Job Summary: Under general supervision sets up, adjusts, and operates Sticky Note cutter equipment and packs the product for shipment or storage.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Sets up machine and operates it according to Work Instructions and operator manual. Identifies when mechanical problems occur.
  • Performs operator-level maintenance duties on all equipment (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) and maintains documentation of maintenance.
  • Lifts up to 45-pound boxes frequently. Team lift at higher weights.
  • Accurately reports and records daily production and scrap.
  • Achieves make-ready and run times.
  • Communicates to Supervisor and/or MFG Facilitator to address any work area concerns.

The ideal candidate has 1+ years of experience and would describe themselves as a team player that is organized, efficient and passionate about designing the next season of stunning apparel. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their design career who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to creating beautiful apparel collections. This role will support the design team in developing seasonal collections by assisting with research, sketching, tech pack preparation, and sample management. The Junior Level Designer will help ensure that all designs align with the Mary Square brand aesthetic and meet seasonal development timelines. This is a highly collaborative role that is primarily on-site due to the hands-on nature of working with samples, prototypes, strike-offs, fittings, and product development meetings.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the design team with trend and market research based on guidance from the Apparel Director.
  • Support fabric, trim, and print research by gathering references and materials for development.
  • Create and update sketches and CADs in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Assist with preparing Tech Packs for costing and sampling.
  • Help maintain and update the Visual Line Plan with revised CADs and product information.
  • Receive prototypes and assist with measuring garments and preparing samples for fittings.
  • Take notes during fittings and help track revisions and updates.
  • Support communication of design changes and updates with internal teams.
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining the design team’s WIP and project files.
  • Attend design meetings and line reviews and assist with updating design documents and line plans.
  • Support the creation and organization of production Tech Packs and BOM details.
  • Assist with print, embroidery, and color development as directed by the design leadership team.
  • Help review lab dips, strike-offs, and fabric submissions with guidance from the design team.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical files for seasonal development.
  • Assist with organizing inspiration, trend references, and research materials for upcoming seasons.
  • Support cross-functional teams with any product-related needs for marketing, sales, or merchandising.


What we’d like to see in you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (technical flats and CADs required).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
  • Familiarity with 3D design software is a plus but not required.
  • Basic understanding of garment construction, fabric, and trims. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to support a fast-paced design team.
  • A strong eye for color, prints, fabric, and trims.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • A passion for apparel design and a desire to learn and grow within the industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-moving environment.

Position Overview

Mary Square is looking for a detail-oriented Technical Design Intern to join our rapidly growing team. The ideal candidate would describe themselves as a team player that is organized, efficient and passionate about technical design. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their design career who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to creating beautiful apparel collections. The Technical Design Intern supports the technical design team in ensuring garments meet Mary Square’s fit, construction, and quality standards. This role will assist with measuring samples, preparing tech packs, organizing fit sessions, and maintaining technical documentation throughout the product development process.

This is a hands-on learning opportunity for someone interested in the technical side of apparel development, providing exposure to fit sessions, garment construction, and factory communication from concept through production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the technical design team in preparing and updating technical specification (tech) packs.
  • Support measuring samples and prototypes and help record measurements for fittings.
  • Assist in preparing garments and documentation for fit sessions.
  • Take notes during fittings and help update tech packs with fit comments and revisions.
  • Help update "How to Measure" diagrams and construction details.
  • Support organization and tracking of samples and development stages.
  • Assist with maintaining spec sheets, measurement charts, and grading information.
  • Work closely with the design and product development teams to ensure technical updates are documented accurately.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical technical files for seasonal development.
  • Support cross-functional communication with design, sourcing, and product development teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or current enrollment in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, Technical Design, or a related field.
  • Coursework or experience in patternmaking, garment construction, or sewing.
  • Basic understanding of garment fit, construction, and measurement techniques.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • A passion for apparel product development and technical design.
