As an Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU) RN at MercyOne, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care through evidence-based practice. Utilizing critical thinking, the RN will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-focused care for patients undergoing surgery or procedures in an outpatient setting. You will lead a collaborative team, supervising and coordinating care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members to ensure the highest standards of patient safety and comfort.

Education:

Essential Key Job Responsibilities:

• Delivers assigned patient care and treatment as delegated by an RN or LPN.

• Performs or assists patients with activities including personal hygiene, bathing, ambulation, transporting, range of motion exercises, dressing/undressing, feeding, changing bandages, elimination needs, and emptying drainage devices.

• Responds to patient calls and anticipates patient needs.

• Calculates intake and output (excluding IVs). Measures vital signs. 

• Performs bedside blood glucose testing.

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited registered nursing program.

• Must be 18 years of age.

• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six (6) weeks of hire.

• Complete (72) hours of supervised ECLS case management experience

• First (36) hours obtained with a qualified preceptor at the pump

• Remaining (36) hours obtained as the primary pump specialist with a veteran specialist as the patient’s bedside RN

• Satisfactorily participate in an introductory (8) hour ECLS competency simulation workshop verified by the ECLS Coordinator and ECLS Medical Director.

• Satisfy annual requirements to maintain status as an ECLS specialist.

Provides and directs safe, effective and culturally competent care for high risk, critically acute patients with actual or potential life-threatening conditions.  Through evidence-based practice, utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement and evaluate outcome-based care of patients. Medical Assistant

• Demonstrates ability to recognize urgent/emergent needs of patients and initiate appropriate emergency procedures as needed.
• Demonstrates current level of knowledge of various payor regulations by functioning within those guidelines.
• Follows clinic procedure/protocol for the organization and management of the electronic medical record (i.e. test results, retrieval, filing, creation, repair, charging of electronic medical record).
• Acts to facilitate interdisciplinary communication.  Utilizes other members of the health care team in assessing the patient and analyzes patient data.  Assesses learning needs of the patient and significant others.  Gives accurate and complete information to patient and family.
• Evaluates patient and family understanding of treatment plan and/or instruc­tions.
• Assists with a variety of procedures, exams and/or operation of diagnostic equipment as assigned (i.e. EKG, spirometry, tympanometry, etc.).

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Successful completion of a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification must be obtained within first year of employment and maintained thereafter.
• Clinic/physician office experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.

Care for patients in our team oriented Post Anesthesia Care Unit. Our RNs are a vital part of the post surgical team providing personalized care to patients of all ages.

What you will Do: 

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care of patients.

Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs and PCAs.

Facilitates communication with physicians, families and other team members.

Hours/Schedule:  

32 hrs week. Full Time, Days but may require Evenings. Start time will vary between 11am and 1pm. 8 hour shift

Position: Medical Assistant (MA): Health Plaza Family Practice

Location: Davenport, IA

Schedule: 32 hours per week, Day shift, M-F

Supports the operation of the clinical practice by performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks. This position is responsible for assisting physicians and other healthcare providers in delivering patient care through patient preparation, vital sign collection, documentation, and basic clinical procedures. The Medical Assistant also coordinates patient flow, maintaining accurate medical records, and ensuring a positive patient experience.

Required:

· Must have successfully completed accredited Medical Assistant program.
