The Special Activities and Intelligence (SAI) Program in our Operational Warfighting (OPS) Division at CNA is hiring for a part-time Research Scientist. Staff at this level will typically be leading smaller and/or less complex projects, playing a critical role as a team member on projects with specific technical/scientific expertise. The SAI program conducts analyses that help decision-makers integrate information, intelligence, and exquisite effects into fleet operations. JOB DESCRIPTION AND/OR DUTIES



1. Routinely produces analysis on structured and unstructured problems that meets CNA's quality standards with limited direction and general supervision. Shows the ability to synthesize analytic results into a broader context. Can lead complex analytic projects with supervision. 2. Develops and maintains deep, specific institutional knowledge and expertise of primary clients/sponsors; their culture, organization, and issues. Uses that knowledge to support training & mentoring of new staff, to support on-going work, and to support development and shaping of new work for existing clients/ sponsors.



3. Balances responsiveness to guidance with independent action. Contributes productively and harmoniously to the work of others; treats everyone respectfully, professionally and fairly. Independently identifies opportunities for collaboration within team, division, and operating unit. Supports supervisor's initiatives and helps make vision a reality. 4. 7. Demonstrates strong and effective communications skills, to include ability to summarize and synthesize larger pieces of work into effective executive summaries/executive briefings. Can effectively present work to more senior and larger audiences. Effectively communicates with & engages colleagues at all levels of the organization.



8. Works under limited direction and general supervision from division management. Can lead projects of low to medium size and/or complexity, as well as significant tasks on large or more complex projects. Effectively manages all aspects of assigned projects, to include delivery of high-quality analytic products on-time, and on-budget.



9. Plays a supporting role in the mentoring and training of new staff individually or as a member of a project team. Regularly demonstrates initiative in pursuing improvements in the quality of our projects and analytic products. Participates in corporate initiatives when asked to do so, and makes contributions to initiatives focused on making CNA a better place to work.

JOB REQUIREMENTS



1. Education: Minimum Master's degree in a relevant field (STEM), PhD preferred.



2. Experience: Typical minimum requirements 5+ years of experience in research and analysis. Experience with machine learning and artificial intelligence concepts and applications preferred. Experience with Navy and AI-related organizations and processes preferred.



3. Skills:

Candidate will work closely with Integrated Product Team Leads/Program Managers to ensure that engineering requirements are defined, risks are managed, and schedules/budgets are met. What You Will Do

  • Contribute to finding solutions to a wide range of technical problems related to the design, manufacture, integration, and production sustainment of various mechanical subsystems, including support in the engineering lab and the factory floor both at Raytheon and at suppliers
  • Support first article inspections, work instruction reviews, material dispositions, and root cause investigations for production issues. Decisions are data driven and require preparing technical justification analysis reports and presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Organize and coordinate executive outreach and external relations efforts: follow up on contacts made by leadership, and research, prioritize, and address incoming issues and concerns addressed to the CEO and COO and determine appropriate course of action, referral, or response. 
  • Serve as administrative liaison to the New York City Charter School Center’s Board of Directors, assisting with the coordination of quarterly Board meetings, including preparing and distributing Board materials. Maintain and ensure compliance with by-laws and applicable nonprofit regulations.
  • Support fundraising and development efforts by managing a reporting calendar, conducting research, and compiling reports for grant applications and funder requirements.


Departmental Liaison & Support

  • In partnership with the COO, coordinate with the Charter Center’s various department leads (Communications & Media, School Supports, Collaborative for Inclusive Education, Policy & Advocacy, etc.) to provide administrative leadership on projects integral to the work of the Charter Center. Tasks to include everything from data entry and management to developing programmatic materials and presentations, et al.
  • Aid the administration of the main office by providing customer support, assisting with event planning and coordination, and other general administrative tasks as requested.

Confirm that all volunteers are knowledgeable of the resident's rights. Organize volunteer activities and enlist volunteers to participate in activity functions. Function as a liaison for the facility in relating to organizations and individuals outside of the hospital. Organize seasonal/holiday events for residents/staff. Place orders for equipment and supplies as necessary and assure that adequate provisions are available and in proper working condition. Assist in preparing and planning the activity department's budget. Participate in resident council meetings and provide support services to such council. Serve on, participate in, and attend Care Plan, Quality Assurance, and interdepartmental supervisors meetings as appointed by the Administrator. Develop and maintain a varied activity calendar monthly. Plan regular bedside, individual and group activities for residents and/or family members to develop preliminary and comprehensive assessments for the activity needs of each resident. Interview residents and/or family members to develop preliminary and comprehensive assessments of the activity needs of each resident. Participates in the interdisciplinary team meetings to develop a written plan of care for each resident that identifies the problems/needs of the resident and the goals to be accomplished. Coordinate activities with other departments as necessary. Schedule sufficient religious activities from varied denominations to ensure that residents are ensured religious freedom and can participate in religious activities. Organizes adequate resources to fulfill the activities function (games, movies, classes, etc.) drawing on a many resources outside the facility as possible. Coordinates and Supervises the Volunteer and Chaplin programs with the awareness of Guthrie relevant policies and processes. Document each resident's progress and attendance according to initial assessment and resident's total plan of care. Review and revise care plans as necessary, but at least quarterly. Participate in surveys made by authorized government agencies.
Other Duties: Work closely with local news media and the public, and participate in community planning as related to the interests of the facility. Arrange transportation for field trips when necessary. Educate other facility staff of resident's activity plans in order for them to assist with activities, particularly in the absence of the Activities Director. Attends and participates in continuing educational programs, job‐related in‐service and conferences. Ensures residents' personal property rights. Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the Administrator.
