Position Summary:

Perform broad support engineering functions for engineering group in assistance to project and product related taskings from Engineering Management for the thermal product line. Enable successful task completion to produce technical value from the company.

Applies knowledge and understanding of process, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering to form documents, calculations, and drawings. Manages projects on multiple technologies, and contracts as required. Aids in procurement, document control and other technical administration functions. Develops new suppliers and supply philosophies for thermal products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Aids in growth of company with a focus on wastewater business line technical services, ranging from Biosolids treatment to conveyance and disposal management.
• Engages clients in meaningful discussions about their most critical issues and translates those discussions into opportunities to deliver complete Project solutions. Captures technical notes.
• Actively participate in pursuit decisions, and in proposal and pricing development.
• Engage and develop relationships with key Industry partners including Vendors, Contractors and Licensing agreements that can help advance position in the marketplace.
• Responsible for collecting all regulatory required data, compiling regulatory reports, maintaining files of analysis results and regulatory reports and coordinating research.
• Manage the technical aspect of projects through the engineering process by assigning work, controlling standards, and evaluating results while controlling engineering costs. Reporting on any variations to management.
• Assist in developing Vendor document requirements, Equipment submittals, Drawing Packages, O&M Manuals.
• Works in close collaboration with the Engineering Team and Product Manager.
• Troubleshoots and/or reviews wastewater treatment processes and facility designs; evaluates process technologies; performs initial data gathering, analysis of the existing systems, initial process design.
• Develops and maintains new procurement philosophy for the thermal product line.
• Develops alternative suppliers for industrial equipment.
• Aids in process hazard assessments, safety in designs.
• Aids in generating new ideas for product improvement, reliability, and cost reduction.
• Forming, maintaining, and improving standard designs of technologies for repeatability
• Aids in management of change planning.
• Responsible for managing documents in the document control process.
• Develop and provide ISA data sheets, engineering descriptions, preliminary/final engineering designs, and recommendations for process upgrades.
• Work across teams that provide solutions to client's needs.
• Performs any other duties related to Technical/Engineering as directed by the Senior Project Engineer or Director of Engineering.
• Assists in application design
• Tracks changes of design (manages change) on project documents such as P&ID, PFD, Mechanical Design Drawings, Electrical Design drawings.
• Assigns and tracks work required for project execution to a wide range of professionals (Mechanical Design, Electrical Design, Outside Vendors)

Minimum Requirements:

• BS Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering degree preferred, others suitable with commensurate experience.
• 7+ years of experience working with water and/or wastewater treatment plants and equipment
• Excellent proficiency to read, write, and understand the English language.
• Climb stairs and ladders, comfortable working at heights.
• Travel up to 25%, potential.
• >2 years of experience in working and interacting with customers and vendors.
• >2 years of experience in developing budgets, schedules, plans, and forecasts.
• Skilled in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, and AutoCAD products.

As a Principal System Safety Engineer, you will be accountable for the establishment and execution of the major safety programs.  The Safety Lead is a technical expert in missile safety as well as a project manager who establishes and monitors safety program execution, leads program safety teams, and interfaces with program & functional leadership.  This requires advanced application of MIL-STD 882E for System Safety (hardware, software, firmware, and personnel) for DoD Missile systems, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience as well as project management experience and leadership.  Location: Huntsville, AL

What You Will Do

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Principal System Safety Engineer to join us onsite in Huntsville, AL, as a Safety Lead with proven experience in executing all aspects of system safety.

• Practical application of project management skills: 

  • Create/update the strategy for the program to meet all its milestones with system safety features integrated into the product in compliance with contract and awarded funding.  

  • Create a schedule and integrate safety tasks and activities into program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). 

  • Plan/manage the safety program effort within the Program IMS. 

  • Understanding of the safety budget and tasking through close coordination with the responsible CAM / IPTL / product owner, including EACs. 

  • Mentor junior safety engineers.    

  • Remove barriers impacting team members. 

• Actively engage in engineering review boards, and configuration control boards to stay on top of design changes, and assess impacts to the established safety program.  

• Establish on-going feedback loop with functional and program management.  

• Lead & coordinate System Safety Working Group(s) between key Raytheon and Customer representatives.

•  Escalate risks to the appropriate level and follow through on corrective actions.  

• Interpret system requirements, customer specifications and military standards, so as to recommend compliance strategies to program leadership: Chief Engineer, Program Manager, Integrated Product Team Lead, etc.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Experience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400).  This includes hardware and software safety related tasks. 

• Experience with presentation skills to brief safety status to safety approval authority at technical reviews, safety review boards, and others as part of the safety approval process.

Job Description:

The Test Solutions Center (TSC) team within the Hardware Discipline Center is a multi-discipline organization that provides test solutions to support production lines for our entire missile portfolio. The software team within TSC is responsible for developing advanced windows application solutions for all Raytheon products. We are hands-on, designing with the latest technology and tools, and integrating state-of-the-art software solutions with the most advanced engineering systems in the world. TSC products are in engineering labs, in the field, and in production environments utilized for weapon system products. TSC has job opportunities across all phases of the engineering lifecycle, including demonstrations, early engineering tests, design verification tests, production, and post-production sustainment.

The Software Engineer II position is focused on the design, development, integration, and maintenance of software as a part of on-site factory support of systems to support weapon system product development. The selected candidate will develop applications, libraries, and instrument drivers using the software style, development language, and integrated development environment specified by the organization.

The selected candidate will contribute to multidiscipline engineering teams. Typical work involves the development of both engineering and production equipment, environments, and systems. As such, the candidate will contribute to the completion of all stages of product development for RMD weapon system products. They will be expected to work, either as a part of a team or independently, to design, develop, and implement system level applications in support of producing and maintaining weapon system products.

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Sr Principal Engineer Air Breathing Propulsion to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

As an engineer supporting the Air Breathing Propulsion section, the selected candidate will support the design and analysis needs of unclassified and classified programs in Redondo Beach, California.  Candidate will interface with customers to define study areas and report status on current programs and technology development efforts.  Candidate may interface with their management and technical teams to define business relationships and technology initiatives for both IRAD (Internal Research and Development) and CRAD (Contractual Research and Development) efforts.  This position will support a variety of programs performing analysis and integration activities.

Essential Functions:

• Lead engine performance and cycle analysis and provide guidance to programs
• Lead subsonic and supersonic inlet and exhaust design and integration

Basic Qualifications for a Sr Principal Engineer:

• Air Breathing Propulsion knowledge and experience on aircraft (subsonic, supersonic or hypersonic) or missile systems.
• Ability and willingness to travel 25% of the time.
• Must have an active DoD Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Education).
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
