Description

The Assistant Controller plays a critical role in supporting Finance Director in managing accounting operations for two Business Units. This position focuses on inventory control, cost accounting, and audit compliance, ensuring accurate financial reporting and adherence to industry standards. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.



Pay Range: $105,000.00 to $135,000.00 per year. Final compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inventory & Cost Accounting


    • Oversee inventory accounting processes, including valuation, reconciliation, and reporting.

    • Partner with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate inventory tracking and cost control.


  • Program Finance & EAC Management

    • Collaborate with Program Managers to monitor program financial performance.
    • Review Estimate at Completion (EAC) reports, ensuring accuracy and alignment with program budgets.
    • Track program costs, revenue recognition, and margin analysis for long-term contracts.
    • Provide financial insights to support program decision-making and risk mitigation.


  • Financial Reporting & Compliance

    • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
    • Ensure compliance with internal policies, SOX requirements, and external regulations.
    • Support internal and external audits, providing documentation and resolving inquiries.


  • Accounting Operations

    • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
    • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions as needed.
    • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.


  • Budgeting & Forecasting

    • Contribute to annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
    • Provide cost analysis and variance reporting to support decision-making.


  • Process Improvement & Systems

    • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve efficiency.
    • Support ERP system enhancements and automation initiatives.


  • Team Leadership


Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.



Position Requirements
  • Strong background in inventory management, cost accounting, and audit support.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Finance or Accounting.
  • Formal training and in-depth experience in cost accounting, financial accounting, local, state, and federal tax regulations, and financial analysis & reporting.
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting experience.

About the position


The Global Controller is a leader and operator who will report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO). Accountability:



The Cost Accountant is responsible for the compilation of cost information for products and services for a specific job or project. Key responsibilities will encompass the investigation of costs that differ from expectations, assisting in resolving those differences and preparing reports. The primary charge of this position will be to bring a higher level of operational effectiveness by streamlining and consolidating processes and systems. They will do this by investigating and analyzing current situations and recommending cost-effective solutions or improvements. In addition, they will analyze and prepare complex financial and business information, in support of various functional groups. Analyze a variety of financial documents, perform technical studies, and forecast trends impacting financial activities. Propose and introduce improvements to enhance customer satisfaction and the group's effectiveness. The location Controller will look to the Cost Accountant to provide accurate information upon which critical decisions will be based. In this role you will interface with all departments at various levels. More specific responsibilities include but will not be limited to the following:




  • Plan and conduct investigations, audits and analyses of a variety of financial information used in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, business plans, prices, costs of products, services and operations, and prepare reports and recommendations.
  • Review data and consult with governmental, customer and operating personnel to obtain financial information. Select or devise techniques to ensure optimal analysis of financial elements.
  • Conduct or coordinate special studies and investigations, and recommend measures to achieve resolution of complex and controversial financial problems. Continually review operations to reduce impact of potential problems and to take advantage of opportunities to achieve cost savings and improve customer satisfaction.
  • Design, establish, modify, verify and implement cost-effective and responsive programs to meet financial requirements, including a system of checks and balances to safeguard the Company's assets, particularly inventory.

As a member of the Maintenance team this role is responsible for effectively troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues on CNC equipment including aligning equipment and reading schematics. Be familiar with milling and turning equipment. This role is an hourly (non-exempt) classified position.

Position Requirements
  • Perform mechanical repairs (and rebuild) on all machines
  • Perform machine leveling and alignment on all machines
  • Pull and replace machine linear guides and ball screws.
  • Able to work with complex NC machine up to & including 5 Axis
  • Electrical & Electronic: Diagnose, locate and correct malfunctions of electrical & electronic system such as machine controls, recorders, servo/axis drives, servo motors, defective transformers, relays, contactors, fuses, sensors, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be able to read schematics and parts drawings, perform routine preventive maintenance on machines and facilities, and be proficient with the use of a multi meter.

SUMMARY: A program designed to train a skilled worker through a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction to become a Maintenance Technician at American Packaging Corporation. Maintenance Technicians are responsible for electrical and mechanical systems in the facility, which will include troubleshooting and routine maintenance activities. Throughout this program, they will learn to troubleshoot and repair equipment problems that affect productivity of the manufacturing group as well as plant facilities and subsystems. They will learn to be involved with the process improvements providing input in production problem solving.


