QA Engineer

Portland, Oregon | Creative Technology Studio

We don’t build ordinary software.

We create immersive brand experiences, interactive environments, and storytelling platforms used by some of the most dynamic companies in the world. From motion-driven installations to large-scale digital environments, our work blends software, hardware, design, and content into experiences that people don’t just see — they feel.

We are looking for a QA Engineer to help ensure everything we create performs flawlessly in the real world.

This is not a traditional QA role.

You will be the person shaping how quality works across both bespoke project software and productised platforms, working at the intersection of creative technology, interactive development, and real-world deployment.

You’ll join a multidisciplinary team of developers, designers, technologists, and storytellers — and play a critical role in making sure what we build launches smoothly, runs reliably, and delivers the “wow” moment every time.

The Role

As QA Engineer, you will take ownership of testing across our software ecosystem — from interactive front-end applications to internal tools and content management systems.

You’ll work across two distinct types of work:

  • Experience-driven projects — bespoke, fast-moving, highly creative builds where every delivery is different
  • Product platforms — repeatable, structured software that must meet strict quality and reliability standards

This role requires someone who can operate independently, define processes, and build QA capability as the team continues to grow.

You will be the go-to person for quality, helping us move from reactive testing to a scalable, repeatable, and well-defined QA practice.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own QA across both project-based and product-based software development
  • Test interactive applications, CMS tools, and internal platforms across front-end and back-end environments
  • Build and maintain automated testing scripts and frameworks
  • Define QA processes that work for both structured products and fast-moving creative projects
  • Manage test data and environments to support reliable testing
  • Work closely with developers to identify, reproduce, and resolve issues quickly
  • Support deployment, versioning, regression, and release workflows
  • Produce clear documentation for internal teams and client delivery
  • Help establish QA standards as the software team continues to scale

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in QA / software testing across web, native, or interactive applications
  • Comfortable working independently as the primary QA specialist
  • Experience with automated testing tools or scripting (Python, JavaScript, or similar)
  • Understanding of QA methodology, regression testing, and deployment workflows
  • Ability to work across both structured products and bespoke project builds
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
  • Comfortable working in multidisciplinary teams
  • Clear communicator, able to work with developers, designers, and technical directors
  • Experience working on Windows environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience with creative / interactive frameworks (Cinder, TouchDesigner, Vue, etc.)
  • Experience testing AV / hardware / installation-based systems
  • Familiarity with CI/CD or deployment automation
  • Experience working in agencies, creative tech studios, or product teams

Why Join

Work on projects you won’t find anywhere else

Interactive environments, motion-driven installations, projection-mapped spaces, and immersive storytelling platforms.

Small team, big impact

You’ll be shaping how QA works, not just following a process.

Creative + technical culture

Developers, designers, strategists, and technologists working side-by-side.

Global work

Projects delivered around the world, across industries and technologies.

Room to build something

This role will help define how quality scales as the software team grows.

🏢 Remora

Remora is hiring a Director of Project Execution. This individual will manage customer deployments of Remora’s carbon capture systems, guiding projects from planning through commissioning. We’re a 50-person climate tech startup based in Detroit, MI. We're building a device that captures a semi-truck’s carbon emissions directly from the tailpipe. We’ve raised multiple rounds of funding from top investors like Lowercarbon Capital, Union Square Ventures, First Round Capital, Y Combinator, and Valor Equity Partners.

  • Support business development by identifying opportunities during planning to deepen customer partnerships.

Execute

  • Manage deployment activities end-to-end, from permitting through construction, installation, and commissioning.

  • Strong customer-facing skills with a proven ability to build trust and manage expectations.
  • Business development mindset, with the ability to identify and surface opportunities for account growth.
  • Knowledge of permitting, construction, and system integration (mechanical/electrical).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel 50%+.

