If so, as a Patient Advocate with B SMART, you’ll be on the front-line helping patients navigate the challenges and details of a complex medical situation. You will bring empathy, care and knowledge to solve patients’ problems. We provide you the training, but we are looking for a tenacious person to advocate for their patients. The position of Patient Advocate is truly the heartbeat of our organization. The Patient Advocate provides opportunities for our patients to receive high quality infusions with one of our amazing provider partners. This is accomplished by actively listening to the patient’s story, learning possible issues related to current care, payment, access, etc. Asking in love to be a part of their journey and working with them or their family/support team to finalize the logistics.


The position will facilitate external dialogs with patients, providers and partners that further our mission to be the most valuable partner within the cancer healthcare space. Internally, this position works closely with Claims & Invoicing, Pre-Cert & Eligibility, Systems & Implementation, Account Management, and other teams to develop relationships that advance the company’s values and objectives.


This position will nurture B Smart’s patient-first culture with a sense of urgency to address patient needs, helping to mitigate the financial pain of a cancer or a high-cost infusion diagnosis.  


Key Responsibilities


  • Listen with empathy to understand the patient’s needs and potential opportunities for a solution
  • Not intimidated or fearful of reaching out to patients for the first introduction to our program
  • Communicate with patients, family members and health care professionals for a variety of situations
  • Address patient complaints and grievances, working to resolve issues related to care, payment and access to services
  • Provide a compassionate attitude in order to give emotional support and help the patients’ quality of life
  • Integrate the company values (patient-first, empathy, passion) in all engagements 
  • Protect and expand B Smarts reputation as a trusted partner
  • Identify mutually beneficial opportunities for Referral Partners and patients to access B Smart Providers
  • Champion the patient voice and experience internally and externally
  • Exceed and report on metrics that demonstrate the outcomes and impact of the company’s advocacy activities 
  • Maintain accurate records of patient, Referral Partner and provider interactions, issues, concerns and resolutions
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external regulations and guidelines


Qualifications


  • Experience in strategic patient advocacy and organizations in healthcare, self-funding or insurance. 
  • Successful track record working with patients and organizations in oncology and/or auto immune infusion therapy preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for engaging patients and presenting program effectively.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to establish rapport with patients and understand their needs.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to identify shared goals and achieve consensus among individuals from different cultures and disciplines. 
  • Proficiency in office software, such as Excel, Word, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, etc…
  • Demonstrated excellence managing timelines and priorities. 
  • Operate with Hustle; have a high bias towards positive action.

Responsibilities

Nursing Assistant assists patients with delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care, which support nursing practice under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. The nursing assistant carries out designated activities that are within those functions limited by law to unlicensed nursing personnel. What you’ll need:

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Must: 7+ years of progressive experience in Patient Access and Revenue Cycle Management, with a demonstrated track record of improving operational performance.
  • Must: 3 years of Supervisory or Management experience leading teams.
  • Must: Patient access experience within a clinical laboratory environment required.
  • Experience working in startup or high-growth organizations with the ability to design and scale sustainable process.
  • Proficiency with laboratory billing systems (e.g., Telcor, Quadax, XiFin) or similar platforms.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience driving change, developing talent and building high-performing teams.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, billing practices, medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 coding.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients, staff and leadership.

Responsibilities

Requirements:

Summary

Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure and performs sponging, suturing, suctioning, holding retractors, and homeostasis. Monitors the patient and equipment during surgery and prepares patients for transport to and from surgery.

Job Duties

  • Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during routine and complex assignments in the scrub role.
  • Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
  • Intervenes to correct, minimize, or prevent actual or potential risks, based upon observation of physiological and/or behavioral data.
  • Solves problems, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in care and handling of equipment.
  • Serves as the preceptor for new employees, transfers, and/or affiliating students.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Technical School Diploma Surgical technician program
  • 4 years experience in an operating room.
  • Accepts and recognizes differences among people.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the procedure and for maintenance of the sterile field.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the problem solving process in the identification and resolution of patient care or other problems.
  • Demonstrates the capacity to become competent and perform a variety of required technical skills.

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Patient Flow Coordinator manages patient flow through the hospital and clinical coordination of care across the continuum. Patient Flow Coordinator duties encompass developing length of stay (LOS) and resource reduction strategies, as well as capitalizing on facility best practices. The Coordinator will also ensure that improvement opportunities are appropriately channeled to effect change, coordinate compliance initiatives with outside agencies, intervene with the hospitalists & PCP's to address and resolve issues related to facility utilization and patient flow process and facilitate strong working relationship between caregivers, case management, and admitting departments to promote effective coordination of efforts involving patient flow.

What you will do in this role:

  • Facilitates patient throughput with an on-going focus on quality and efficiency.
  • Screens admissions for appropriateness of level of care and bed assignments.
  • Evaluates, monitors, and improves the patient flow program effectiveness.
  • Navigates or resolves medical necessity, admission status, and bed assignment issues.
  • Prioritizes bed requests, coordinates bed reservations, and assigns bed reservation holds.
  • Acts as a liaison between physicians, patient/family, hospital staff, and outside agencies.
  • Monitors facility and departmental triggers and facility capacity/occupancy.
  • Facilitates bed management meetings.
  • Assists Senior Executive Leadership in tracking and trending barriers to patient flow.
  • Adheres to established corporate and facility policy and procedure and standards of care.
  • Maintains current and accurate information in EXPANSE (and/or other) system.
  • Serves as local resource for end-user and new Bed Management/House Supervisor staff.
  • Applies understanding of EMTALA regulations to decisions regarding ER and interfacility transfer patients.
  • Serves as first line liaison for problem solving for Bed Management.
  • Actively functions as system resource by supporting parallel and live activities for Bed Management.
  • Supports Senior Leadership in the education of nurses, physicians, and ancillary staffs in level of care and bed placement issues.
  • Evaluation and implementation of patient flow to ensure maximization of the hospital resources.
  • Continually evaluate, monitor and improve the patient flow program effectiveness as it relates to utilization review, resource management, and discharge planning and care coordination.
  • Escalates medical necessity issues, admission status issues, and bed assignment conflicts as needed to the appropriate resources.
  • Promptly assigns bed reservation holds for all admissions and transfers in the hospital.
  • Through effective and professional communication, acts as a liaison between and with physicians, patient / family, hospital staff and patient care areas, and outside agencies to promote efficient, appropriate patient flow.
  • Responsively monitors facility and departmental triggers and facility capacity / occupancy and to initiate actions that mitigate saturation.
  • Serve as the educational leader to physicians, nursing and staff as it relates to length of stay, patient flow resource management and patient throughput.
  • Facilitates bed management meeting efficiently and effectively communicates resources and issues to appropriate areas of the facility.
  • Makes recommendations and develops action plans to improve processes and systems.
  • Escalates issues through the established Chain of Command in a timely manner.
  • Assists in process definition to support set up of Bed Management Program.
  • Shares enhanced knowledge and skills related to Bed Management program and technology.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing required from an accredited institution
  • Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.
  • BLS-AHA Provider issued card required within 30 days of start
