion in an engineering or science undergraduate program and basic proficiency in one or more of the following: chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or chemistry with scientific lab work.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with process diagrams and CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) and interpreting or drafting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
Hands-on experience in bench-scale instrumentation development and experimentation.
Familiar with piping assembly, fittings, and gas cylinder handling.
Track records with detailed documentation of experimental procedure, SOPs plus good data management skills.
Familiarity with data processing, analysis and computing tools such as Excel, Origin, MATLAB and Python.
Interest in manufacturing, process engineering and clean technology processes.
Hands-on aptitude and comfortable working in a shop, laboratory and/or manufacturing environment.
Strong communication skills and awareness of other technical staff, external partners, equipment/instrument manufacturers, etc.

SUPERVISES: Part time /temporary non benefited staff, and students during the academic year and summer component and all academic and non academic student activities in the absence of the director.
SUMMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION: Grant -Funded Integral position for a U.S. Department of Education funded Upward Bound Program Trio grant. This position is contingent upon grant funding. Develops implements and coordinates a student assessment system and plan of action to strengthen the students' academic skills, particularly in the areas of weakness identified through the assessment system. Evaluates all students periodically and documents their progress (using individual educational plans, IEP's) and maintains systematic records and produces reports on the program's academic support and instructional activities (both summer and academic year components). The Upward Bound Program works individually and in groups with educationally, economically and/or socially disadvantaged high school students to equip them with the skills and motivation necessary to successfully complete high school and be accepted into a post-secondary institution of higher education.
EXAMPLES OF PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans and implements academic tutoring and mentoring to meet the individual needs of the program's students for the academic year component.
- Trains and supervises six- eight part-time tutor/mentors and one part time Master Tutor
- Completes required program evaluations and submits them to the Upward Bound Office at the close of each school quarterly marking period.
- Reports quarterly on programmatic developments and curricula design.
- Travels between satellite programs at area schools and attends Saturday sessions.
- Conducts home visits and participates in parental conferences at the request of the Director
- Acts as liaison between UMass Dartmouth and area high schools.
- Assists seniors and parents in completing all forms necessary for college admissions and financial aid.
- Tracks students' post-secondary persistence rates.
- Develops academic programs for Saturday sessions in consultations with teachers and Director.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree with demonstrated experience in fields related to the objectives of the project

Sections of a total project estimate will be delegated to the employee to prepare estimated quantities and costs. Role description:
The Project Lead the Way (PLTW) internship program is a unique initiative to equip our future engineers and plant leaders within the company with the experiences and skills to make them successful within Ardagh Glass Packaging. It is designed to provide solid glass experience for hands-on individuals who are seeking a career in manufacturing. The objective of the internship program is to translate PLTW theoretical knowledge into broad manufacturing experience and provide a sound understanding of the glass composition and production process including technical, quality, and safety skills.
Job Responsibilities:
The program will consist of project assignments that will lay a strong foundation for future careers in manufacturing, helping members become familiar with glass manufacturing operations.
- Become assimilated into the Ardagh Glass Packaging organization by participating in a comprehensive orientation program
- Be assigned to a mentor within Ardagh Glass Packaging
- Be exposed to and work on special projects (50%~ of the workload) to help the plants meet goals and leverage learning from work experiences
- Present an end-of-internship summary to the Ardagh Glass Packaging executive leadership team
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Must be 18 years of age
- Ability to complete a 3-month internship from May-August 2026
- Cumulative GPA of a 2.6
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of PLTW coursework
- Ambition to pursue a career in the manufacturing industry
Work Environment:
- Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hearing and eye protection, steel toe boots, and other PPE
- Must be willing to travel to corporate office (Fishers, IN) for final week

The Opportunity
- Serve as a core faculty member within the Emergency Medicine Residency Program and play a key leadership role in medical education.

- Coordinate the weekly educational conference, journal club, and special sessions (e.g., M&M, procedural workshops, board review).

- Assist with annual program evaluation, recruitment, and ACGME site visit preparation.
- Participate in CCC and PEC meetings and serve as a mentor to residents.

Required Experience and Competencies
- Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician (ABEM/AOBEM) required.
