Job Title: Cold Stone Cake Decorator / Prep
Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Job Summary
As a Cake Decorator, you are responsible for maintaining a full display of "Signature" ice cream cakes and fulfilling custom guest orders. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, a steady hand for piping, and the ability to work efficiently in a cold environment. While you are primarily "behind the scenes," you may occasionally assist at the front counter during peak hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Production & Assembly: Build ice cream cakes, cupcakes, and cookie sandwiches from scratch using Cold Stones proprietary recipes and templates.
- Customization: Execute custom orders including specific color matching, themed designs, and professional-grade lettering/writing using icing or gel.
- Tool Proficiency: Skillfully operate decorating equipment including airbrush guns, piping bags, floral nails, and rotating turntables.
- Inventory Management: Monitor display freezer levels to ensure a diverse variety of 12+ Signature cakes (e.g., Midnight Delight, Cake Batter Confetti) are always available.
- Quality & Sanitation: Maintain a "sparkling clean" cake station. Follow strict food safety and labeling protocols to ensure product freshness.
- Order Management: Professionally handle phone and in-person cake consultations, documenting specific guest requests accurately to ensure 100% satisfaction.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Artistic Flair: Ability to pipe clean borders, create buttercream flowers, and write legibly on frozen surfaces.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long shifts and work comfortably in a refrigerated/freezer environment.
- Reliability: Cake decorators often work solo shifts; punctuality and the ability to manage your own production schedule are critical.
- Certifications: a valid Food Handlers Certificate.

ResponsibilitiesOur cake decorator's primary responsibilities are to support the bakery in stocking our case with an abundance of fresh, beautiful, high-quality products while providing world-class service to our guests. They will prepare a variety of cakes, desserts and pastries consistently at a high rate of speed; mix creams, sauces, fillings and icings; apply finishing work to cakes; take guest orders by phone and in-person; and assist the bakers and bakery clerks as needed while maintaining a clean, sanitary and attractive work environment.
QualificationsYou should meet the following requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to read and write in English
- An eye for color, texture and design with an attention to detail
- Experience in a retail environment producing a large number of cakes/pastries
- Ability to work at a fast pace while staying focused on completing individual tasks
- Basic understanding of the English language, which includes the ability to communicate, read and write basic instructions, schedules and signage

Responsibilities:1. Provide polite, friendly greetings and interactions with all guests.
2. Prepare product for sale (icing, decorating, pricing, packaging and labeling).
3. Maintain product level, quality and freshness.
4. When requested perform bakery clerk functions.
5. Maintain sanitation standards in the cooler, freezer, prep area and sales area.
6. Properly cleans work area, couplers and decorating bags.
7. Maintain the organization of the freezer, including proper rotation of product according to variety.
8. Communicate guest requests to management.
9. Communicate temperature breakdowns to supervisor.
10. Keeps supply area neat, clean and tidy at all times.
11. Properly rotates icings (including how to read dates of icings) and scrapes down buckets.
12. Use cake manual as reference material.
13. Write on cakes.
14. Properly mix colors according to color chart.
15. Masters the use of the airbrush.
16. Use cake production sheet.
17. Achieve budgeted sales, shrink and profits for the cake section of the bakery.
18. Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
19. Performs Front Porch duties to ensure guest arrival standard is maintained.
20. Announce specials and sale info on the PA system.
21. Assist in product receiving and storage.
Qualifications:1. Friendly, outgoing personality.
2. Ability to work well with others.
3. Ability to lift 25 lbs. consistently and 50 lbs. occasionally.
4. Ability to read and understand information and direction.
5. Effective communication, guest service and selling skills.
6. Must be at least 18 years old.
