About the Role
Topgun Auto Service is looking for a skilled, "A-Level" Automotive Technician to join our team in Amarillo. We aren't just looking for someone to turn wrenches; we're looking for a lead tech who takes pride in their diagnostics and can handle the work of two "parts changers."
We have a steady flow of loyal customers and a shop environment where your expertise is respected. If you're tired of the dealership grind or "big box" retail shops that don't value your time, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Do
* Advanced Diagnostics: Perform high-level engine, electrical, and drivability diagnostics using modern scan tools.
* Full-Service Repair: Handle everything from suspension and brakes to complex engine and transmission work.
* Quality Control: Ensure every vehicle leaving the bay is safe and the job is done right the first time.
* Mentorship: Occasionally assist B-level techs with troubleshooting difficult repairs.
What We're Looking For
* Experience: 5+ years of professional automotive repair experience (A-Level or High B-Level).
* Skills: Strong diagnostic "detective" skills. You should be comfortable with electrical systems and modern vehicle computer networks.
* Tools: Must have your own well-stocked toolbox.
* Certifications: ASE certifications are a plus, but we value proven experience and a strong work ethic above all else.
* Mindset: A "fix it right the first time" attitude.

- Performs work as outlined on repair order such as oil change, tune-ups, checking/replacing fluid levels and tire rotation with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair with use of testing and diagnostic equipment.Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended using checklists.Communicates with service advisor and customers immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time. Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) is required.
- Valid Driver License and clean driving record.
- Ability to read and comprehend instruction and information.
- Ability to use a computer to search for bulletins or technical information.
- Ability to provide your own tools. (All manufacturer specific/special tools will be supplied by the dealer to share).
- ASE certification is preferred.
- Must supply your own OSHA approved footwear.
