Job Summary

As a Cake Decorator, you are responsible for maintaining a full display of "Signature" ice cream cakes and fulfilling custom guest orders. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, a steady hand for piping, and the ability to work efficiently in a cold environment. While you are primarily "behind the scenes," you may occasionally assist at the front counter during peak hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Production & Assembly: Build ice cream cakes, cupcakes, and cookie sandwiches from scratch using Cold Stones proprietary recipes and templates.
• Customization: Execute custom orders including specific color matching, themed designs, and professional-grade lettering/writing using icing or gel.
• Tool Proficiency: Skillfully operate decorating equipment including airbrush guns, piping bags, floral nails, and rotating turntables.
• Inventory Management: Monitor display freezer levels to ensure a diverse variety of 12+ Signature cakes (e.g., Midnight Delight, Cake Batter Confetti) are always available.
• Quality & Sanitation: Maintain a "sparkling clean" cake station. Follow strict food safety and labeling protocols to ensure product freshness.
• Order Management: Professionally handle phone and in-person cake consultations, documenting specific guest requests accurately to ensure 100% satisfaction.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Artistic Flair: Ability to pipe clean borders, create buttercream flowers, and write legibly on frozen surfaces.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts and work comfortably in a refrigerated/freezer environment.

Performance of the essential functions of this position require the Associate to possess the minimum qualifications listed above. These functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Follow recipes to produce food products of specified flavor, texture, clarity, bouquet, or color.
• Follow and adhere to weights and measures guidelines established by Federal, State, Local, and Civic Standards.
• Set up, operate, and tend equipment that cooks, mixes, blends or processes ingredients in the production of food products, according to formulas or recipes.
• Rotate all merchandise in accordance with quality assurance standards to ensure freshness.
• Prepare special order requests, as required.
• Track movement of sales on production logs.
• Take a complete & accurate inventory of supplies weekly and re-order supplies and ingredients as needed.
• Check prices and be knowledgeable about location of items in the store.
• Promote for sale any current charitable promotions to Customers.
• Stand at work station for duration of scheduled shift, which may exceed 8 hours per day.
• Receive deliveries.
• Place reclamation in its proper location.
• Regularly lift, pull, push, and rotate merchandise that weights 25 lbs., and that occasionally weights up to 50 lbs.
• Unload trucks and transport merchandise to Bakery Department that weights 25 lbs., and that occasionally weights up to 50 lbs.
• Assist in other departments when instructed.
• Perform all duties in accordance with Company rules, policies, safety requirements, and security standards and all Local, State and Federal health and civil code regulations.
• Perform duties in accordance with the Company's HAZCOM program and adhere to manufacturer's label instructions for the safe and proper use of all chemical products.
• Follow approved procedures for receiving, code dating, preparing, storing, and price marking, arranging, and restocking products to ensure quality, accuracy, and product rotation and protection.
• Handle damaged and spoiled products according to Company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
• Understand and adhere to Company shrink guidelines as relates to Bakery department operations.
• Check refrigeration equipment for proper performance regularly; report any failure immediately.
• Utilize and maintain equipment as required by department; report any equipment problems immediately.
• Complete all applicable department training programs.
• Perform all duties in accordance all ShopRite Service Priorities (Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency).
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.

Our cake decorator's primary responsibilities are to support the bakery in stocking our case with an abundance of fresh, beautiful, high-quality products while providing world-class service to our guests. They will prepare a variety of cakes, desserts and pastries consistently at a high rate of speed; mix creams, sauces, fillings and icings; apply finishing work to cakes; take guest orders by phone and in-person; and assist the bakers and bakery clerks as needed while maintaining a clean, sanitary and attractive work environment.

The Nothing Bundt Cakes (NbC) Froster ensures that cakes of the highest quality are consistently created for our guests and contributes to superior service by meeting production demands. Following a strict proprietary recipe, NbC cake-frosting methods and food safety standards, the Froster makes our signature frosting and utilizes standardized application techniques to frost all of our delicious cakes. Accountabilities/Duties:

• Follows NbC proprietary frosting recipe and application methods with precision and achieves productivity goals.
• Effectively utilizes measuring instruments, commercial-grade or handheld mixer and pastry bag to frost cakes.
• Prioritizes cake pre-orders according to schedule and frosts cakes for walk-in guest orders accordingly.
• Ensures an adequate supply of samples and frosted cakes are available for guests in the bakery display case and maintains appropriate frosting and frosted cake par levels.
• Adheres to the proper packaging, labeling, and storage of frosted cakes as well as product rotation standards, and maintains frosting and refrigeration logs.
• Monitors inventory of frosting supplies and notifies management when replenishment is required.
• Evaluates baked and frosted cakes to ensure NbC standards are met and informs management of any quality control issues.
• Cleans, sanitizes and restocks workstation, ensure frosting supplies are sufficiently prepared for the next shift, and washes any equipment in the absence of the Dishwasher/Utility Employee.
