A Hearing Aid Specialist performs technical and administrative duties under an audiologist's supervision, such as administering hearing tests, maintaining equipment, fitting and repairing hearing aids, and providing patient education. Key responsibilities include patient screening, equipment calibration, managing patient records, and assisting with hearing aid fittings, counseling, and basic repairs.

Qualifications

• A valid Massachsetts Hearing Aid Specialist license.

• Experience as an audiology technician.

• Knowledge of current hearing aid technology.

• Completes documentation per procedure including personal inventories on admission.
• Follows the hospice care plan as developed by the IDT.
• Remains in assigned work area unless directed otherwise by the nurse.
• Gives report to oncoming Hospice Aide including changes in patient condition.
• Assists with distribution of dietary trays to patients and returns trays to kitchen when patient is finished.
• Follows Alive Hospice policies and procedures and maintains current standards of practice.
• Involves volunteers in patient care as appropriate and works to enhance the volunteer's experience.
• Follows Infection Control procedures when providing personal care.
• Passes the Hospice Aide Competency test on an annual basis.
• Orient new Hospice Aide as requested.
• Other duties may also be assigned.

General hours of work include 12 hour shifts from 3PM-3AM, every 3rd weekend, every 3rd holiday (rotating weekends), every other holiday.

What You’ll Do

• Administer medications, as prescribed, and under the direction of a licensed nurse
• Promptly report to the nurse, a resident’s request/need for PRN medications.
• Promptly report to the nurse any adverse or concerning reactions to medications.
• Provide exceptional Personal service and daily care to residents.
• Communicate effectively with residents, staff management and families.
• Knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures.
• Provides physical resident care to include all aspects of personal hygiene and grooming.
• Answers call lights in a timely manner and responds accordingly to the resident’s needs.
• Assists in maintaining acceptable nutrition for residents and documents meal intake, as prescribed.
• Knows proper technique for first aide.
• Completes documentation of medication administration.
• Assists in maintaining a therapeutic environment for the residents.
• Motivates and encourages resident involvement in the participation in activities.
• Assists residents to and from activities.
• Lifting, turning, and re-positioning residents as needed.

The Medication Assistant (MA) serves as caregiver who provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the supervision of a charge nurse. Knowledge of and delivers age-appropriate care related to the physical and psychological needs of the resident as per plan of care. Provides assistance with basic health care needs including daily living activities that may include, but are not limited to, bathing, toileting, grooming, dressing/undressing, obtaining and recording vital signs, and providing psycho-social support and other personal care to assigned resident. May assist the resident in transferring, re-positioning, and walking using correct and appropriate transfer techniques and equipment and provides range of motion and passive exercises. Administers prescribed medications as delegated by a licensed nurse and within their scope of practice as defined by state regulations. Documents the outcomes related to resident care, medication administration, behavior, activity, and dietary. Communicates changing condition, medication follow-up and care related concerns/responses to the charge nurse. Collects non-invasive body fluid specimens and gathers vital signs. Provides housekeeping and laundry services to assist residents with keeping living areas clean and operational. Provides assistance and documentation with wellness and recreational programs and encourages residents to participate. May participate in departmental/organization committees and task forces as needed.

High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.

Minimum age of 18 preferred. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.

Satisfactorily completes yearly department specific competency testing and maintains a record of continuing education credits for each year. A minimum of 12 hours continuing education are required annually based on state requirements. Maintains all department specific required certifications. When applicable, may need a valid driver's license and auto insurance.

Iowa: Require Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing. CNA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing. Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course once CNA certification is obtained.

Minnesota: Must have nursing assistant certification, have completed the 75-hour course and be registered with the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry. Successful completion of a state-approved Trained Medication Assistant course.

North Dakota: Require Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with the State Board of Nursing. CNA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing. Successful completion of a state-approved Certified Medication Aide/Assistant course once CNA certification is obtained. If working in an Assisted Living or Basic Care facility, Medication Assistant I certification required. If working in a skilled nursing facility, Medication Assistant II certification is required.

South Dakota: Must successfully complete the state approved Certified Medication Aide (CMA) course. CMA certification must be maintained with the State Board of Nursing.

What Youll Do

As a Personal Care Attendant / Home Care Aide, youll provide hands-on support that promotes dignity, independence, and well-being for clients in their homes.
