In this role, you’ll be a strategic and hands-on leader who will drive the transformation of quality across our technology organization. This leader will be responsible for building and scaling a modern Quality Engineering function that goes beyond traditional QA, with ownership spanning QA environments, test automation, AI-enabled quality practices, quality governance, best practices, and the establishment of a Quality Engineering Center of Excellence (COE).
The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of leadership, technical depth, operating model design, and change management, with the ability to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle. This role will partner closely with Engineering, Product, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, and Delivery teams to create a scalable, efficient, and forward-looking quality strategy that supports speed, reliability, and business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Engineering Strategy & Leadership
- Define and lead the enterprise Quality Engineering vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned to Valvoline’s broader technology and business priorities.
- Shift the organization from traditional testing approaches to a modern quality engineering model focused on prevention, automation, continuous validation, and measurable quality outcomes.
- Establish quality as a shared responsibility across product, engineering, and delivery teams while maintaining strong governance and standards.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of quality engineers, automation engineers, and QA leaders.
QA Center of Excellence (COE)
- Build and operationalize a Quality Engineering Center of Excellence (COE) to define frameworks, standards, tooling, reusable assets, and governance processes.
- Create enterprise-wide best practices for test design, automation, environment strategy, defect management, release readiness, and quality metrics.
- Standardize quality processes across portfolios while allowing for flexibility based on product and platform needs.

Automation & Tooling
- Define and execute an enterprise test automation strategy across UI, API, integration, data, regression, performance, and end-to-end testing.
- Drive adoption of scalable automation frameworks and ensure integration with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Evaluate, select, and optimize quality tools and platforms to improve speed, coverage, traceability, and reporting.
- Increase automation efficiency and effectiveness by implementing reusable components, common libraries, and engineering best practices.
AI-Enabled Quality Engineering
- Lead the adoption of AI and intelligent automation within quality engineering, including opportunities such as:
test case generation
intelligent defect triage
predictive risk analysis
self-healing automation
release quality insights
test optimization and prioritization
- Assess emerging AI capabilities and define practical use cases that improve quality outcomes, team productivity, and speed to market.
- Partner with engineering and architecture leaders to ensure AI solutions are implemented responsibly, securely, and at scale.
QA Environments & Test Data Management
- Own the strategy for QA environments, including environment planning, availability, stability, governance, and optimization.
- Partner with infrastructure and platform teams to improve environment readiness, reduce bottlenecks, and support parallel delivery.
- Establish strong processes for test data management, environment provisioning, and integration dependency coordination.
- Drive improvements in environment monitoring and readiness reporting to reduce delays and improve release confidence.
Governance, Metrics & Best Practices
- Define and implement quality KPIs, SLAs, dashboards, and scorecards to provide visibility into quality performance, automation maturity, defect trends, release risk, and environment health.
- Set standards for quality gates, entry/exit criteria, defect leakage reduction, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
- Build a culture of measurable quality and operational discipline through governance routines, audits, and executive reporting.
- Ensure best practices are embedded into agile delivery, DevSecOps, and release management processes.
Sourcing & Vendor Management
- Define the sourcing strategy for quality engineering capabilities, including the right balance of internal talent, strategic partners, and offshore/onshore vendor models.
- Lead vendor evaluation, selection, governance, and performance management related to quality engineering and testing services.
- Optimize spend, capability, and service quality across external partners while ensuring alignment to Valvoline standards and delivery expectations.
- Build workforce strategies that support both immediate delivery needs and long-term capability development.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, Architecture, and PMO leaders to embed quality into planning, design, development, and release processes.
- Influence senior stakeholders on quality investments, transformation priorities, and operating model improvements.
- Support mission-critical initiatives by ensuring strong quality planning, risk management, and execution.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Qualifications
- 10+ years in software quality engineering
- 5+ years leading enterprise QA teams
- Experience in high-volume retail, omnichannel, or consumer-facing environments strongly preferred

In this role you will lead a distributed team of Software Quality Engineers supporting mission-critical aerospace and defense programs. You will align SQE priorities with program needs across St. Louis, Huntington Beach, and Fairfax, partner with Business Unit leads to define workload and technical expectations, and drive improved SQE engagement and software quality practices across the organization.
Position Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and manage a team of Software Quality Engineers supporting multiple BDS programs; own hiring, performance development, and career progression.
- Translate program technical and contractual requirements into SQE priorities and deliverables; align SQE execution with program schedules and budgets.
- Define and implement SQE processes, checklists, and metrics to verify software compliance, reliability, and safety on assigned programs.