Here’s what we value:

  • Mission First: We are laser-focused on our mission. We have chosen to take on the defining challenge of our time, and we don’t shy away from the hard decisions required to put our mission first, no matter how tough. The world needs our technology and it won’t happen any time soon if we don’t make it happen. We are a low-ego team, and we prioritize the mission over our self-interest. We think strategically with an eye to the long term, and we clearly separate what must be done well now, and what can be improved later, despite ambiguity.
  • Burning Urgency: Our hard-core intensity and work ethic match the crisis we’re in. We have a strong bias toward action, and we execute with focus and speed. In the absence of guidance, we take charge, lead our teammates, and accomplish our goals. We aren’t afraid to change course when something isn’t working, and we find solutions even when it seems like there are none. We are cool under pressure, and our quiet determination and drive are unwavering. We relentlessly push ourselves and each other to improve. We don’t accept adequate performance. Excellence is the expectation. Many would say our standards are unreasonably high, and many would say our goals are unreasonably bold, but we are hungry to be exceptional. We will never give up, no matter what. If we get knocked down, we get back up, every time. We will not fail.
  • Uncompromising Honesty: We are always honest with ourselves, our teammates, our customers, our investors, our suppliers, our communities, and all of our partners, especially about what’s not going well and what we don’t know. When we see issues, risks, or challenges, we speak up, and when we make mistakes, we admit them proactively and take full accountability. We challenge others directly when we disagree, even when it’s uncomfortable, and we seek this uncompromising honesty from others.
  • Treat People Exceptionally Well:We care intensely about everyone who is on this mission with us, and our standard is exceptional respect for our teammates, partners, and communities. Teammates who bring different perspectives and backgrounds are essential to our success, and we empower everyone to share their voice. We listen to truly understand. We constantly encourage and help our teammates, and inspire each other with our enthusiasm and optimism.
  • Joyful Curiosity: We love to learn, and we learn quickly. We explore the unknown with wonder and excitement. We reason from first principles. We generate original ideas with an open mind and test them quickly in the real world. We take risks and adapt as we discover more. We explore many ideas in parallel, and we don’t count on a silver bullet solution. We share our ideas freely with our teammates. We are skeptical about conventional wisdom, and we question every assumption and requirement. We are always looking for ways to simplify. We are rigorous and attentive to detail. We are eager to understand all aspects of our business and technology, and we contribute effectively outside our individual specialties. We never stop learning.

We’re focused on improving reliability, strengthening marketplace economics, and scaling into new markets.

Role Summary

This is a hands-on builder role. We’re looking for someone early in their career who wants to own real systems and see their work drive immediate impact. This is not a pure strategy role — you will be expected to build, test, and improve operational systems yourself.

You will own the supply side of the marketplace, including worker acquisition, onboarding, activation, utilization, and retention. You’ll also work across the business to improve how we operate, identify opportunities to increase revenue, and build systems that allow us to scale efficiently.

You will not rely on others to surface insights. You will pull data, build analyses, create workflows, and implement solutions directly.

• Reduce time from signup to first job

• Improve worker utilization and repeat engagement

• Develop simple systems to improve worker quality and reliability

Marketplace Operations

• Help balance supply and demand across markets

systems

• Improve how data flows between systems

• Automate repetitive processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work

• Create simple, reliable systems that can scale

Data and Reporting

• Pull and analyze data directly

• Build dashboards and reports to track key metrics

• Identify trends and take action quickly

• Use data to guide decisions, not just report on them

Growth and Monetization

• Identify opportunities to increase revenue from our existing base of workers and clients

• Test new ideas quickly and scale what works

• Support account growth by improving reliability and performance

Cross-Functional Work

Sales

• Align supply with expected demand

• Help identify capacity constraints

Account Management

• Improve service reliability for key accounts

• Help resolve issues when needed

Finance

• Support forecasting and cost visibility

• Improve contribution margin through operational improvements

KPIs and Success Metrics

• Worker activation rate

• Time to first job

• Worker utilization and repeat rate

• Fill rate consistency

• Reduction in operational issues or escalations

• Contribution margin improvement

• Revenue from new initiatives

Who This Is For

This role is a strong fit for someone who:

• Has 3–7 years of experience in operations, consulting, analytics, or a high-growth environment

• Started in a structured role (consulting, analytics, etc.) and wants to move into an operating role

• Has spent time at a startup or small team building real workflows

• Is comfortable working directly in tools like HubSpot, Airtable, Zapier, Slack, or similar

• Likes solving problems, building systems, and improving how things work

• Wants to take ownership early and grow into a larger role over time

Who This Is Not For

This role is likely not a fit if you:

• Prefer high-level strategy without hands-on execution

• Have spent most of your time managing large teams rather than building systems yourself

• Are looking for a highly structured, well-resourced environment

• Are not comfortable working directly in data and operational tools

Experience and Skills

As the gifting category evolves, discoverability, cultural relevance, and creator-driven influence have become critical drivers of brand growth and customer engagement across digital platforms.

