Building Material Broker / Trader (Bring Your Book of Business)
Job Description
Building Materials Broker / Trader (Bring Your Book of Business)
We are looking for experienced building materials brokers and traders who already have an established book of business and are ready to scale beyond their current constraints.
This is not an entry-level role. This is for producers.
If you know how to move product, maintain mill relationships, and manage customers—but are limited by capital, credit, or infrastructure—we provide the platform to unlock your next level.
What You Bring
- An existing book of business in building materials (cedar, lumber, or related products)
- Strong mill and/or customer relationships
- The ability to generate and manage profitable deals
- An entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on margin, not just volume
What We Provide
- Inventory financing and working capital (we pay mills, you focus on selling)
- Full credit support and receivables management (we take on bad debt risk)
- Logistics coordination and operational support
- Back-office infrastructure so you can stay focused on production
- A platform to build and scale your own division
How This Works
- You operate your own book within our company structure
- You sell into any channel within the building materials space
- You focus on high-margin business, not just turns
- You can expand into new product lines we are not currently serving
Compensation
- Draw against commission
- Up to % of gross profit
- Higher splits available for proven books of business
- No cap on earnings
There is a strong earning opportunity for brokers who can effectively deploy approximately $1M in inventory and receivables at high margins.
About Us
We operate under Northwest Building Products (Holding Company), with divisions including Cedarwood and Stout Steel. Our roots go back to 1982, with the current company established in 2016.
We are a high-performance, entrepreneurial team focused on building systems that allow great operators to do what they do best.
Who This Is NOT For
- Entry-level candidates
- Salary-only salespeople
- Individuals without an existing book of business
Location
Primarily on-site preferred. Remote candidates will be considered, but proximity matters for collaboration and long-term growth.
If you’re currently producing but constrained by capital, credit, or infrastructure—and want to scale your book into something bigger—let’s talk.
