Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Construction Superintendent – Life Science at Cannon Building. Based in Carlsbad, CA, the Construction Superintendent will oversee daily on-site operations of construction projects, ensuring they are executed on time, within budget, and meet quality and safety standards. Responsibilities include managing crews and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, preparing and following project schedules, and coordinating resources and materials to optimize efficiency. The role requires collaboration with project management teams and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Coordination:
- Monitor and document all SWPPP, BMP and storm related paperwork related to the project including job surveys and updating of the SWPPP plans and keeping all files up to date.
Leadership and Communication:
- Provide leadership by using effective verbal and written communications to manage the subcontractors and field personnel as well as interact with the Owner, Architect and Consultants on behalf of the company.
- Organize and lead project meetings, prepare minutes, and ensure all parties understand and fulfill their obligations.
Contract and Compliance Management:
- Ensure compliance with general conditions and contract requirements, monitoring contract documents for conformance and execution.
- Negotiate subcontract and purchase order terms, oversee subcontract execution, and manage subcontractor claims.
Project Documentation and Systems:
- Utilize Procore to manage project documentation and costs, overseeing the preparation and reporting of RFIs, submittals, inspections, safety reports, change orders, and related documents.
- Confirm all contracts are signed and insurance is in place prior to allowing any personnel on the jobsite to perform any work. Reads and has a working knowledge of subcontracts and change orders. Review weekly project logs for insurance, RFIs, Submittals, and Material Delivery Logs to ensure the proper delivery of materials, equipment and labor to the project.
- Review shop drawings along with Project Manager to help ensure compliance with the construction documents.
Quality and Safety Assurance:
- Participate in Operations and Safety meetings, promoting and enforcing jobsite safety.
- Start up the project assessing safety requirements and site logistics. Schedule and document safety start up meetings with the subcontractors reviewing Cannon Building’s safety requirements, OSHA requirements, Site Specific Safety requirements and reporting requirements.
- Monitor work quality and perform regular inspections to ensure construction standards are consistently met.
- Enforce strong safety culture, conducting regular safety meetings, inspections, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel may be required; the position is based out of the San Diego region, with travel for projects as needed in Orange, Los Angeles, or San Diego counties.
Qualification and Requirements
Experience Requirement: Demonstrates a working knowledge of commercial construction with a minimum of five years of experience in this area with a focus on Life Science and Pharmaceutical
· Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred. Additional certifications in OSHPD/HCAI regulations and construction safety are a plus
· Experience as Lead Superintendent for Life Science/Pharmaceutical projects
Project Experience: Project experience valued at $2 Million or greater as a Superintendent.

Job Summary
Our Natural Gas Construction Manager provides management and direction of utility construction activities. Project work includes project management, resource allocation, equipment management, and utility construction. Duties performed are associated with human resources, payroll, accounting, and administrative functions. This position supports the Construction team and works with field personnel, senior operations management, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Manage all projects to completion on-time and within budget.
- Schedule the crews, identify and delegate the crews to start their work, review project timelines and expectations, and supervise work performance and job quality.
- Participate in the hiring process and maintain all employment related paperwork (i.e. new hire paperwork, separation paperwork, employment data changes, etc.).

Qualifications & Requirements:
- 10+ years of planning and scheduling experience in commercial, industrial, mission-critical, or large-scale construction environments.
- Strong hands-on Primavera P6 capability, including schedule development, updates, logic ties, calendars, coding, layouts, baseline control, and schedule QA/QC.
- Solid understanding of construction means and methods across civil, structural, building enclosure, interior buildout, and MEP coordination.
- Proven ability to work directly with field teams and subcontractors and challenge unrealistic durations, poor sequencing, or unsupported assumptions.
- Experience producing clear schedule narratives, variance explanations, and recovery options for project leadership.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to operate credibly in both trailer and executive settings.
- Ability to work in an active construction environment and travel to the project site as required.
Preferred but Not Required Skills:
- Experience with Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC) and/or Primavera P6 in active construction environments.
- Familiarity with data center or mission-critical construction scheduling.
- Experience supporting pull planning, collaborative phase planning, and trade-facing short-interval planning.
- Ability to translate field planning outcomes into logic-driven master schedules, look-aheads, and update narratives.

The Constructability Manager serves as the technical authority between Sales, Engineering, and Operations—ensuring projects are buildable, cost-accurate, and execution-ready before reaching the field.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties that will be performed include, but not limited to:
- Complete all phases of pricing (ROM, SD, DD, CD) for upcoming projects.
- Perform buyout for upcoming projects prior to project startup.

- Build detailed schedules in provided software for each project and continually help improve schedule templates.
- Clearly communicate pricing, schedule, scope of work, and expectations with trade partners.
- Conduct official in-house project startup meetings prior to breaking ground.
- Oversee and execute administrative tasks throughout the project duration.
- Assist with completing monthly pay applications.
- Submit RFI’s to project design team for clarification as needed.
- Attend and sometimes conduct jobsite meetings with trade partners, engineers, and city officials to ensure efficient and orderly performance of the job.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory inspections set forth by the AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction).
- Complete project closeout documents once each project is finished.
- Mentor and lead other less experienced team members.
- Attend weekly 1:1 meeting with Supervisor.
- Attend mandatory company events, such as monthly All-Staff meetings.
- Work longer hours as needed to make sure given responsibilities and tasks have been completed.
Daily Reporting Location: This is a Main Office or Field Office position that reports to the office every day and will require visits to various jobsites for meetings and coordination.
