Law schools have a responsibility to prepare graduates for this reality by embedding AI technologies and literacy into the core of legal education. In addition, as courts, law firms, and corporate legal departments increasingly adopt AI-driven tools across a wide range of work product, client services, and internal operations, proficiency in and understanding of these technologies are essential for effective and ethical practice, competent legal advice, and legal leadership.

By providing strategic and thought leadership in integrating AI competency across the educational experience, the Vice Dean/Vice President will ensure that our academic programs remain workplace-relevant and at the forefront of innovation. This role will advance the institution’s goals of fostering AI literacy and ethical AI use, and of preparing graduates to lead in a rapidly changing legal environment.
Because Southwestern anticipates that other technologies will emerge that also will impact legal education and law practice, we anticipate that this role will evolve as technology evolves.
Key Responsibilities (administrative – approx. 75%)
- Strategic leadership in academic AI: Work with the faculty and other senior law school leaders to develop and implement a long-term vision for AI and other legal technology across the curriculum, assessment, and student support. Maintain an evolving AI and technology strategy incorporating immediate, short-term, medium-term, and long-term plans. Stay curious about and maintain awareness of evolving AI technologies, uses, and potential applications in law schools and the legal profession, as well as legal and regulatory frameworks and ethical guidelines. Consider how the law school can continue to lead in areas of traditional strength, including entertainment law, public service/public interest law, and advocacy. Ensure the law school’s initiatives keep pace with industry developments and best practices.
- Curricular integration, AI literacy, and innovation: Collaborate with the faculty to integrate AI and other technology into the J.D. Learning Outcomes and existing courses and to design new courses and programs. Collaborate with faculty to help determine what skills students will need to practice law in the future and how to adjust the curriculum to ensure graduates are prepared to practice. Help train or secure training for faculty and students to ensure the desired level of AI and technology literacy and capacity to engage in AI and technology leadership in practice.
- Policy development and academic integrity: On a regular basis, work with the faculty and senior campus leaders to review and revise policies, guidance statements, and other statements of best practices implicated by or impacting the use of AI or other technology. Devise and implement approaches and guidelines for operationalizing AI tools and technology, including experiments and pilots.
- Faculty development and support: In collaboration with the IDEA Committee, organize workshops, tutorials, and individualized consultations to help faculty build AI literacy, experiment with AI-assisted teaching and research methods, learn about other technologies that might advance teaching, learning, and scholarship, and develop accessible materials.
- IT partnership and technology vetting: Collaborate with the law school’s CIO, IT department, Associate Dean for Assessment, and Institutional Effectiveness Office to identify, evaluate, and implement AI-related or other technology-related software and platforms that impact the academic mission. Help ensure that new tools align with educational objectives. Help develop and vet appropriate training for faculty and students. Monitor, track, and report on the usage, effectiveness, and Return on Investment. Collaborate to develop institutional AI-use policies to ensure data security and legal compliance.
- Data analytics and research: Work with the Institutional Effectiveness Office to collect and analyze data on student performance, satisfaction, and engagement in AI-integrated courses and initiatives, and AI practice-readiness. Lead or support grant proposals and research projects that examine the impact of AI and other technology on student learning, access to justice, and professional responsibility.
- Ethical and regulatory guidance: Monitor laws, legal ethics opinions and guidance, and regulatory developments relating to AI and related technology and issues. Work with the school’s General Counsel and CIO to ensure compliance.
- External relationships and programming: Serve as Southwestern’s liaison to external organizations regarding AI initiatives, and participate in conferences and other events. Investigate potential partnerships with other institutions of higher education, nonprofits, government institutions, and reputable technology companies. Participate in offering AI-related CLEs to alumni on an annual basis. Periodically present programming around AI and the Law, inviting AI and other relevant legal technology practitioners to update the Law School community on current and upcoming developments. Build partnerships for externships, clinics, and other programs that might benefit students and faculty. Engage alumni, practitioners, and judges through surveys, focus groups, an advisory board, or events.
- Institutional effectiveness and accreditation: Contribute to Southwestern’s accreditation efforts by documenting how AI initiatives support mission fulfillment, student achievement, and continuous improvement. Coordinate with the ABA, WSCUC, and other accrediting bodies on emerging standards for AI and other technology in legal education.
- Resource development and funding: Work with the President & Dean and the Institutional Advancement Office to research and pursue grant, foundation, and donor support for AI and other technology programming and initiatives.
Teaching Responsibilities (approx. 25%)
Teach, on average, one course per year on the intersection of AI with the legal system or profession.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school or an equivalent law degree from a foreign law school.
- At least 10 years of full-time teaching experience at an ABA-accredited law school.
- Tenure-eligible.
- Distinguished record of teaching and scholarshipcommensurate with the appointment offered.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted research, drafting, or analysis tools in legal or academic settings. Familiarity with emerging AI regulations and ethical frameworks.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, manage budgets and programs, and deliver projects on schedule. Prior administrative experience in higher‑education settings is strongly preferred.
- Experience developing learning outcomes and conducting program assessment.
- Excellent writing and public‑speaking skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-specialists; willingness to engage with faculty, students, alumni, and the bar.
Compensation:
$250,000-$350,000 (12-month appointment), commensurate with qualifications and higher education administrative experience. Additional administrative stipend equal to that paid to other Vice Deans (currently $50,000/year). Professional development and travel budget.

The administrative appointment is at will, while the faculty appointment would be continuing (assuming an appointment with tenure is offered).

