The Opportunity

We are looking for motivated developers for our intern-to-full-time track. You will be given full-time responsibilities from day one in a high-velocity growth startup environment. About the Role

We are hiring a Backend Engineer who can design, implement, and maintain the robust, scalable server-side systems that power our platform. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks focused on data integrity, API performance, and system reliability, working on features from the database all the way through to serving the application's core logic.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Development: Design and develop robust Node.js (TypeScript) server-side applications, build and maintain RESTful APIs, and ensure data integrity and security within MongoDB.
• Database & Data Modeling: Own the database schema design, optimization, querying, and indexing within MongoDB Atlas to ensure high performance and scalability.
• API Architecture: Define and evolve the structure of our internal and external RESTful APIs, focusing on performance, security, and maintainability.
• System Scalability: Implement caching, message queues, and distributed system concepts to ensure the platform remains performant and scalable under high load.
• Security & Compliance: Implement secure authentication systems, ensure HIPAA compliance, and maintain high security standards across the platform, especially for data at rest and in transit.

Required Qualifications

Successful candidates must have a specific deep specialization and a foundational understanding of the others to contribute across the backend stack:

• Backend Foundation:
• 2+ years of experience with Node.js (TypeScript, API development).
• Strong understanding of modern web security, data protection, and collaborative development workflows using Git/GitHub.
• Backend Depth: Strong expertise with MongoDB (design, optimization, complex querying, aggregation pipelines) and implementing robust RESTful APIs with authentication, authorization, and error handling.

The California Policy Lab (CPL) generates research insights for government impact. Through hands-on partnerships with government agencies, CPL performs rigorous research across issue silos and builds the data infrastructure necessary to improve programs and policies that millions of Californians rely on every day. We work on California's most urgent issues, including homelessness, poverty, criminal justice reform, and education inequality. At its Berkeley site, CPL resides as a center within the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment (IRLE). CPL recognizes the value of having a diverse staff at all levels of the organization. The Health & Safety Net Researcher will lead CPL's research portfolio relating to the social safety net and health, in collaboration with and under the oversight of CPL's faculty affiliates and Research Director. This is an exciting role for a skilled safety net and/or health researcher who wants to design and conduct policy-relevant quantitative research in partnership with state and local agencies throughout California. The Health & Safety Net Researcher conducts quantitative research, including conceptualizing research questions and design; requesting, receiving, and cleaning data files; creating and implementing an analysis plan; conducting quality assurance reviews; summarizing results in documents for both academic and policy audiences; and generating replicability documentation. The Health & Safety Net Researcher can implement multiple research designs and analysis techniques, including but not limited to randomized control trials, quasi-experimental designs using natural experiments or other such variation, and difference-in-difference and event study analyses. Further, a successful candidate can lead research projects under the oversight of CPL's Research Director with small teams, write proposals to support research projects, and ensure timely and high-quality completion of research tasks. The position will report to the Research Director and will work directly with leading social policy researchers at UC and other top universities, state and local government agency staff, and CPL's leadership team.

UCF Information Technology (UCF IT) is seeking a Cloud Computing Engineer I to join the Infrastructure team and apply technical expertise to maintain UCF's cloud computing environment. The Cloud Computing Engineer I will support cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, VMware, and Google Cloud, with a focus on software-defined networking and zero-trust architectures.

The Cloud Computing Engineer I will follow documentation and best practices, consult with internal customers on new projects and implementations, and collaborate with multiple teams and departments during new Azure cloud initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Respond to service requests and incidents related to Azure cloud infrastructure. Fulfill routine infrastructure requests including virtual machine provisioning, storage allocation, and network configurations. Troubleshoot basic issues and escalate complex problems to senior engineers as appropriate.

  
  

• Perform routine infrastructure builds and deployments in Azure, including virtual machines, virtual networks, storage accounts, and other cloud resources. Follow established templates, runbooks, and best practices to ensure consistent and secure deployments across environments.

  
  

• Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, availability, and cost metrics using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and related tools. Build and maintain dashboards to visualize key performance indicators. Alert appropriate teams when thresholds are exceeded or anomalies are detected.

The Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading front-end development for client projects and internal innovation initiatives

Required experience:
