Position Summary:
The RT Vent Field Clinician is a Respiratory Therapist providing respiratory patient care to Vent patients for optimal outcomes. Provides respiratory care to patients in alternate sites in accordance with AdaptHealth’s policies and procedures. Respiratory care will be preventative, rehabilitative, and palliative in nature. The RT will utilize all the resources available within the agency and community to accomplish care objectives. This position will provide education and care to the patient and communicate with team, physicians and referral sources and other patient agencies ensuring prompt attention to patient care issues.

- Maintains working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and other third-party payer guidelines related to ventilation.

The Occupational Therapist will perform assessments/evaluations and make recommendations to MassHealth for PCA services in the home setting. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, able to work independently out in the community, and is an organized individual who has a desire to work with people with disabilities.
Essential Functions
- Conduct evaluations for Personal Care Attendant (PCA) services based on MassHealth Standard Operating Procedures and regulations
- Evaluate all consumers in consideration of: range of motion, movement analysis, fine motor skills, sensory motor processing and functional activities of daily living
- Present findings and recommendations of the evaluations to MassHealth
- Recommend special or adaptive equipment as necessary to meet the needs of the child or adult at home, at school, and in adaptive settings
- Maintain up-to-date data (progress notes, reports, statistics, quarterly reports and any other reports deemed necessary) in the manner set forth and defined by the agency
- Inform Program Manager and other staff of new developments in the field of occupational therapy

- Maintains proficient knowledge of ventilator patients including compliance software, new technology, units, and supplies supported by Adapthealth.
- Ability to demonstrate and instruct on use of vent units and supplies. Ability to make decisions for patients based on compliance data and assessment.
- Communicates with team, physicians and referral sources and other patient agencies ensuring prompt attention to patient care issues.
- Maintains working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and other third-party payer guidelines related to ventilation.
- Electronically documents patient care activity, intervention provided and all communication regarding the patient. Documentation is accurate, complete and follows company standards.
- Appropriate steps taken to ensure recommendations and orders sent are acknowledged and followed up in a timely manner.
- Responsible for accuracy, clarity, and timeliness of verbal and written communications as it relates to role.
- Responsible for documentation that supports data collection to track and trend outcomes.
- Assists in establishing clinical documentation when needed for third party reimbursement or justification.

- Inbound: Unload trucks, trailers, containers of freight, counting products, compare to manifest to check all shipments for damage, infestation, or production code dates. Material handlers must report shortages, damages, and mis-shipments on appropriate forms. Also be able to sign for inbound shipments when necessary. All inbound shipments are moved safely to storage locations to be efficiently stacked as store merchandise.
- Order Picking: Ensure that the correct product number, quantity, and type (lot, batch, serial number) of product are picked. Transport orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms with material handling equipment such as but not limited to fork trucks, cherry pickers, or pallet jacks. Materials handlers must be able to label, stencil, tag, mark orders, band, bundle, wrap, over-pack, and palletize as required.
- Outbound: Compare quantity, labeling and address with order to ensure out-going shipments are complete and correct. Assign signature for outbound as necessary. Efficiently move product, cartons and or pallets into trailers, rail cars or containers.
- Maintain equipment in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion. Operate equipment safely and efficiently. Comply with company standards and OSHA requirements.

General description
Provides occupational therapy and services for special education students, ages birth to 22 years, that includes assessment, development of Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and plans, therapy, and direct intervention strategies and activities to assist students in acquiring functional and independent life skills within their occupational performance in the educational setting. Works with special education teams and provides consultation and training to school personnel and families.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Provides occupational therapy services to students by conducting assessments in context to their occupational performance within the educational setting using an ecological model to determine their strengths and level of need in areas that may include physical, cognitive, psychosocial and sensory components
Participates in pre-referral screenings, provides support and recommendations as part of the general education process, and facilitates transition planning
Participates in intervention planning and implementation of IEP and Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) services
Develops well defined educationally relevant goals and objectives that are part of the student's individual educational program
Evaluates student progress on individual IEP and IFSP goals and revises goals as needed
Prepares occupational therapy assessments and progress and makes recommendations
As a part of the IFSP or IEP team the OT collaborates with professional staff to determine an individualized education plan for students eligible for special education services
Instructs and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams in occupational therapy treatment approach, and instructional support on understanding, interpreting, and implementing intervention procedures
Consults with parents and staff on occupational therapy interventions for students
Provides training and continuing professional development to teachers and resource staff
Keeps up-to-date on current clinical, theoretical and educational research in the profession and develops up-to-date best practices for therapy services
Ensures the documentation of services is professional, efficient, and accountable, and in conformance with the policies of state and other agencies
Modifies and may design adaptive equipment that enhances students' ability to access learning and technology

Requirements
Education: Master's degree in occupational therapy.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, if received prior to 2007, is acceptable.
Experience: One year's experience in a school setting preferred.
Knowledge of:
- Physical, sensory, intellectual, social, and emotional growth patterns of children including the developmental and educational needs of children with specific disabilities
- Current theories and best practices in the application of occupational therapy techniques, including oral motor facilitation, daily living activities, sensory impairments, perceptual motor, fine motor development, and normal and abnormal child development