The Instructor will teach classes onsite. Instructors are teaching mostly 1st and 2nd shift. The content is already created so the Instructor is not responsible for creating the content.

Job Summary:
- Utilize teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works.
- Apply learning techniques to ensure student retention and prove competency in specific tasks and behaviors.
- Manage the course training environment to enable the course content to be delivered as designed.
- Delivers training sessions covering specified areas of technical specialty.
- Deploys learning assessments to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of recommended training.
- Travels to client sites as needed.
- Participate in and prepare to deliver other courses within expertise domain knowledge areas
Qualifications:
- Experience in the aviation/aerospace Industry
- Experience as an Instructor in a classroom environment
- Manage basic technology to deliver

Job Title: Business Analyst/(ERP) Training Specialist’s
Location: Woodbridge, VA
Schedule: Hybrid
Duration: 12+ Months with possible extension
Position Summary:
Working in collaboration with the Organizational Development team, the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Training Specialist’s primary role is to design, develop, and facilitate training programs for enterprise-wide systems in a dynamic environment. This role will be a key contributor to a major IT transformation project integrating Oracle Fusion with enterprise-wide systems (FIS, CCS, EPM, OPC and BI). The ideal candidate will have experience developing ERP training materials, including training guide, quick reference guides, and microlearning content, along with facilitating learning events. The ideal candidate should also have experience supporting organizational change management processes aligned with major ERP and CIS implementations.
Position Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions:
Training Program Development
- Design and deliver training programs tailored to utility industry roles (accounting, finance, customer service, procurement, project management etc.) along with the primary software implementation partner.
- Coordinate with Organizational Development Manager to ensure deliverables from the System Implementor meet the standards and re-usability criteria
Instructional Content Creation
- Closely work with System Implementor in developing ERP training materials such as training guides, quick reference guides, microlearning content, interactive simulations, tutorials, and assessments.
Collaboration and Information Gathering
- Work closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather core information and create effective training content based on department/division needs
- Work with other partners (Testing, Report development, Integration vendors) as needed to develop support and training documents
- Facilitate meetings to understand system functionality and business processes.
Training Delivery
- Coordinate with internal SMEs and external partners to ensure consistent training delivery as per the training plan.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and periodically update training materials.
Tools and Technology
- Knowledge in financial, budgeting and procurement business process aligned with Oracle Fusion ERP systems and/or Oracle CC&B in utility industry.
- Understanding of EPM Capital Planning Process and Primavera based project management is a plus.
- Experience in platforms such as Articulate, Lectora, or similar tools to develop training content is a plus.
- Publish and maintain content via a centralized repository or Learning Management System (LMS).
Project and Vendor Coordination
- Manage project timelines, scope, and budget in collaboration with the project management team.
- Assist the Learning and Development Manager to manage vendors and contracts.
Continuous Improvement
- Regularly update training materials based on system changes and user feedback and utilize knowledge management practices.
- Recommend process improvements and enhancements to training delivery.
Organizational Development
- Research, evaluate, and make recommendations to Organizational Development-related initiatives in leadership/career development, employee engagement and retention, succession planning, performance management, knowledge transfer, change management, onboarding, and other areas of improvement relevant to the overall effectiveness of the organization.
- Assist the Learning and Development Manager with review of employee learning and development requests, focused on reconciliations, alignment of organizational priorities, and budget.
- Coordinate, communicate, and schedule learning and development activities for employees, including but not limited to coordinating and organizing enrollment, assembly of necessary program materials, setting up of the classroom, ordering or purchasing supplies, etc.
- Manage learning facilities and amenities to coordinate logistical arrangements for instructor-led training.
- Conduct organization-wide needs assessments to identify skill and knowledge gaps that need to be enhanced or addressed.
- Meet with management and employees to assess and determine yearly learning and development and organizational development needs as directed.
- Write articles for employee newsletters and other publications for the utility industry.
- May be deemed essential at any time.
Essential Competencies:
- Understanding and experience/overview of Oracle Fusion components (GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Projects, Procurement, Contracts, EPM) and Primavera.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of organizational development and adult learning; data collection and statistical methodology; computer equipment and software applications related to assignment; and English usage, spelling, and grammar.
- Ability to conduct learning and development events applying adult learning principles; design training materials following Instructional System Design requirements; develop eLearning content using authoring tools; and facilitate group discussions.
- Familiarity with tools like Articulate, Captiva, Lectora, or other instructional design platforms is highly desirable.
- Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information; manage multiple projects; meet deadlines; analyze situations carefully and recommend solutions, understand, interpret, apply, and reach decisions following and Division policies and procedures; organize and prioritize work; follow established codes, policies, and guidelines; and work independently in the absence of supervision.

Minimum Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management/education, Adult Learning and Training, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience developing training materials (Oracle experience strongly preferred) and delivering in-person, webinar, and virtual training.
- Familiarity with instructional design tools such as Articulate, Lectora, or similar.
- Or a combination of education and experience described above.
- Exposure to organizations that have implemented or upgraded Oracle EBS Financials, Budgeting, and Procurement modules preferred.
- Experience documenting business processes and supporting training programs during major IT system or ERP roll-outs.
- Functional or technical experience in finance (AP, AR, Procurement, Budgeting) is a plus.
- Relevant IT certifications are desirable.

We are hiring instructors for 1st shift (typically 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.) and 2nd shift (typically 3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.).
All course materials are already developed, so instructors will focus solely on delivering the training vs. creating content. We are looking for individuals with an aviation or aerospace background who also bring presentation and instructor skills.
