About the Role

The Advanced Manufacturing Manager will lead the Advanced Manufacturing team to drive the development and integration of factory automation, manufacturing tooling and new technology to deliver results to achieve strategic goals to support manufacturing growth. This role will oversee the technical aspects of large-scale projects while leading a team of advanced manufacturing, controls, robotics and tooling engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing advanced manufacturing team fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
  • Develop automation strategies that align with business long range strategic planning.
  • Lead the design and execution of advanced manufacturing strategies to sustainably enhance productivity, reduce cost, and improve consistency of product quality leveraging leading edge industry 4.0 technology
  • Participate in the assessment of integrator/supplier technical and commercial capabilities.
  • Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, and engineering to identify and address systemic causes, implementing lasting solutions in processes and tools to prevent the recurrence of development issues.
  • Maintain documentation, SOPs, and best practices for advanced process development, tool development, and knowledge transfer to manufacturing.
  • Develop preferred methods/manufacturing systems in conjunction with manufacturing stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing plants and functions to align business objectives
  • Own manufacturing technical readiness as a critical member of advanced manufacturing, with specific emphasis on manufacturing producibility, cost effectiveness, process repeatability; negotiate conflicting requirements, identify lessons-learned and DFM/DFA/DFSS opportunities and share/escalate to upstream product design engineers, supply chain and downstream manufacturing engineers.
  • Manage the release of new equipment/process into manufacturing; drive manufacturing readiness; secure production at scale capacity, throughput, yield, and process capability before release to sustaining teams in the factory.
  • Lead projects and technical teams from concept through deployment, ensuring performance requirements, timely delivery and ROI.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, industrial) or similar discipline required
  • Minimum 10 years of applied professional experience leading and facilitating engineering initiatives in a manufacturing environment required, advanced manufacturing experience preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of people management experience
  • Demonstrated business acumen with an ability to understand and identify improvement opportunities that will provide financial benefit to the business
  • Experience designing and deploying various automation and Industry 4.0 technologies
  • Robotics experience, Fanuc preferred
  • Plastic welding experience preferred
  • A strong understanding of digital technologies, data analysis skills, agility and adaptability, a collaborative and team-oriented approach, fostering innovation.
  • Strong communication skills, the ability to empower employees, and a focus on continuous learning/mentoring to navigate the rapidly changing landscape

Job Summary:


The Manufacturing Engineer is a skilled and detail-oriented engineer with expertise in multi-axis CNC machining, geometric tolerancing, and material properties.   • Create comprehensive factory production plans, including step-by-step operation sheets, detailed work instructions, manufacturing prints, outsource prints, flat patterns, and other documents as needed.
  • Develop bills of materials (BOM) for all components and materials required for production.
  • Create and review traveler packages and customer drawings for completeness and manufacturability.
  • Design and implement necessary fixturing to support production processes
  • Provide on-demand support to production teams in resolving manufacturing challenges as they arise.
  • Monitor manufacturing progress and ensure alignment with established plans.
  • Serve as a key liaison with production and programming teams to address design or production-related issues.
  • Independently design, develop, and fabricate fixtures and production aids as needed.

  • Correctly completes daily production sheets, process condition sheets, waste logs, final release forms, ink paperwork and quality inspection logs. Ensure job order information (size, construction, print position, packing instructions, adhesive structures, proper substrates being used) corresponds with the product being manufactured.
  • Safely, efficiently and effectively assists with the assigned production machinery equipment monitoring quality, production and waste adhering to all customer specifications.
  • Ensures immediate work area and work areas for which Machine Operator has responsibility are free of clutter and debris. Perform all cleaning/sanitation responsibilities, safely using all required cleaning solutions and protective equipment.
  • Removes rolls from rewind, hangs rolls on rewind, makes up doctor blades, preps print carriages, brings correct inks and lacquers to the press, configures ink ratios, disposes of ink, solvents and lacquers, maintains ink viscosities and cuts cores.
  • Ability to operate the viscosity control system.
  • Ensures all required on-line quality data is properly documented.

Position Summary

The Manufacturing Associate will support Cell Therapy Operations at our GMP-compliant facility, playing a critical role in the production of cutting-edge cell therapies. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong aseptic technique and a proven ability to quickly master complex processes in a cleanroom environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and thrive in a collaborative, quality-driven setting. This role requires precision, adaptability, and a strong quality mindset to ensure the consistent delivery of high-standard therapeutic products.


Key Responsibilities

โ€ข Perform aseptic manufacturing operations within a classified cleanroom environment, ensuring compliance with all cGMP and safety standards.

โ€ข Execute complex procedures for cell therapy manufacturing and sterile product operationsโ€”including cell culture, formulation, and cryopreservationโ€”while maintaining strict adherence to written procedures, batch records, and cGMP regulations.

โ€ข Operate and maintain specialized manufacturing equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.

โ€ข Monitor and document all production processes with precision, ensuring traceability and compliance with regulatory standards.

โ€ข Identify and escalate deviations or non-conformances; participate in root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.

โ€ข Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, Process Development, and Engineering teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.

โ€ข Perform routine cleanroom maintenance, including environmental monitoring, cleaning, and sterilization activities.

โ€ข Maintain an organized, compliant workspace by following 5S principles and minimizing contamination risks.

โ€ข Participate in training sessions to stay current with manufacturing techniques, quality standards, and safety protocols.

โ€ข Support process development activities during technology transfer.

โ€ข Aseptically gown and work in ISO 8, 7, and 5 cleanroom environments and stand for extended periods.

โ€ข Assist in creating and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Master Batch Records (MBRs).

โ€ข Review MBRs daily to ensure documentation is accurate and complete.

โ€ข Participate in audits, inspections, qualifications, and validation activities.

โ€ข Handle chemicals such as corrosives, solvents, and biohazardous materials safely.

โ€ข Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

โ€ข 1โ€“3 years of experience in GMP manufacturing, preferably in cell therapy, biologics, or pharmaceutical CDMO operations.

โ€ข Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques and cleanroom protocols.

โ€ข Proficiency in basic mathematical concepts, including scientific notation.

โ€ข Proven ability to learn and master complex processes quickly.

โ€ข Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality standards.

โ€ข Excellent collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills.

โ€ข Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities.


Preferred Qualifications

โ€ข Experience in aseptic cell culture processing in ISO 5 biosafety cabinets, using universal precautions for handling human-derived materials.

โ€ข Familiarity with cell therapy automation technologies, closed system culture vessels, cell washers, and cell separation technologies for autologous or allogeneic product manipulation.

โ€ข Experience handling, propagating, isolating, activating, and cryopreserving human primary cells, including T cells.

โ€ข Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, electronic batch record systems).


Physical Requirements

โ€ข Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks in a cleanroom environment.

โ€ข Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. and work in full cleanroom gowning and PPE for extended durations.

โ€ข Ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other applicable standards, including meeting productivity expectations.

โ€ข Willingness to bend, stoop, carry, reach, climb, or stand on elevated benches or step stools.
