Day to Day:


  • A typical day for a zVM administrator usually starts with checking system health-reviewing logs, monitoring alerts, and ensuring servers and critical services are running smoothly.
  • By the end of the day, a zVM admin ensures systems are stable, secure, and ready for whatever workloads come next.
  • Performs operational support for zVM environment: Work tickets, perform upgrades, participate in disaster recovery exercises.


Duties:


  • Write or debug programs to maintain and control computer systems software, such as operating systems, networked systems, and database systems. Provide technical and disaster recovery support for systems software.
  • 40% Research and analyze systems software problems and implement workable solutions or escalate as appropriate.
  • 40% Install, test, and maintain systems software including installing updates, upgrades, and patches, initiating tests of system programs and observing results to detect errors or work stoppage, and modifying code to correct errors.

  • Candidate must be eligible to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance

Raytheon is seeking a talented Senior Principal System Security Engineering (SSE) Program Lead - P5 . This individual will be responsible for program execution, leading an SSE team, and providing guidance to program-level systems/software/hardware architects. This person will also serve as a direct interface during important reviews, briefings, and technical exchange/demos. Communication and collaboration with the customer as well as with other engineering disciplines is required to ensure the program-level chief engineers and architectures support the programs needs. The person in this role will lead the analysis of SSE issues that directly affect the system. The individual will work with the program and customer in the development of the system, providing strategic input and planning for the system, applications, architecture, and design in a dynamic, agile development environment. Performing Task Lead duties (e.g., task planning, product owner, scrum master)
Interact with customer to define SSE requirements, solutions, trades, costs, implementation, system impacts, and effectiveness
Support developing plans and estimates, task execution, project tracking, reporting, and risk identification and mitigation plans
Plan and guide SSE implementations in customer systems
Consult and assist program line management with SSE architectures and issues
Developing top-level system requirements, and flowing down requirements and implementation concepts to subsystem
Understanding, and compliance with, DoD technology release and export licensing policies
Working with Earned Value Management (EVM)
Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 10 years of prior relevant experience

Experience in System Security Engineering, computer technology reverse engineering, AT, cybersecurity or embedded security
Experience designing, implementing, testing and fielding real-time embedded security-oriented solutions on Department of Defense (DoD) programs with secure systems technologies, methodologies, policies and guidelines
Experience generating security (AT and/or program protection) requirements, design and architecture artifacts, plans and/or policies
DoD Top Secret clearance with current SSBI within last 5 years desired
Advanced Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Computer Science, Engineering Science, Business Administration, and/or Robotics
Experience in design, development and fielding of SSE systems
Software, Firmware, & Microelectronics Engineering, Cryptography and FPGA design
Experience in the implementation and business growth of SSE implementation throughout the entire life cycle
Cyber Certifications in accordance with DoDD 8570/DoDD 8140 such as CISSP, GSLC, CEH
Program management experience with SSE
Aircraft/weapons integration experience
Strategic planning and proposal writing skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with coworkers, suppliers, stakeholders, and customers in a team environment
Experience contributing in a team environment for the purpose of developing creative solutions to technical problems
