Key Responsibilities:

1. Client Relations: Promote a culture of person-centered services that advances the Company's mission to provide quality care and services in a community-based setting to individuals with disabilities. 4. Communication: Notify the proper authority in cases of mechanical failure, safety deficiencies, when off schedule, or other incidents. Coordinate with site managers/staff regarding client behavior or needs requiring additional follow-up, resolving issues as they arise. Attend and participate in department meetings and training as scheduled. Report all accidents immediately, requesting police or ambulance service as needed; assist injured persons until services arrive; and complete required accident reports. Maintain a professional, positive image and attitude.

5. General: Assist with collecting vehicle information for grant tracking if/as needed. Assist Transportation Manager or Transportation Lead with related duties as assigned. Maintain all required licensing and training such as valid driver's license, DOT physical and drug screening as needed, DOT required trainings.

The Van/Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of RCT vehicles and for providing reliable, high-quality transportation customer service to RCT passengers.

Hours vary widely due to the variety of route lengths. Morning hours range from 6:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. Afternoon hours range from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. New drivers are assigned as substitute drivers and may apply for contract route openings as they occur. Opportunities also exist to work as a substitute route driver or an extracurricular trip driver. These positions offer flexibility and can easily work with changing schedules and commitments.
If selected, applicants will be entered into a training program that includes behind-the-wheel training and classroom instruction. Bus driver trainees will be paid $15.89 per hour for up to 30 hours of driver trainings. After completion of training, applicants are entered into a paid mentoring program.
The starting wage for substitute drivers is $21.67 per hour. Anyone that drives both an A.M. and P.M. shift within the same day is paid $26.67 per hour (this includes $5.00 per hour as a split shift differential). A weekly compensation of $25.00 will be paid to contracted employees who work 20 hours or more a week and are present during all assigned route hours with zero absences.
