Position Overview


Reporting to the Director, Network & Telecommunications, the Senior Network Engineer serves as the principal technical authority for the Cambridge Health Alliance enterprise voice and data network. This role entails the coordination of all network implementations, modifications, and maintenance, ensuring stringent alignment with the overall enterprise design. The incumbent will function as a senior engineer to LAN, WAN, and Cableplant engineers and technicians, thereby fostering high-quality, patient-centered care through the deployment of secure and innovative health IT solutions.



Key Responsibilities


  • Conduct research and furnish recommendations for strategically appropriate support tools and systems, including network management platforms, traffic analysis solutions, and retrospective/prospective projection modeling.
  • Lead the configuration, installation, implementation, and advanced troubleshooting of micro-segmentation, routers, switches, wireless controllers and infrastructure, and other critical communication devices.
  • Systematically monitor response times, bandwidth utilization, and resource availability to propose and implement performance enhancements. Utilize specialized surveying tools to optimize coverage and capacity within high-density environments.
  • Design and administer the IP address scheme and associated IP address assignment mechanisms.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain robust enterprise wireless networks, including the execution of site surveys and comprehensive RF planning.
  • Configure and troubleshoot wireless access points (APs) and wireless LAN controllers (WLCs).
  • Ensure the integrity and security of the wireless network through the implementation of WPA2/3 protocols, and RADIUS integration. Proven hands-on experience implementing Network Access Control (NAC) solutions.
  • Resolve complex and atypical network problems, employing advanced packet capture and protocol analysis tools such as Wireshark.
  • Monitor and coordinate the maintenance of network hardware and software to ensure maximum operational efficiency and uptime.
  • Maintain up-to-date, meticulously detailed network topological diagrams and documentation for the entire CHA network and all business partner connections.



Technical Requirements & Qualifications


Education, and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field is required; equivalent significant professional experience (e.g., a minimum of 6 years total experience) may be substituted.
  • A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in network engineering within an enterprise environment is mandatory, with at least 5 years served in a Senior Network Engineering role.
  • Experience within a large, distributed, and complex healthcare organization is highly desirable.


Technical Knowledge

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with Juniper, Aruba.
  • Advanced and comprehensive knowledge of OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, RIP, RIPv2, TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP, EVPN-VXLAN and 802.1x standards.

  • Utilizes Productivity Improvement Plan process to identify areas for improvement and assists Maintenance Manager in development of a measurement system.
  • May review inbound and outbound S&OP reports and assists in department planning; makes adjustments based on distribution center needs.
  • Plans daily production goals for department.
  • Identifies obstacles to performance through floor observations.
  • Reviews daily staffing plan of department/shift with Maintenance Manager; determines proper staffing level for shift or area of responsibility based on receiving/shipping volume and departmental projects.
  • Establishes work schedules based on preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Conducts required sortation audits and analyzes results to determine appropriate system and/or personnel adjustments.
  • Ensures that adequate training is provided for all maintenance department employees.
  • In coordination with safety committee, supports safety programs to reduce employee injuries.
  • Partners with Maintenance Manager and Human Resources to ensure OSHA compliance; serves a back-up contact person for governmental agencies.
  • Maintains status reports on building and facility insurance documentation.
  • Assists Maintenance Manager with department budget.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
  • Ability to learn and perform IBM cash register functions, including those necessary to generate reports.
  • Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
  • Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies and practices (deposits, store keys, SAFE and STARS programs, etc.)

  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer skills: Word, Excel, autocad systems, and programmable logic controllers.

WORKING CONDITIONS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • On call twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week to support distribution center operations.
  • Maintenance experience required.
  • Experience in an automated retail distribution center preferred.
  • Two years minimum supervisory experience.
  • Automated retail distribution center experience preferred.
  • Vocational skills training as a tradesperson (mechanical, electrical, welding, hydraulic, pneumatics).

The Opportunity

The Investment Manager - Provisions will partner closely with senior leadership to manage day-to-day operations across our investment tax portfolio, spanning provision, compliance, and deferred tax processes for life insurance investment assets including securities, bonds, partnerships, derivatives, and real estate. The Investment Tax Manager will have the opportunity to develop leadership capabilities and drive meaningful process improvements. The role requires strong tax technical skills combined with operational excellence and the ability to execute in a fast-paced, complex environment.

The Team

As an Investment Tax Manager - Provisions, you will be a member of the Investment Tax team within the Corporate Tax Department, part of our Controllers Organization. The Corporate Tax Department is comprised of high-performing, collaborative, and agile tax professionals who are motivated by challenging work that delivers sustained value and a culture of accountability.

The Impact

  • Drive day-to-day execution of tax provision (ASC 740), compliance, and deferred tax reconciliation processes across all investment asset classes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of deliverables
  • Provide technical tax guidance to team members on investment taxation matters, researching and resolving moderately complex technical issues independently
  • Identify and resolve data integrity issues within investment accounting systems; develop and execute proactive error detection processes to improve accuracy of tax results
  • Coordinate workflow and priorities across technical tax staff covering fixed income, partnerships, derivatives, and real estate portfolios
  • Support ad hoc investment transaction analysis and tax planning, coordinating with tax planning, legal, investment management, and external partners
  • Partner with external auditors during tax provision and compliance reviews, addressing technical inquiries and supporting documentation requests
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and lead initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce risk, and enhance controls
  • Mentor and develop tax professionals, providing coaching and fostering professional growth across the team
  • Represent the investment tax function in cross-functional meetings and build strong relationships across finance, investments, and operations

The Minimum Qualifications

  • CPA certification
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • 7+ years of tax experience from public accounting or financial services
  • 5+ years of Income tax (ASC740) provision experience

The Ideal Qualifications

  • 10+ years of tax experience with demonstrated career progression
  • Big 4 tax advisory background with exposure to complex technical projects
  • Insurance or asset management industry experience; familiarity with life insurance company taxation
  • Working knowledge of investment taxation across multiple asset classes (fixed income, partnerships, derivatives, real estate)
  • Strong understanding of corporate tax provision (ASC740) and tax compliance processes
  • Hands-on experience with tax technology platforms, ERP systems, or system implementation projects
  • Prior involvement in large-scale transformation initiatives or process improvement programs
  • Experience managing, mentoring, or leading tax professionals (formal or informal)
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to identify data issues and develop solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines
  • Project management experience or certification
  • Track record of building effective stakeholder relationships across matrixed organizations
  • Experience with deferred tax accounting and reconciliations
  • Experience interfacing with external auditors and managing audit processes
