Boeing Defense, Space & Security’s Air Dominance division is hiring Associate Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC) Engineers in Hazelwood, MO.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in defining Guidance, Navigation and Control mission requirements and ensure requirements traceability and quality from the system level to component level

  • Use multidisciplinary model data (aero, mass properties, propulsion, etc.) to develop and refine a complex, nonlinear, 6 degrees of freedom simulation model

  • Use various software languages, C, C++, FORTRAN, Python, etc. to develop, implement, integrate and test vehicle models and controllers

  • Support design of flight control laws using modern linear control design techniques and tools to achieve design and performance targets

  • Use advanced nonlinear analysis to assess and refine the control law design

  • Perform model validation against test data to inform and improve the accuracy of the simulation environment

  • Develop supplementary controllers, limiters, mode logic, and signal shaping to properly bound the performance within all areas of the flight envelope

  • Work with flight simulation and Vehicle Management Systems (VMS) software engineers to incorporate control laws into the operational flight program

  • Support flight simulations including desktop, software, and real time simulations

  • Support hardware in the loop development and testing

  • Support flight testing planning and execution

  • Participate in design reviews, analyses, simulations and component/system testing to ensure delivery of products that meet or exceed customer requirements and expectations

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.

  • Experience with Guidance Navigation & Control engineering

  • Experience using Matlab/Simulink or MatrixX to model systems.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

Job Summary

Electrical Controls Engineers at client design, program, implement, troubleshoot, and improve our electronic control systems to better automate, control, and monitor our production processes. The Electrical Controls Engineer applies comprehensive electrical engineering skills and industry experience in support of the design, fabrication, and implementation of new equipment. They need to be proficient in a variety of logic control hardware, HMI’s and programming software, as well as the associated sensors, vision systems, motors, drives, actuators, and industrial communication networks. They are responsible for writing, troubleshooting, and modifying our ladder logic programs that control the way our equipment operates. They further provide expert-level troubleshooting support on existing automated equipment as a backstop for our maintenance technicians. Depending on the complexity of the equipment needed, they may additionally serve as the project lead for an entire piece of automated equipment, and thus may also coordinate activities for internal mechanical designers and/or external contractors to deliver a turn-key piece of production equipment.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and program new and/or upgraded control systems for our manufacturing equipment to be used on both new and existing products.
  • Provide tier 3 troubleshooting support to maintenance technicians on particularly difficult equipment problems.
  • Define and document requirements for new control systems and control system upgrades.
  • Mock-up prototype equipment and control systems in order to evaluate the ability of designs to achieve their intended purpose.
  • Prepare design review documentation to facilitate peer and leadership review
  • Document control systems using control schematics, electrical diagrams, panel layouts, and through meticulous software program comments.
  • Develop and perform system verification and validation tests to ensure safe and proper functioning.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and assistance to peers and junior engineers and technicians.
  • Coordinate with Program Managers, R&D, Engineering and Management to prepare detailed plans and estimates for equipment in support of capital expenditure requests.
  • Prepares statements of work and compile cost estimates for new control equipment
  • Assists with make/buy decisions and oversee the design and build process for outsourced systems.
  • Stays informed concerning new technologies, materials and equipment, and investigates potential applications.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above.
  • Understand and live by Armtec’s ethics and business conduct policies.


Education & Professional Work Experience Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorization from the U.S. Government.
  • QualificationsBachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline with 5+ years of controls engineering experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and deploying automated control systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ladder Logic programming experience using RSLogix 500, and Studio 5000
  • HMI development experience, prefer experience with FactoryTalk View Studio
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot AC/DC electrical equipment problems and perform system tests.
  • Experience with creating electrical schematics and control system diagrams. Autocad Electrical experience is preferred.
  • Prefer experience implementing Allen Bradley Micrologix, and CompactLogix PLC’s and various touchscreen HMI panels, such as Panelview and C-more HMI’s.
  • Additional experience with various Industrial networks is a plus.

Summary: 

The Director of Loss Control leads Forestry Mutual’s specialized Loss Control and Risk Management program for commercial forestry, logging, and associated transportation operations. This role provides strategic leadership, supervises Loss Control staff, and ensures effective delivery of risk assessment, safety guidance, and operational support to policyholders.


The Director collaborates closely with underwriting and claims teams to identify emerging risks, implement mitigation strategies, and reduce the frequency and severity of losses. This position also serves as a mentor and support resource for Loss Control staff, ensuring staff are trained, coached, and empowered to work effectively with policyholders in high-risk forestry, logging, and timber trucking operations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


Leadership and Staff Support

  • Directly supervise and support all Loss Control personnel, providing guidance, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, field evaluations, and performance reviews to ensure staff effectiveness.
  • Assist Loss Control staff in addressing complex or challenging policyholder situations, ensuring compliance with safety recommendations and operational standards.
  • Recruit, train, and retain specialized Loss Control staff with experience in forestry, logging, or heavy equipment operations.

Strategic Risk Management

  • Develop and implement Forestry Mutual’s Loss Control strategy for forestry, logging, timber trucking, and related operations.

Field Operations and Policyholder Engagement

  • Lead and participate in field visits, on-site safety assessments, and operational inspections for policyholders.
  • Provide guidance on forestry safety, heavy equipment operation, trucking compliance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote safe work practices, operational compliance, and a positive safety culture among policyholders and subcontractors.
