Sr. Architect to Director of Architecture

Overview

We are seeking a hands on licensed Sr. Architect who can move into a Director of Architecture to lead a hands on, fast paced design build architectural team. This is a true working leader role for someone who is a project architect at heart and understands how buildings actually come together in the field.

This position sits at the intersection of architecture and construction and requires someone who can confidently review drawings, collaborate with construction leadership, and mentor a growing internal team. Projects move quickly, with construction documents typically completed within 6 to 12 weeks and construction following shortly after.

The ideal candidate thrives in an ownership driven environment, enjoys collaboration with construction professionals, and is comfortable wearing multiple hats.

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to executive leadership and works closely with internal Project Managers and Project Executives on the construction side.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the architectural lead on all design build projects

• Review architectural and construction documents prior to issuance, ensuring accuracy, coordination, and constructability

• Act as the final quality control checkpoint on all drawings before release

• Partner closely with construction PMs and PXs to align design intent with sequencing and field execution

• Ensure compliance with building codes, ADA requirements, and permitting regulations

• Support projects from design development through construction administration

• Mentor and manage a team of 4 to 5 architectural staff

• Provide hands on coaching and leadership to elevate team performance

• Participate in client meetings as needed, primarily virtual

• Support infrastructure related scopes when required

Ideal Background

• Licensed Architect, license does not need to be from California

• BS in Architecture highly preferred

Licensure

Architectural license required. California license preferred but not mandatory. Must have strong knowledge of building codes, ADA, and permitting processes.

K-12 Practice Leader (Architecture)- FTE, Permanent Role

Salary Range : up to $180k + Benefits

This is a senior leadership role for an architect passionate about designing innovative learning environments and leading education-focused projects from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in K-12 school design, strong client relationship skills, and the ability to lead projects that positively impact communities and educational environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and collaborate on K-12 education projects from concept through construction documentation
• Develop and advance design concepts across all phases of design
• Produce and oversee design presentations, documentation, and construction drawings
• Maintain strong client relationships and communication throughout project lifecycles
• Partner with internal teams across multiple offices to deliver high-quality architectural solutions
• Contribute to the creation of innovative learning environments that support educators and students
• Manage multiple project priorities in a fast-paced design environment

Qualifications

• 15+ years of architectural experience, with significant focus on K-12 or education facility design
• Professional degree in Architecture, Design, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Strong knowledge of the architectural design process
• Demonstrated experience delivering projects from concept through construction documents
• Ability to work independently and solve complex design challenges
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills
• Experience working in team-oriented, multidisciplinary environments

Proficiency in:

• Autodesk Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office / Office 365

Preferred experience with:

• SketchUp/ Newforma Project Center

We’re looking for a Territory Manager – Architectural & Builder Specification in the residential construction industry, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, with up to 50 percent travel across the Eastern U.S.

Our client designs and manufactures premium outdoor architectural products specified into luxury residential builds, renovations and outdoor living environments. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who knows how to influence projects early, work plans and specifications, and build a territory from the ground up. Success in this role comes from strong builder and design relationships, disciplined territory development, and the ability to convert long?cycle projects into revenue.

Territory Manager – Architectural & Builder Specification responsibilities:

• Build and grow a multi?state, specification?led territory

• Drive plan and design inclusion with architects, designers and builders

• Develop relationships with custom home builders, remodelers and outdoor living specialists

• Recruit and support pergola and specialty dealer partners

• Generate pipeline through site visits, presentations and industry events

• Manage long?cycle residential projects from specification through close

The successful candidate has:

• 5–10 years of specification?led sales experience in building products

• Direct experience selling into residential construction or architectural channels

• Proven territory?build and hunter mindset

• Strong comfort working drawings, plans and job sites

• Ability to operate independently across a large, multi?state region

• Confidence selling premium, installed architectural products

Compensation and benefits:

• Salary range of $90,000 – $110,000 depending on experience