Approval Process: Applicants will be interviewed and chosen based on their experience, knowledge, and overall work history. The chosen finalists will be required to take and pass an aptitude test.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Duration: 3-4 years for completion


Classroom Training: Several courses required through local school, such as Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical and Machining courses.

Hours of Work: As needed for class schedule, must be flexible.


On the Job Training:

A. Tool and Supply Room (~200 hrs)

Learn size of wire conduit and bending of conduit, use of tools and how to determine the size of load safety.


B. Lighting (~200 hrs)

Replacement of incandescent lamps and hot cathode fluorescent tubes and starters. Repair of fluorescent fixtures, replacing ballast, socket and wiring, code requirements. Repair of LED fixtures, replacing drivers and troubleshooting.


C. Trouble Shooting AC Wiring (~300 hrs)

Learn to locate and repair contactor problems, replacing contacts and contactor. Locate and replace blown fuses. Check and repair limit switches, push buttons, etc.


D. Special Circuits AC (~500 hrs)

Learn to read wiring diagrams. Operation of special control circuits, time delay switches, electrical braking.


E. Direct Current Machinery (~500 hrs)

Learn to locate and repair direct current motor troubles in fields, armatures, bearings, brush holders, and commutators. Knowledge of variable speed DC drives. Repair and maintenance of DC contactors and field control.


F. General Wiring (~500 hrs)

Learn proper handling and installation of power feeding, wiring, fuse panels, breakers, etc. Estimate load requirements. Code requirements. Install general wiring.


G. Instruments (~100 hrs)

Learn proper use and care of voltmeter, ammeter, watt meter, oscilloscope and megger, etc.


H. Computerized Controls (~600 hrs)

Programmable logic controllers: reading diagrams and schematics; maintaining and troubleshooting.


I. Care, Use and Safety of Tools and Equipment (~500 hrs)

The Manager, Tax is responsible for global tax reporting and compliance activities for the company.

  • Set machine coordinates or index points per CNC documents, including cutter offsets, tool heights, and probes, using appropriate measuring tools.

  • Run CNC programs to machine rough and precision cut parts, monitoring machine operations for unusual vibrations, sounds, or warning indicators.

  • Adjust machine settings (e.g., speeds and feeds) to correct machining issues or prepare the machine for subsequent operations, including head and spindle angles.

  • Troubleshoot and repair minor controller problems as required, and initiate requests for corrective action when machine malfunctions occur.

  • Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) functions as required to ensure quality standards are met.

  • Check completed work for defects and ensure parts meet drawing specifications, removing sharp edges with deburring tools as required.

  • Maintain personal and tool certifications and assist planners or programmers in determining final numerical control programs to optimize machine utilization and minimize setups.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience setting up and operating Manual and CNC machines

Position Responsibilities:

  • Independently operate and adjust numerically controlled Tape Laminator machines according to established shop practices and procedures.

  • Prepare for job setup by reviewing production orders, work orders (W/O), and setup documents, ensuring access to blueprints and drawings.

  • Verify that the correct materials and tools are issued and free from visible defects before starting work.

  • Identify the type of machine setup needed based on drawings and work orders, including flat tape laminating machines and automated fiber placement machines.

  • Check machine setups and parts completed by previous operators to ensure safe working conditions and job progress.

  • Prepare machines by obtaining materials from storage and performing necessary processes before operation, such as rolling tackifier and laying fiberglass.

  • Use precision measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, to align and level the layup table as required.

  • Retrieve and download CNC programs to the machine controller from the mainframe server.

  • Set machine coordinates and adjust offsets, tool heights, and laser settings using the controller keyboard or pendant.

  • Run the machine to lay graphite plies, copper ampe plies, and perform hand trimming and rework as necessary.

  • Monitor machine operations for unusual vibrations or sounds, checking gauges and displays for warnings.

  • Move finished parts and tools using appropriate material handling equipment as required.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations and using personal protective equipment.

  • Perform quality checks after each operation to ensure parts meet specifications and are free from defects.

  • Maintain personal and tool certifications, consulting with team leaders and supervisors on process or job-related issues as needed.
