UNC Hospitals Rehabilitation Services is accepting applications for a full-time Acute Care Physical Therapist II position. Supporting our Enhanced Rehabilitation program in the acute hospital setting, the PT II will provide comprehensive consultations and therapeutic interventions to a diverse patient population with varying acuity levels. The PT II will provide clinical supervision and mentorship to other staff and students, assist with facilitating clinical practice development activities, and may supervise support staff. Excellent time management and communication skills are required for this fast-paced environment; clinical experience in acute care is strongly preferred. Summary:
This is complex professional level work involving the evaluation of patient disabilities, planning, and administration of physical therapy treatments. Incumbents are responsible for a specialty area and may supervise support staff. - Discusses company and third party reimbursement policies and guidelines with the patient/family and discuss treatment plans with the Patient Care Coordinator, physician, and patient/family.
- Coordinates with Patient Care Coordinator in making referrals to appropriate disciplines.
- Provides in-service education, health care professional education, and public education in addition to supervising peers and supporting personnel and students in training as needed by the company.
- Conducts research and assists with orientation of new employees as needed.

Job Requirements:

- Minimum bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited school of physical therapy and current licensure from the state where therapy will be provided.
- Prefer a minimum of one year’s therapeutic experience in a non-home health care environment.
- Strong knowledge of theory and concepts relating to the practice of physical therapy and the ability to evaluate and treat patients for whom a physician’s order exists.
- Minimum of twelve hours of continuing education annually.
- Accept travel and working conditions as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

- Carry out treatment plans established by the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Assist residents with therapeutic exercises, gait training, and functional mobility activities.
- Monitor residents’ responses to therapy and promptly report changes to the Physical Therapist.
- Educate residents and families on exercises, techniques, and use of assistive devices.
- Document daily treatments, progress notes, and outcomes accurately and timely in accordance with regulatory and company standards.
- Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, nurses, and other team members to deliver coordinated care.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

- Current licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in the state of practice.
- Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation preferred.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- Compassion and commitment to improving residents’ quality of life.