We are seeking a commercially minded, culturally fluent marketing leader to build and lead our Creator & Cultural Growth engine across our portfolio of brands, including 1-800-Flowers, Harry & David, Cheryl’s Cookies, and Personalization Mall.

The Director, Creator & Cultural Growth will own the strategy and execution of our creator ecosystem, influencer partnerships, and organic social platforms, ensuring these channels drive measurable business impact while strengthening brand authority and discoverability.

This leader will define how creators, culture, and community contribute to growth — pairing compelling storytelling with disciplined measurement and a clear connection to revenue outcomes.

The role requires both strategic thinking and operational leadership: building a scalable creator strategy, growing high-performing organic channels, and developing a strong team that can translate campaign narratives into culturally relevant platform execution.

Key Responsibilities

Creator & Influencer Strategy

  • Develop and lead the enterprise influencer and creator strategy aligned to campaign priorities and brand positioning.

  • Ensure creators express the brand authentically while maintaining consistency with brand storytelling and campaign narratives.
  • Establish clear frameworks for creator partnerships, contracts, governance, and rights management.

Organic Social Platform Growth

  • Own and grow organic social presence across priority platforms including TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest.
  • Define the role of each platform within the broader marketing ecosystem, ensuring each contributes to discoverability, engagement, and demand.
  • Develop scalable publishing and content systems that enable consistent platform growth across multiple brands.
  • Identify emerging cultural trends and platform shifts that create new opportunities for brand relevance.

Creator Commerce & Demand Generation

  • Develop programs that connect creator influence to measurable demand generation and commerce outcomes.
  • Support social commerce initiatives such as TikTok Shop and creator-driven merchandising opportunities.
  • Partner with Merchandising and Brand Marketing to ensure creator programs support key product stories and revenue moments.
  • Ensure creator and organic programs contribute meaningfully to customer acquisition, engagement, and repeat purchase behavior.

Measurement, Economics & Commercial Accountability

  • Define and defend measurement frameworks for creator, influencer, and organic social programs.
  • Establish KPIs tied to discoverability, engagement, creator contribution to revenue, and customer acquisition.
  • Partner with Marketing Investment & Forecasting to evaluate ROI, incrementality, and long-term customer value.
  • Translate creator and cultural activity into clear business outcomes and executive-level reporting.

Cross-Channel Alignment & Story Integration

  • Ensure creator and organic programs align to the active campaign story and seasonal narrative.
  • Collaborate closely with Brand Marketing Managers to translate campaign themes into culturally relevant platform expression.
  • Partner with PR, Media, and Partnerships teams to ensure creator activity reinforces — rather than fragments — the brand message in market.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Recruit, develop, and lead a high-performing Creator & Cultural Growth team.
  • Establish clear roles across influencer partnerships, organic social leadership, and UGC operations.
  • Create repeatable processes, playbooks, and performance standards to scale the function effectively.
  • Build a team culture grounded in experimentation, accountability, cultural awareness, and commercial impact.

Qualifications

  • 8–12+ years of experience in influencer marketing, social media strategy, or creator ecosystem leadership within digital, retail, or eCommerce environments.
  • Proven ability to develop and scale creator and influencer strategies that drive measurable business results.
  • Strong commercial orientation with the ability to connect creator activity to revenue outcomes, customer acquisition, and lifetime value.
  • Deep understanding of social platforms, creator economics, and cultural trends shaping consumer behavior.
  • Experience building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Brand Marketing, Media, Creative, PR, etc.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort operating in fast-moving, test-and-learn environments.
