Grants and Funding Specialist
Description: Somerset Engineering is a full-service engineering firm with multiple locations engaged in a variety of civil, municipal, land development, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing projects across multiple states. The Grants and Funding Specialist supports the firm’s growth by identifying, developing, and securing funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and other entities. This role works closely with engineers, project managers, and leadership to craft compelling proposals for infrastructure, environmental, utility, and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Grant Research & Identification
- Research federal, state, local, and private funding opportunities aligned with the firm’s engineering services and project goals.
- Monitor grant databases (e.g., , , state portals) and maintain a calendar of upcoming opportunities.
Proposal Development
- Collaborate with engineering teams to gather technical project data, cost estimates, and deliverables.
- Write clear, persuasive, and technically accurate narratives tailored to funding agency requirements.
- Prepare supporting materials such as budgets, timelines, maps, and environmental impact summaries.
- Ensure proposals meet all formatting, submission, and compliance requirements.
Grant Management

Qualifications

Position Summary :
Prominent CA-based law practice is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join their headquartered Sacramento, CA offices in support of a dynamic team of business litigation attorneys. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a collaborative environment while demonstrating a first-class commitment to client service.
This position is on-site for the first 90 days. After that period, a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days remote may be available.
General Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain internal case databases, including importing and exporting documents, locating files, running productions, analytics, and email threading, and conducting document review and coding.
- Conduct document searches using eDiscovery platforms (e.g., Relativity) and perform factual research utilizing Westlaw and online resources.
- Manage all aspects of discovery, including organizing, reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing discovery materials; preparing and responding to discovery requests; and drafting subpoenas to third parties.
- Assist attorneys in deposition preparation by gathering relevant documents and organizing exhibits.
- Track and manage the progress of documents throughout litigation, including ordering transcripts and records from third-party entities and responding to requests from outside counsel.
- Prepare for and attend trials and arbitrations, including organizing exhibits and supporting materials, coordinating trial logistics, and assisting attorneys in the courtroom.
- Operate and manage electronic trial presentation software.
- Demonstrate strong analytical and technical skills throughout all phases of litigation.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of court documents in coordination with attorneys and legal secretaries.
- Serve as a liaison between internal departments and outside vendors.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of complex litigation experience required, with an emphasis on business litigation and real estate litigation.
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program required; alternatively, qualifications meeting California Business and Professions Code §§ 6450–6456 may be considered.
- Extensive experience with electronic legal database software, such as Relativity.
- Trial experience strongly preferred, including exhibit and witness preparation, subpoena drafting, and courtroom support.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required.
- Proficiency in litigation software such as CaseMap, TextMap, Relativity, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Sanction or Trial Director.
- Familiarity with iManage or a similar document management system.
- Ability to manage multiple files and projects concurrently and to perform well under pressure.
- Self-starter who works effectively both independently and collaboratively, while providing prompt support to attorneys.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with attorneys and legal professionals at all levels.
