Duties

MRO Buyer duties – approximately 50% of duties

  • Order assigned MRO requirements for TRI and Sweets Mix plants from authorized requisitions. Generate purchase orders with appropriate terms and conditions.
  • Source materials for best pricing per Tootsie Roll’s corporate procurement policy. Ensure competitive bidding on appropriate purchases.
  • Support the Tool Crib to request quotes when needed.
  • Source new MRO vendors when needed.
  • Negotiate terms of purchase with vendors as appropriate, i.e. delivery time, payment terms, freight terms.
  • Expedite critical purchases.
  • Follow up with vendors on orders placed. Track and log orders from confirmation to receiving the goods.
  • Work with Tool Crib to initiate bills of lading for items returned to suppliers, and to follow up on claims for shortages and/or incorrect shipments.
  • Oversee the maintenance of necessary records (warranties, specifications, detailed drawings as needed).
  • Participate in or lead specific initiatives in MRO, when requested by management.
  • Promptly clear blocked invoices on the “Matching Holds Report” for price and/or receipt problems.



Category management, data analysis, and special projects – approximately 50% of duties

  • Manage and track corporate indirect materials cost-savings projects.
  • Develop and manage supplier scorecards.
  • Analyze and report monthly PPV (Purchase Price Variance) for direct materials.
  • Update/manage corporate indirect contracts database.

  • Perform periodic RFPs (Request for Proposals) for minor category suppliers such as pallets, uniforms, and shipping supplies.

  • Quote out new Marketing-driven projects with existing and new suppliers in support of Purchasing Managers.

Full-Time | On-site (Pelham, AL) | Experience Printing Labels Required


GoldLeaf Print & Packaging is seeking an experienced Label Press Operator to join our production team. This role is ideal for someone who understands roll-fed label production and takes pride in producing high-quality, consistent work in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll be responsible for running label jobs from setup through completion while maintaining quality, efficiency, and attention to detail.

What You’ll Do

  • Operate roll-fed label printing presses for pressure-sensitive labels
  • Set up, run, and monitor label jobs to ensure quality and consistency
  • Review job tickets, artwork, and specifications prior to production
  • Perform press adjustments, troubleshooting, and basic maintenance
  • Inspect printed labels for color accuracy, registration, and defects
  • Work closely with prepress, finishing, and production teams
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area

LOCATION: Rochester, NY


SCHEDULE: 12 hour shifts rotating day/night schedule


SUMMARY: Identifies and segregates defective material within individual slit rolls. Combines leftover good material into finished rolls and palletizes for shipment to the customer.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

  • Facilitate on the job training and instruction for team members on the correct use of tools and equipment to ensure proper safety and operating procedures are followed.
  • Mounts slit rolls of product onto shaft of machine using lift cart. Removes rolls as well.
  • Sets up and makes necessary adjustments to the machine.
  • Must be able to identify defects and splice good material together per spec.
  • Reads and understands specs of products being run. Must know packaging materials required for palletizing finished product also. Occasionally uses hand tools to prepare packaging materials.
  • Completes daily production reports.
  • Operates stretch wrap machine to wrap finished pallets.
  • Regularly cleans machine and surrounding area.
  • Actively participates in safety programs and makes safety observations. Follows plant safety rules.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Dr Winder experience a plus.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
