Minimum Qualification:
Associate degree in nursing required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide patient care in outpatient settings and are responsible for delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. They coordinate care provided by other clinical staff, support patient and family education, and ensure communication across healthcare teams. They are accountable for clinical standards and may operate with minimal supervision.

General Requirements:

- Administers medications and treatments safely via multiple routes (oral, IM, SC, ID, IV, inhalation, topical, ocular, optic, sublingual, nasal) and documents accordingly.
- Performs nursing care, lab and diagnostic tests, specimen collection, phlebotomy, and limited radiology procedures following policies and universal precautions.
- Assists providers with patient care, phone/mail/fax communications, scheduling, consents, admissions, referrals, and outpatient procedures.
- Communicates and collaborates with physicians, staff, patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding care plans and patient needs.
- Educates patients, families, and clinical staff on treatments, medications, test preparation, discharge, and health maintenance; documents education and evaluates understanding.
- Participates in staff meetings, committees, quality improvement, risk management, and performance improvement projects.
- Maintains documentation accuracy and completeness in EMR: assessments, vitals, symptoms, treatments, medications, education, charges, lab results, histories, and consults.
- Maintains and monitors supplies, equipment, medication stock, and office machines; follows maintenance and quality control protocols; reports malfunctions.
- Recognizes and responds appropriately to urgent/emergency patient needs and initiates emergency procedures.
- Other duties as needed and assigned by the manager.
- Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
Education:

POSITION PURPOSE:
Provides and directs safe, effective, and culturally competent care for women, newborns, and pediatric patients. Utilizes evidence-based practice and critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. Manages a diverse patient population across labor and delivery, postpartum, newborn nursery, pediatrics, and/or pediatric intensive care, with varying levels of acuity. Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Technicians/Assistants, and other team members, while ensuring clear communication with physicians, families, and the interdisciplinary team. • Assigns and coordinates patient care based on acuity and team member competencies.
• Organizes and prioritizes care for mothers, newborns, and pediatric patients.
• Delegates tasks appropriately to other team members.
• Implements the plan of care including procedures, treatments, physician orders, nursing orders, education plans, and medications.
• Coordinates implementation with Case Manager, Social Worker, and other disciplines.
• Assists in discharge planning, ensuring families have resources for newborn care, breastfeeding support, and pediatric follow-up.

Works collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure patient needs are met and care delivery is coordinated across the continuum, as well as appropriately reimbursed by payers, and that resources are efficiently and effectively utilized
- Serves as a liaison between the hospital and community agencies or facilities for the exchange of clinical and referral information

As a Registered Nurse at MercyOne, you will provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally-competent patient care for mothers, infants, normal labor and delivery patients and high-risk neonates who have actual or potential life-threatening health problems. Key accountabilities include:
Complex assessments
Diagnosis
Outcomes identification
Planning, implementation, and evaluation of care using critical thinking and evidence-based practice
Adherence to Professional Practice Standards as defined by ANA
Active participation in quality monitoring and performance improvement activities
This position requires testing for color blindness to perform Nitrazine testing
Schedule:
12-hour shifts
Day shift: 5:00 am – 5:00 pm, Night shift: 5:00 pm – 5:00 am
Every third weekend
Rotating weekends and holidays
PRN status – minimum requirement of 24 hours per month
General Requirements:
Registered Nurse in Illinois, Registered Nurse in Iowa within 1 year
Education:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing

Through evidence-based practice, utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care. The Acute Care RN manages a diverse patient population with varying levels of acuity, including post-operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients. Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members. Facilitates communication with physicians, patients and families, and interdisciplinary team members. Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and upholds the Mission, Vision, and Values of MercyOne.
Essential Functions:
Conducts assessment
Identifies patient problems and develops plan of care
Implements outcome/goal - based plan of care
Evaluates patient progress and revises the outcome/goal - based plan as needed
Communicates relevant clinical information to the team to optimize patient outcomes/goals
Demonstrates clinical competence
Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable
Provides care appropriate to the age-related needs of the patients served on his/her assigned unit
Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures
Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.
Schedule:
Night Shift, .9 FTE (36 hours per week)
RNs work 12-hour shifts
Day shift: 7:00 am – 7:30 pm, Night shift: 7:00 pm – 7:30 am
Rotating weekends/holidays
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree in nursing required
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Registered Nurse in Illinois, Registered Nurse in Iowa within 1 year
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required
American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required only if the unit has telemetry monitoring capabilities
Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire
