Job Overview:
The Real-Time Scheduler / Curtailment Specialist plays a critical operational role in Applied Digital’s energy optimization strategy across its North Dakota data center footprint. This role focuses on executing real-time and intraday curtailment actions, monitoring price signals, and ensuring operational compliance during high-volatility windows.
This position requires strong situational awareness, rapid decision-making skills, and a technical understanding of grid behavior, LMP price dynamics, and operational constraints. Candidates from power plant operations, utility dispatching, ISO operations, or generation control rooms are highly preferred due to their experience in fast-paced, time-sensitive environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Real-Time Operational Execution
- Execute curtailment actions based on live market prices, operational limitations, and approved strategy.
- Continuously monitor LMP price curves, real-time SCADA data, load forecasts, outage impacts, and congestion trends.
- Adjust site operating levels when intraday price deviations or grid advisories occur.
- Coordinate tightly with Operators to ensure precise and timely execution of curtailment instructions.
Utility / Market Coordination & Compliance
- Submit curtailment notifications, operating adjustments, and required communications to utilities or market operators.
- Interpret and act on system advisories, transmission congestion notices, outage reports, and tariff requirements.
- Monitor for imbalance risk, schedule deviations, or non-compliance conditions and escalate as needed.
- Ensure all actions align with utility tariffs, operational limits, and internal compliance standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Analysts to refine optimization models, deliver real-time data feedback, and strengthen short-term forecasting.
- Provide operational insights to Engineering and Operations Leadership based on real-time system behavior.
- Support training of Operators on foundational optimization principles and response pathways.
Continuous Improvement & SOP Development
- Participate in daily review of prior-day events to evaluate execution quality and identify optimization improvements.
- Assist in the development of SOPs, escalation ladders, and response playbooks.
- Support the expansion of automation, dashboards, and tracking systems.
Peak Volatility Coverage
This role is part of a rotating coverage schedule for the hours most critical to optimization:
- 6 AM – 10 AM (morning volatility)
- 5 PM – 9 PM (evening volatility)
Additional availability may be required during extreme weather, unplanned grid events, or market anomalies.
Required Qualifications:
- 2–5+ years of experience in any of the following:
- Utility real-time operations or load dispatch
- Power plant control room operations
- Generation dispatching or merchant power scheduling
- Transmission or balancing authority operations
- Strong understanding of:
- LMP pricing behavior and congestion impacts
- Transmission constraints, reliability events, and operational limits
- Ramp rates, load flexibility, and industrial operating profiles
- Proficiency with SCADA systems, dispatch consoles, or utility/ISO operational portals.
- Ability to interpret operational and pricing data quickly and accurately.
- Strong verbal communication skills and calm decision-making under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating within MISO, SPP, ERCOT, or similar markets.
- Familiarity with large industrial loads, data center operations, or flexible load management.
- Exposure to demand response programs, curtailment workflows, or load optimization.
- Experience building or using real-time dashboards or plotting/analytic tools.
Physical Requirements:
Able to remain in a seated position for an extended period and to lift and carry up to 15 lbs. (office manuals, case notebooks, case files, case materials, standard boxes, report binders, etc.) as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee and manage a staff that will include some combination of Sr. Account Executives, Account Executives, and Account Managers with responsibility to oversee the Insurance Programs for assigned clients. Generally, this position is a very experienced team leader who manages a specific book of business. This position is matrixed to General Business Producers under whose auspices the Sr. Account Consultant is fully responsible and accountable for the total management of assigned clients. Primary function is to maximize Producer ability to generate revenue by relieving Producer non-sales duties and activities.
Customer Satisfaction and Client Retention
- Oversee and manage the execution and delivery of client calendar/timeline milestones
- Lead and conduct meetings and other communication with client to assess, maintain, and improve customer satisfaction as well as, when appropriate, take on client-facing duties previously handled by Producer.
- Proactively maintain positive client relationship and have mastered the ability to analyze situations, make proactive decisions and direct a team to follow-through

REQUIREMENTS:
- Licensed: Texas P&C Agent
- 10+ years of Executive/Senior Level Account Management or Underwriting experience that includes some personnel oversight
- CIC & CRM, or CPCU required
- If no designation, then 15+ years of experience as an Sr. Account Consultant or Account Executive
- Mastery level knowledge of property and casualty products, services, market dynamics, carriers/wholesalers/vendors for guaranteed cost and loss sensitive programs.

What you’ll do:
Design and deliver enterprise-grade solutions for Release and Change Management within IT Service Management. Drive automation, data driven and AI enabled integration, and process optimization to enhance resilience, accelerate delivery, and ensure service reliability. Focus on transitioning from fragmented, application-specific practices to mature enterprise models by embedding AI-powered capabilities such as predictive risk analysis, automated change validation, and intelligent scheduling across RM/CM processes.
- Architecture & Design: Build scalable, high-availability systems for standardized RM/CM processes. Integrate automation, AI, and data analytics for efficiency and consistency.
- Agile & DevOps Enablement: Embed SAFe, Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD principles. Optimize pipelines for rapid, secure deployments.
- Data and AI-Enabled Release Management Strategy: Transition from fragmented, app-driven practices to a mature enterprise model by embedding data and AI-powered capabilities across solution areas—predictive analytics, automated risk assessment, and intelligent change validation.
- Requirements & Integration: Translate business needs into technical specifications. Ensure seamless integration with ITSM platforms, cloud services, and infrastructure.
- Sprint-Based Delivery: Use iterative sprint approach to develop standardized policies and tools, pilot quickly, and scale across the enterprise.
- Technical Leadership: Guide cross-functional teams, foster innovation, and align solutions with business objectives.
- Performance & Reliability: Analyze system performance, troubleshoot proactively, and minimize incidents. Benchmark metrics. Building Dashboard for tracking progress and metrics.
- Governance & Compliance: Standardize RM/CM processes with secure, auditable, and repeatable patterns.
- Continuous Improvement: Use post-release analytics to refine processes and adopt emerging trends.
- Documentation & Training: Maintain clear documentation and deliver training on AI-enabled RM/CM strategy to enterprise partners.

What you’ll need:
- Expert level Knowledge of SDLC for SAFe Agile and DevOps environments; best-in-class Release and Change Management framework and IT Service Management.
- Data and AI Skillset: Advanced Data analytics, KPI metrics, and Prompt Engineering expertise; Guiding development of Agentic AI workflows and Gen AI use cases; Power BI, Python
- Governance and Communication: Establishing process framework, Implementing solutions and tools, Building standardized playbooks, and leading governance boards for ATS-wide implementation
What you’ll bring:
Required
- 7+ years in Systems Engineering, ITSM, RM/CM
- Expertise in SAFe, Agile, DevOps, CI/CD, Data Analytics, building Gen AI use cases
- Experience with AI technologies, Python, SQL, data analytics, Power BI and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow)
- Modern Enterprise Release Management/Change Management and ITSM
- Advanced expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI

- BS/BA in Computer Science
- Preferred Tools (Modern Release Management processes for Agile and DevOps environments)
- Jira Align, JSM, Jira Cloud, Git for enterprise RM/CM

Our Principal System Engineering earns between $141,300-$237,400 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
