- Manage food, beverage, and non-labor costs through proper hands on monitoring.

Essentia Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our well-established and growing Nephrology team in Fargo, North Dakota. This role offers the opportunity to practice within one of the largest and most diverse nephrology patient populations in the Upper Midwest, while working in a highly collaborative, physician-led environment. You will join a cohesive department of three nephrologists and two advanced practice clinicians, supported by experienced clinic and dialysis staff. Our team delivers comprehensive kidney care across the continuum, including chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, hypertension, glomerular disorders, and end-stage renal disease. Care is provided across outpatient clinic and dialysis center settings, with strong interdisciplinary collaboration. This position serves a large regional catchment area across North Dakota and Minnesota, providing meaningful opportunities to expand access to specialty kidney care in both urban and rural communities. The role includes travel to established outreach sites, supporting continuity of care and strengthening regional nephrology services.

Job Summary
Responsible for utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes/planning, implementation and evaluation) to provide individualized nursing care. Demonstrates competency and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge and utilizes appropriate age and population specific standards as designated in their assigned clinical setting. Functions within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in the Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Rules in state of practice and licensure. The Sanford Professional Nursing Practice recognizes the Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements as published by the American Nurses Association as the foundation of nursing care delivery and professional conduct.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Nursing strongly preferred in Bemidji and Rapid City. Required in Fargo and Sioux Falls (Sanford USD Medical Center and Clinics). Required in Bismarck or enrolled and starting a Bachelor's degree program within one year of hire with a completion date within three years upon date of hire into position. Required in Fargo Network and Sioux Falls Network, or employees hired after January, 2025, who do not possess a Bachelor's degree in the required field, leadership may consider an educational plan with proven continuous action toward achieving a Bachelor's degree in Nursing within five years of hire into position. Approval from the Nursing Executive for the market is required in order to waive the bachelor degree requirement (at time of hire). Additionally, for Rural Health Network facilities, for current employees, leadership may have considered acceptable qualifications and work experience equivalency based on facility size, rural market, and business need, prior to new Sanford education requirements.
Graduate from an accredited nursing program, including, but not limited to, those accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
Minimum of two years' clinical experience preferred.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
Basic Life Support (BLS) is required and must be obtained within six months of employment.

Our Behavioral Health team is seeking a psychiatrist to join us in serving our patient populations throughout the local and outlying communities. This MD will be responsible for providing behavioral health services to individual patients across lifespan. Our professional, patient centered, and compassionate behavioral health providers and support staff are a source of excellent support and extensive resources. The Behavioral Health Division at Essentia Health includes physicians, psychologists, nurse practitioners, clinical social workers, psychiatric physician assistants, nurses, and dedicated support staff. - Part-time or full-time; daily schedule is Monday through Friday from 8am-5pm; no evenings or weekends
- Practice will consist of primarily outpatient practice with the possibility of a rotating schedule for provision of inpatient/ED consults
- Pediatric experience and competence preferred, though not required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Interpersonal Requirements:
Psychiatrists in Behavioral Health are expected to be competent and confident in provision of the following:
- Conducting health screenings and psychiatric evaluations.
- Prescribing, monitoring, managing, and evaluating psychopharmacological medications.
- Providing integrated mental health services in general health settings.
- Collaborating with other psychiatrists, psychologists, clinical social workers, nurse practitioners, and support staff.
- Seeking consultation and referring patients to other providers when necessary.
- Collaborating with other departments and specialties when appropriate in order to effectively and ethically treat patients with complex medical needs and comorbid mental health concerns.
In addition, the candidate should possess:
- Highly developed analytical critical thinking and organizational skills, as well as strong oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to build effective working relationships and to use tact, discretion, and diplomacy when working with others.
- Ability to stay calm and focused in a busy environment.
- Use of good judgment in emergency situations.
- Keyboard skills and basic computer skills.
A Behavioral Health psychiatrist is able to utilize advanced health assessment, knowledge, and decision-making skills, while working both independently and in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals. This provider will build rapport and prescribe medications, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention. This position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with patients, co-workers, and others.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
- MD degree with Board Certification or Board Eligibility in psychiatry.
- ABPP certification preferred, though not required.
- Child/adolescent certification preferred, though not required.
- Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
