The Advanced Effector Guidance Systems (AEGS) Department within Raytheon Hardware Engineering provides Electrical Systems Engineering to develop Electronic Systems solutions for products across the Raytheon portfolio. Our core electrical engineering responsibilities include architecture, requirements, integration, and test. Our core electrical engineering technologies include RF/RADAR, Navigation/IMU/GPS, Data Link/Communication, Digital, and Power. We partner with several Electrical Product Team departments that provide the detailed design of our electrical products as well as systems teams.

The AEGS Department is searching for an Electrical Subsystems Guidance Section (GS) Lead with experience leading a multi-disciplinary system design and integration team. The role of the GS Lead is to lead a cross-functional and cross-discipline team of engineers through the design cycle for development and integration of a guidance section. This role will include Control Account Management (CAM) responsibilities so Earned Value (EV) certification is required.
 

What You Will Do

  • Responsible for Technical, Cost, and Schedule Execution.

  • Be responsible for the technical integrity of the GS, including the Technical Data Package (TDP) development, validation, and integration

  • Manage costs and schedule for GS design, verification, and hardware procurement

  • Manage the technical risk for the GS

  • Technical oversight of GS failure investigations

  • Support component level design and test reviews

  • Work environment is primarily in an office, but may include labs, field work, or a combination.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

  • Ten years of experience in one or more of the following areas:  

    • RF product and subassembly design, integration, and production support

    • Analog, digital, and power electronics design, integration, and production support

    • Deconvolving high level requirements into actionable design electronics and subsystem architectures

  • Experience in RF sub-systems, systems engineering, requirement development, requirement validation, Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) Design, RF Test Integration (including RF Test Solutions), and/or RF Supplier Management on an effector-based product

In your role as Sr Avionics Hardware Engineer, you will design, analyze, document, test, and troubleshoot electronic assemblies at the circuit board through integrated electro-mechanical level. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing and test engineers as the expert on your hardware. You will drive improvements to the hardware through benchtop, environmental, and on-aircraft testing, and perform root-cause investigations to characterize, document, and rectify anomalous behavior in a safety-critical environment. As an Avionics Hardware Engineer, you will drive development of electrical components and sub-systems across our airborne and test platforms from the circuit-board level up through integrated systems and everything in between.

Responsibilities

In your role as Avionics Hardware Engineer, you will design, analyze, document, test, and troubleshoot electronic assemblies at the circuit board through integrated electro-mechanical level. You will collaborate with a cross-functional team of electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing and test engineers as the expert on your hardware. You will drive improvements to the hardware through benchtop, environmental, and on-aircraft testing, and perform root-cause investigations to characterize, document, and rectify anomalous behavior in a safety-critical environment.

Basic Success Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent experience

  • Demonstrated ability to complete and ship projects and deliverables

  • Professional experience with ECAD tools such as Altium

  • Ability to work within a team, including strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to methodically diagnose, document, and solve electronic hardware problems

Preferred Criteria

  • Professional experience with the full electronics product life-cycle, from conceptual design through production

  • Direct hands-on experience with analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design, analysis, test, and debug

  • Experience designing electronics to meet rigorous environmental standards (aerospace, military, automotive, or harsh industrial)

  • Proficiency with Python and/or MATLAB for analysis, data review, and test setup scripting

The estimated salary range for this position is $110,000 to $168,000/annual salary + cash and stock option awards + benefits. Full-time onsite:
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full- time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time.
This will be a 1st Shift position for a 4/10 schedule Monday-Thursday.
Assemble electronic components, assemblies, subassemblies, kits and modules according to specific written instructions, wiring lists and diagrams, routing instructions and process sheets. Use appropriate tooling and machinery as provided. Verify and inspect products to ensure conformance with requirements and perform rework as needed.
Perform mechanical and electrical assembly operations in the build of electronic assemblies using standard measuring tools and techniques, following work order instructions, policies and procedures. Perform soldering and inspection when/if certified.
Cross-train in other assembly positions, participate and support continuous improvement activities, perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Full-Time Salary Range: $38041 - $60865
