Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role as our Production/Manufacturing Manager based in San Jose, CA. This is a high-impact role, reporting directly to the company's owner. A successful Manufacturing Operations Manager will play a key role in shaping our business for years to come. We are seeking a no-nonsense, responsible operational leader with the mission to improve and ensure the on-time delivery of quality product to our customers. A strong candidate will both be an empathetic team leader as well as data-oriented professional with a desire to make a significant impact on our business.

This professional will:

• Lead our production and support teams. Develop and provide continual support for a strong, healthy problem-solving and high-performing work and team culture.

o Coach and support teams in clear, logical problem-solving approaches.

o Manage production staffing levels, compensation, and staff standards of performance and conduct

o Design and maintain an effective shop floor supervisory structure

o Identify, enable, direct and maintain production and support staff training requirements and records.

• Own the design and continued development, implementation, and sustainment of operational data systems (software, etc.) that spans and integrates ERP, PDM, MES, quality and equipment data for rapid, accurate monitoring of shop floor status and support for on-time order delivery and gross-margin level profitability.

o Analyze overall shop floor process flow and develop optimization paths, and define the data required to maintain and improve the production system.

o Review historic trend data and projected requirements to identify risks and opportunities for improvement of product on-time delivery

o Select, develop, implement, and coordinate strategic projects related to on-time delivery

o Lead continuous improvement efforts based on data collection

• Manage product design and process design personnel to bring prototype mechanical assembly designs from design stage to production-ready and profitable state

• Determine and oversee maintenance and sustainment requirements for building facilities and production equipment

• Provide high-level customer and vendor management & oversight

• Possess fabrication-relevant process knowledge in sheet metal, paint, and CNC machining – desirable but not absolutely required. Interest in rapidly acquiring relevant process knowledge is required.

Role holds ultimate responsibility for: all production and production support staff

Direct reports: Process department supervisors, manufacturing engineer, programming engineer (laser, turret, CNC bend, CNC mill), QC manager

Reports to: Business owner/president. Business owner is highly engaged in the business, data-oriented, and committed to driving growth.
