What You?ll Do

• Serve as a trusted first assist during robotic and traditional surgeries, including GYN, urology, OB, spine, and orthopedics.
• Anticipate surgeon needs, maintain a sterile field, and optimize patient positioning.
• Work seamlessly with the OR team to ensure precision, efficiency, and exceptional patient outcomes.

• Connect with patients before surgery, ensuring they feel informed and at ease.
• Confirm cases, manage essential documentation, and facilitate smooth patient transfers.
• Provide detailed handovers to PACU staff to maintain continuity of care.

• Engage in clinical and operational improvement projects, including training and process enhancements.
• Expand your expertise by learning new surgical specialties and staying ahead in the ever-evolving world of surgery.

What You Bring

• Minimum of 2 years as a Surgical First Assist with robotics experience in GYN, urology, OB, spine, and other specialties.

• Graduate of an accredited PA, NP, RNFA, or CSA program.
• Active state license and national certifications (e.g., NCCPA for PAs, CNOR or RNFA for NPs).

• Proficiency in MS Office and EMR systems for seamless documentation.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-focused approach.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to diverse OR environments.
• A confident, adaptable team player who thrives in a fast-paced surgical setting.

The First Report Unit Supervisor is responsible for managing the level of service provided by the unit, conduct quality analysis, and train and monitor the performance of the First Report Claim Technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Continually promote teamwork through effective leadership.
• Monitor/Report results from Call Management System (CMS) to maintain proper phone coverage and address service levels.
• Handle exceptions/complaints/inquiries, both written and oral.
• Take and/or key first reports as needed.
• Train new associates as well as provide ongoing training to current staff.
• Perform telephone quality reviews on Claim Technicians as well as record, file and communicate results.
• Prepare and submit service requests for FNOL changes.
• Participate in system testing as needed and document results.
• Develop spreadsheets for tracking various results as requested by management.
• Interview candidates and make hiring recommendations.
• Provide performance feedback to associates.
• Scheduling of staff.
• Complete analysis of available metrics for continuous improvement within the organization.
• Work with other units in the office and company to provide support for their processes and to have them provide support to FRU during times of high volume.
• Available to be “on call” for problem solving during off hours. The First Report Unit is staffed Monday – Friday from 8:00 am until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with 5 years of claims or other applicable experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, and Internet).
• Working knowledge of ClaimsPro, FNOL, Polstar and Image Right.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong leadership skills.

Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure and performs sponging, suturing, suctioning, holding retractors, and homeostasis. Monitors the patient and equipment during surgery and prepares patients for transport to and from surgery.

Job Duties

• Anticipates the needs of the surgeon during routine and complex assignments in the scrub role.
• Handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
• Intervenes to correct, minimize, or prevent actual or potential risks, based upon observation of physiological and/or behavioral data.
• Solves problems, troubleshoots, and takes corrective measures in care and handling of equipment.

• Technical School Diploma Surgical technician program
• 4 years experience in an operating room.
• Accepts and recognizes differences among people.
• Demonstrates knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the procedure and for maintenance of the sterile field.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the problem solving process in the identification and resolution of patient care or other problems.
• Demonstrates the capacity to become competent and perform a variety of required technical skills.

Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
