General Summary:

Position Summary

The Pastry Chef leads the pastry department, creating high-quality, innovative desserts, breads, and pastries for a luxury hotel or resort. This role oversees all pastry production, presentation, and departmental operations while maintaining the highest culinary and service standards.

Key Responsibilities

Culinary Leadership & Creativity

• Develop and execute seasonal dessert menus, specialty pastries, breads, and plated desserts

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional pastry experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
• Experience in luxury hotels, resorts, or high-end restaurants
• Expertise in classic and contemporary pastry techniques, baking, and chocolate work
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation, and kitchen operations

Preferred Qualifications

Work Experience &/or Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Frequent walking and standing.
• Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling and reaching to run check out station and stock merchandise.
• Frequent handling of merchandise and equipment such as hand-held scanners, pricing guns, box cutters, hoses, merchandise containers, two-wheel dollies, rolltainers (four-wheel rolling merchandise carts) and U-boats (six-wheel carts).
• Frequent and proper lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 55 pounds.
• Occasional climbing using ladder.
• Regularly driving/providing own transportation to make bank deposits, attend meetings and travel to other Dollar General stores.
• Fast-paced environment; moderate noise level.
• Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.
• May be exposed to extreme cold in freezers.