- Implement corrective actions (CAPA) based on root cause analysis.
- Prepare and maintain quality documentation, including inspection plans, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain personnel to implement product changes for current and next generation products. Maintain documents at various product stages ranging from the creation of part numbers to the release of products for manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, industry standards, and customer requirements.
- Review and maintain product manuals and labeling in coordination with Engineering, Sales, and Safety Agencies.
- Conduct training sessions for manufacturing personnel on quality standards, processes, and best practices.
- Act as the customer interface on quality-related issues, providing timely resolutions and maintaining strong relationships.
- Gather customer feedback to drive product improvement and quality improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5+ years of experience in quality engineering or a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
- Certification as an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor or similar quality management certification is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of general manufacturing, quality control, and lean principles.
- Skilled in MS Word and Excel.
- Experience with SAP preferred.
- Must be detail oriented and organized in reviewing information, identifying issues, evaluating options and proposing solutions.
- Clear and organized written and verbal communication.
Ensure control of supplier nonconforming items, conducts analyses and monitor effectiveness of corrective actions.
Translates engineering, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
Collaborates with internal engineering and manufacturing functions and external suppliers to ensure quality standards are in place.
Monitors quality control activities and systems at supplier and subcontractor facilities and maintains feedback loops.
Perform source surveillance & validation at source inspections, audit third party manufacturers, special process auditing as an approved corporate surveyor including their Sub-Tier suppliers/Sub-contractors, due diligence, and vendor selection process.
Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
Prepares, maintains, and reviews procurement quality assurance procedures to assure compliance with customer and/or government requirements.
May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.
To review and update regularly and ensure all active Suppliers Sub-contractors' approvals are within their expiry dates, or obtain new updated approval certificates.
Review and approve or reject New Capability Requests for new Suppliers Subcontractors, check and challenge their accreditation certification.
Basic Required Qualifications: 1) STEM degree at bachelor's level or higher in one of the following disciplines: Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, OR equivalent experience/combined education.
2) Quality engineering experience in developing and reviewing quality requirements, standards, procedures, methods, work instructions, and control plans.
3) Experience performing Design/Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (D/PFMEA).
4) Demonstrated understanding of procedure compliance assessment, process audit, and product audit techniques.
5) Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and industry standards.
6) Understanding of inspection methods for electronic circuit cards and electro-mechanical assemblies.
7) Experience with control and disposition of non-conforming product (Material Review Board).
8) Experience leading cross-functional teams for root cause investigation, corrective action, and preventive action using tools like 8D, 5-Why, Fault Tree, PFD, FMEA, Standard Work, Control Plans, etc… and ability to collaboratively solve problems for improving design process, manufacturing process, and business process.
9) Demonstrated understanding of AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
10) Experience with performing First Article Inspections to AS9102 requirements.
11) Experience with supplier quality assurance/control.
12) Experience working with US Government Department of Defense customers.
13) Strong project management skills, with demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
14) Effective inclusive interpersonal skills, including team building, risk identification, collaboration, problem solving, and presentations in hybrid working environments (remote and in office).
15) Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Subcontracting, Program Management, Finance, suppliers, customers, and all other stakeholders.

The Sr. Engineer, Quality Operations is responsible for understanding quality requirements, developing and improving processes to meet those requirements, driving internal efforts for root cause analysis and corrective actions, while providing day to day support of processes to meet our high standards of precision and quality in producing medical devices.
Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties
In this role you will be responsible for developing and maintaining quality engineering methodologies and providing quality engineering support to production.
- Identify and implement effective process control systems to support the development, qualification, and on-going manufacturing of products to meet or exceed internal and external requirements
- Lead in the implementation of assurances, process controls, and CAPA systems designed to meet or exceed internal and external requirements
- Apply sound, systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, prioritizing, communicating, and resolving critical quality issues
- Lead process control and monitoring of CTQ parameters and specifications
- Lead and implement various product and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing)
- Lead the investigation, resolution and prevention of product and process non-conformances and related CAPAs
- Lead in the completion and maintenance of risk analysis
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science, or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 5-6 years of Quality Management Systems (QMS) experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications and statistical software are required.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance methods, such as process validation, design of experiments, statistical process control (SPC) and protocol/report preparation.
