Internship Opportunity - Adult Day Center
Job Description
Insight Memory Care Center (IMCC) is looking for students who would like to make an impact in the lives of older adults who have memory impairments such as Dementia or Alzheimer's.
We are seeking motivated and compassionate students who are interested in gaining hands-on experience in health services, social work, gerontology, recreation therapy, or related fields. This internship is designed as a learning and educational experience, offering exposure to professional practices while supporting the day-to-day operations of IMCC.
Interns will work under close supervision and receive guidance, feedback, and mentorship throughout their experience.

- Assisting with daily activities, games, and group programs
- Supporting staff with event planning and participant engagement
- Helping create activity materials and program schedules
- Observing care delivery and center operations
- Providing companionship and social interaction to participants
- Completing administrative or documentation tasks as assigned
- Participating in meetings, trainings, and supervision sessions
- Real-world experience in an Adult Day Center setting
- Exposure to aging services and person-centered care
- Professional communication and teamwork skills
- An understanding of program operations and service delivery
- Supervision and mentoring from experienced professionals
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a related program (preferred)
- Interest in working with older adults and/or individuals with memory impairments
- Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor
- Reliable and able to follow center policies
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- This internship is unpaid
- Academic credit may be available with approval from your educational institution
- This internship does not guarantee future employment
Insight Memory Care Center is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit whose mission is to provide specialized care, support and education for individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other memory impairments, their families, caregivers, and the community through our adult day health and resource center. Serving Northern Virginia since 1984, IMCC offers a spectrum of holistic care, education and support, with a vision of a community where those affected by memory impairments can achieve the highest quality of life. IMCC also provides a safe and therapeutic environment for people in all stages of dementia. A vital part of IMCC is providing a well-rounded therapeutic recreation program that meets the physical, cognitive and social needs of each participant.
